Otterkit didn't realize he had left camp until he realized the cat scent wasn't as strong. Oh no, he thought. He turned to go back to camp- wait, where was the camp? Panicking, he ran through the pine forest. He saw a tunnel; maybe this led to camp! Otterkit ran towards it, but instead of being met with ShadowClan cats, he was met with the jaws of a fox. He turned to run, and he leaped - the best his stubby legs could - but the fox caught him in its jaws and the last thing he felt was blinding pain and then the world went dark.

Lostspark

Lostspark had been minding her own business, collecting cobwebs (because ShadowClan was running low on the one thing they used faster than anything, and apparently Lostspark couldn't even trust their warriors to collect herbs properly), swabbing away at (hopefully) resident-less spiderwebs long forgotten, collecting them for herself to take home.

She had just finished up and had begun heading home when her ears pricked, the sounds of snarling catching her attention. Lostspark's hackles immediately rose as she deposited the cobwebs somewhere she could grab them later from and made her way through the underbrush, pawsteps as silent as they came.

When she arrived at the scene, there was nothing Lostspark could do but lunge in straightaway, because hell, there was a kit there. Teeth bared in a feral snarl, the Medicine Cat barreled herself into the russet creature, fangs clamping down on it's shoulder as it yipped with pain and dropped the limp kit, turning it's attentions on her. Was the kit dead? Lostspark couldn't spare the youngster a glance at the moment, but he smelled of ShadowClan, she was certain. What was he doing out here? Fury built in her heart. Fury at the fox, fury at her starsdamned Clan who'd let a kid out of camp, and Lostspark turned that rage into fuel as her claws shredded at the fox in his grasp. She didn't pay heed to the sharp sting of pain on her flank as sharp teeth bit down in a last ditch effort to get her to relent her attack. It wouldn't work, though, and only would Lostspark stop once the fox was dead and limp at her paws.

Finally she turned to the kit, identifying him as Otterkit, her expression grim as she nudged him. "Hey, kid. Wake up." She murmured before (attempting to) pull the tom-kit onto her back.

TW: coughing out blood i guess?

There was a thud as the fox dropped him and he fell to the ground. He could just barely hear the snarls of cat and fox. One of the snarls stopped, and someone said something.

"Hey kid. Wake up."

Otterkit managed to make out a shape as he struggled back to consciousness. "w-who are you?" he whimpered. The scent was familiar- one of herbs- and he struggled to remember the herb cat's name. Lostspark, maybe? But he was kinda sure there was another herb cat... Mossfreckle? He wasn't sure, he could hear and kinda see, but the world was a haze of pain. He blinked feebly. He opened his mouth to say something but a coughing fit- one with blood wracked his body and he brushed the cats cheek fur- it was soft and comforting- before passing out again.

(otterkits spirit would maybe be just chilling in the living world and some cats could see him* i guess but he could also just dreamwalk with lark idk, also the amount of trial and error that small to big text took is insane)
*because idk if that's allowed without spiritual encounter which i am much to broke to buy

When Otterkit began to stir, Lostspark glanced over her shoulder at the young tom as she made her way back to camp. Who was she? "Lostspark." She answered simply. That would be all the answer he needed. The Medicine Cat couldn't help but grimace as Otterkit began coughing - blood. That couldn't be good. And then he passed out. Expression turning sour with dislike at these unfortunate turns of events, Lostspark picked up the kit without a word, hurrying back to camp. She needed him in the Medicine Den, and quickly, where she could treat him properly.

After having reached the Medicine Den, Lostspark wasted no time depositing Otterkit in an empty nest. She took a couple moments to clean the blood from his fur - and then paused on his tail. It was not salvageable. Sighing softly, thanking the stars that at least Otterkit's coma would be helpful for something, Lostspark began the long, arduous process of amputating the kitten's tail. It was a gruesome task - soaking the tail in moss, wrapping a vine tight across the base of the tail to stop bloodflow, then to saw her claws over the base of his tail, cleaving the mangled part from the rest.

She remembered doing this, not so long ago, to Cinderpaw. It was just as gruesome now as it had been then, but there was no other choice.

Otterkit blinked. Where was he? The young kit felt no pain, smelled no blood, no anything. He wasn't anywhere he recognized- not like he recognized most of ShadowClan's camp- but strangely enough, there wasn't any cat scent. He turned and looked in shock at his tail- or lack thereof. There was a stump where it used to be, a fluffy tuft. He turned, expecting to see the herb cat, who had introduced herself as Lostspark just before he'd passed out, but he saw no one. She was the last thing he'd seen before everything darkened. He furrowed his brows in confusion. What was happening?

[Dreamwalker activated]
Otterkit thought hard of Lostspark and tried to see if she could appear in his dream. He'd discovered he could walk in other's dreams when he thought of his brother before falling asleep and then, poof, there was Viper, standing in front of him. He'd run away, of course, but he had guessed what happened. He shook his fur out and concentrated, feeling the familiar sensation of pulling on someone's dream, feeling them being tugged away from their dream and into his. The brown tomkit blinked as Lostspark appeared in front of him. "What's happening? Where is my tail? WHERE IS THIS??" he asked immediately.
