Chapter 1
Lily

I watch mother carefully. She walks in front of me and my father, my big sister at her side. Father says it's odd that we are each litters of 1, but he also says that it makes us unique. I lick my chestnut fur daintily. Mother taught us to be proper and pretty. I’m not sure why, but we are going on a quest. Father and Mother seem to know, but they won’t tell me. Mother says kittens like me are to be seen, and not to be heard. Mother has a lot of rules, but she says they are how every cat behaves, and if she is going to find a good mate for me, I have to be good as well. That is coming up soon for Rose. Rose has lovely ginger fur, hazel eyes, and a sweet voice. Everyone loves her. Mother has hazel eyes, and a ginger coat, with chestnut stripes. Father is a black cat, with hazel eyes. I have chestnut fur and hazel eyes. Mother says she is proud of our lovely, proper family. She says if me and Rose continue to behave this good, she will have no problem finding good toms for us. I certainly hope so.

“Here we are” mother says. We have arrived at a clearing in the forest. There seems to be a tunnel leading to a bush surrounded area. Mother turns to us. “Lily, clean your tail again, you must have accidentally brushed a twig. The rest of you, good.” I fix my tail, and we walk through the tunnel. We emerge to see dens. Lots of dens. And then the cats start staring at us. One of them steps forward. "Pine? Your mate and daughters I suspect? Tulip, Rose, and Lily?" As my father confirms with a nod, mother, Rose, and I sit prettily, and curl our tails around our feet. The big silver cat introduces himself. "I am Shiverstar, leader of Lionclan. Welcome to your new home"

Chapter 2
Silverpaw

I walk out into the clearing, yawning. I needed that nap, I tell myself. And I trained hard this past moon. I certainly deserve a day to sleep in. I'm about to ask Bumbleflame if he'll take me hunting when I see the rogues. Shiverstar is talking to them. I know I have seen the tom before, maybe they are going to join the clan. There seems to be a young warrior-aged she-cat, and a she-cat my age. I turn to my mentor. "Bumbleflame, are those rogues going to join?"
