She looked up, flicking her tongue over her muzzle and tasting blood--she froze. Her tongue felt strange in her mouth, too short. She lifted a talon to her face and shrunk back in fear, a high keening coming from her lips. Suddenly she noticed the boots in front of her again and looked up, her face a grimace of fear and confusion. "Lim..." she croaked, the words coming strangely in her soft mouth. "Fi...let.."

A cold wind blew through the trees, stirring the pine needles on the ground. Violet shivered and instinctively pulled her skin around herself, then realized what she was doing and shuddered.
