Shadeleaf sucks at writing

(As some people were confused, this is a thread about writing advice as I am finally forcing myself to plot my novels)

So, I watch a lot of writing advice and study techniques but I never really manage to write anything lasting. I did start a few stories but they all feel like they are failing. Anyway, I'm determined to improve. I just thought up a story, though it feels more like a Manga, and I wanna develop it so I need some feedback. As usual, I get inspiration from something and immediately make up an annoying "side character feels jealous and snaps" self-insert. Naturally, this character is not suitable to be the main character. The backstory and personal arc overshadows the main plot. So I try to form a story around it. And I start forcing myself to worldbuild and eventually get bored. But I wanna change. So this time I'm determined to get invested in my main character and the plot. Anyway, here's the thing I'm currently working on:

Its kinda like a shounen anime but the main character is a girl, so I guess a girl variant? Anyway, this girl is in this world where people have magic. Not like classic fantasy magic, more like typical Manga nonsense with a complex explanation and a ton of variety. So, this world has magic, and a lot of it is combat focused. So fighting and stuff is kind of a sport. The plot is basically a manga tournament arc, or at least starts out that way and becomes more versatile. Protagonist girl makes up a team of untrained boys and girls from her high school that wanna compete in murder tournaments for highschoolers and they all train. It's less of a "win to move on to rounds" then a "collect points and victories to gain rank" sort of tournament. So they train and plot commences. One of these characters (annoying self-insert) already has a plot but I want to focus on all the characters. Of course, main protagonist and a few teammates will be a bit more significant, but I want I wide cast of characters.

Why am I telling you all this? Simply because, what do you think? Does it sound cool? I want some feedback on whether you would read this. Some advice from fellow writers would be appreciated.

I think that world creation is a crucial part of writing. I, and this isn't a professional by any means, personally like to put down all of the world ideas, the jist of where the plot's going to go, but still leave it open ended, like there is this kind of order and they do this and my character is going to get into the order by this way and then she goes on this quest or something, and then you just write from there. I just realized this is going to be kinda hard to read, lol. @Shadeleaf
