Sharkpaw didn’t expect their spar-mate to duck underneath them. Their surprise attack was perfectly planned! The short apprentice attempted to chance their path of choice to somehow grab onto Shadowpaw, so they twisted and landed on his tail. Okay, that’s a good start. They blue-gray apprentice brought their large teeth down onto Shadowpaw’s tail. A dirty tactic, and maybe not even a real move, but Sharkpaw needed to be clever and quick with their decisions!

Shadowpaw yelps, their eyes narrowing in anger and slight pain. He brings his large paws down on Sharkpaw's ears, not clawing. The cat's blue eyes burn in anger, his black fur puffing up slightly and they hiss, pulling their tail out of Sharkpaw's mouth, ignoring the pain.

The short apprentice was stunned by the larger apprentice’s move. Sharkpaw squirmed and bit the air as they were pushed into the ground. Sadly, this is a fight that the little apprentice wouldn’t win. “Alright alright! You’ve beaten me! Now get your paws off of me,” They looked up at Shadowpaw; well, as best as they could. They had no battle training yet, but they gave it their all!

Sharppaw did not particularly care about Junioerpaw's unpleasant personality, she just wanted to put her skills to the test the young flecked cat approached, face neutral as always, and took a battle stance in front of her new opponent.

This was going to be great! Not only had someone responded to her plea, but it was Sharppaw of all people! The one who was supposed to be better than her, supposedly more responsible. This was the perfect chance for Juniperpaw to, once again, prove to be better than the rest. As Sharppaw took a battle stance, Juniperpaw's eyes narrowed. She almost always went with an immediate lunge, but, for once, she decided to stop and think. Green eyes moved up and down her opponent's body, testing for weak points, not that she found any. Instead, she went for her usual lunge, this time prepared to roll if she missed.

Shadowpaw nods his head and gets off of the other cat, bowing their head low. "I am glad to have fought you, Sharkpaw. It was fun." The cat purrs, turning into a whole new cat. They look at them and purr softly. "Sorry I acted so... Out of control." They apologize. "I just hate losing."

Needlepaw lunged herself at Juniperpaw. She aimed for the hind, hoping to knock her over

Sharppaw observed her opponent carefully, paws planted on the ground. Nevertheless, she was prepared to leap if she needed to. Then Juniperpaw made the first move and leaped at her. Sharppaw crouched low to the ground to let her opponent fly over her. If that succeeded she would swipe up and try to claw her belly as she passed above.

There were still a pawful of apprentices scrambling to finish up the tasks he'd assigned them. He shrugged, he was inclined to give apprentices who were trying some leeway. They were an important future prospect for Shadowclan but he was not one to go easy on laziness. He was more disappointed in everything else that wasn't happening. He had seen his daughter but then she seemed to have disappeared, along with other apprentices who never bothered to show up. If they hadn't already disappeared from the clan he'd make sure to track them down and send them out. If they couldn't make an effort to learn to help their clan then they could be punished as warriors. "Shadowpaw, Sharkpaw. Well done. Take initiative with your training, find a warrior to train you. You don't need to wait on your mentor to find you for your training. And don't miss another responsibility. Our clan runs as smoothly as we make it, your clanmates don't want to be carrying your slack." He nodded his head to dismiss the two. They had served their punishments in earnest and in a timely fashion, he had hope that the two would take the lesson and grow into passable warriors.

Sharppaw was participating in the sparring which was nice to see. He watched the two sparring with some interest. Ashpaw, Ryepaw, and Snowpaw, however, were all notably missing. "Ashpaw, Ryepaw, Snowpaw. If you cannot take your apprenticeship responsibilities seriously then you have no place taking Shadowclan's benefits. Maybe some time on your own will give you a better perspective."

She was more than a little frustrated when Sharppaw responded instantly. Why couldn't others simply forget how to fight from shock and let her do something right for once? Of course, she was prepared this time. Instead of leaving her belly exposed, the molly rolled into a ball, mid-air, and, upon landing on the ground, had the wind knocked out of her. Gasping, she stood up and turned back to the other cat, smirking despite her lack of breath. Had this been any other time, she would have been scratched and landed bad, so only one half of a mess-up was better than a full one.
