The large tom hadnt gone to find any tunnels of his own like the others did simply sitting aside the route they took in to make sure no one chose it on accident (an entirely possible thing, the tunnels got confusing and this one was especially so with all the paths) as he listened into the cats trying out his tips. Honestly the mental image of them all standing there poking out their whiskers for wind was funny and he stifled a rough chuckle even though Crowtooth had no doubt done the same thing on his own sometimes. The tom wondered for a moment what they we're getting if the wind was brushing through their whiskers but that was something only they could determine at the moment given the warrior only planned to check after they'd come to their own conclusions. He'd help though with new lessons.


"Alrighty hopefully you've figured if ya think theres wind by now so we'll move on to another sign. Scents. The wind dont blow down her enough to wipe away scents so they tend to build and stick for a long time so ya can tell oft used pathways by the scent of cats pretty easily. Give things a sniff if you smell me or any other tunnelers its likely that path goes somewhere and if you smell the moor or the wind its prolly an exit. If you smell prey or dust though thats a no go, prey will bring you to a probable burrow and a meal but dust will bring you deeper and closer to death. Everyone give and sniff and tell me what you smell and if you think your path is a way out or not, dont think I dont notice how quiet some of yall are being."

Slatefrost listened carefully as Crowtooth spoke, nodding his head. It made sense that scents were important in finding your way out. In fact, Slatefrost remembered using his nose to find an exit tunnel during that horrid windstorm when he had gotten lost with his family. Slatefrost cut a gaze towards Streampaw, wondering if she remembered. Once Crowtooth finished speaking, Slatefrost turned towards his tunnel. He had picked this one for absolutely no reason at all. But it was just barely talk enough to fit a smaller than normal cat like him.

Slatefrost took a sniff. Then he sniffed again. Well. So either he was imagining it, or this tunnel smelled a bit like Windclan cats. He could smell the faint scent of his own apprentice, Cobwebpaw. Which he thought was a good sign, since his apprentice was vying to be a tunneler, after all. If his apprentice had been here, it meant that this path probably led somewhere, right? "Crowtooth," he meowed, careful to keep his volume low, since it was echo-y and loud down here. "I think this tunnel leads somewhere, I think I'm smelling some tunnelers."
