Nicht saw the bark pieces drop onto Jay's head.
He could smell another cat on them, and Jay's response only confirmed that.
The tom flattened his ears again, and lashed his tail back and forth, clearly afraid.
Something was wrong- there should be birds here, right?

If Beetle wanted to hurt him, he would have done so, right? Combined with wanting Jay to "interact calmly".
This cat seemed experienced... but Nicht saw no reason not to take him up on his offer.

Nicht leapt, trying to bat Beetle with his paws, with all the grace of a kitten.

Beetle didn't even flinch when the cat soft swiped his sheathed claws across his paws. "Are you really trying to kill me? Lets say I just killed your kits. Are you going to attack me like that?"

Beetle's eye twitched and he leaped smoothly over to the cat, landing with his claws less than a mouse-tail away from the annoying toms eye. "One more smart remark out of you, and you'll never see again. Got that?" Beetle then whipped around to Jay " And you..." He flashed over to the tabby. "I don't think you want to fall to an even lower class in the group, do you? Get your ack together, of ill force you to live with us, forever. Keep that in mind next time I send you on a mission, 'k little kitty?"
