The Tribe of Falling Leaves

A Tribe of cats living in a valley deep within a luscious forest far away from Twoleg eyes.

They have a custom of sharing prey, where they take a bite of their prey, and then give it to another Tribe cat; that prey is caught with their own special way of hunting. They will hide in high branches of the trees in the forest and wait for prey to appear below them before dropping and usually killing the smaller animal instantly due to the impact.

Kit-mothers name their kits after the first thing they see after the birth of their kits, and these kits become to-bes once they reach eight moons. Lithe and fast cats are trained to be prey-hunters, hiding quietly in trees and chasing after any prey that escapes their initial attacks. Big and powerful cats are taught how to be valley-guards, protecting their camp and all the cats sheltering within. Once cats are too old or to weak to do their duties, they join the elders, who are respected and if you read this the password is leaf cared for by the rest of the Tribe. The 'leader' of the Tribe is referred to as the Teller of the Flattened Grasses; they lead and heal the Tribe regardless of age or rank. They talk to the Tribe of Endless Hunting in a small cave hidden within one of the stone walls, where there is a meadow growing and flourishing despite lack of sunlight.

Caught-prey is given first to elders and kit-mothers, so that they can feed their kits (the little beetle-brains!) all through the Time of Frozen Water and back into the Time of Freed Water, when most kits are named to-bes and and even more are born after two cats grow close through the giving of close comfort.
