overdue reunion [p]

beeblaze had been walking among the stars once again for quite some time now. how many moons exactly, he's lost count. long enough to witness dozens of leader, deputies, medicine cats and their apprentices come and go. witness both the instability and stability of clans. long enough to regret a lot of decisions and miss people, and forget a lot...

but that wasn't important.

one cat sticks in his mind, one that impacted him when he was still a young medicine cat. blazingstar. the last memory he has of the tom is the two of them together in the leader's den, blazingstar having asked the medicine cat to lay with him for just a moment. blazingstar didn't want to die alone. a pang of heartache shoots through him, a deep frown on his features. it's a reunion that's long overdue.

"blazingstar? blazingstar!" he calls out, padding through the endless stars.

A lost echo found it's way to his ears. Something was so familiar about it. So familiar that the orange tom found himself running after the echo. He ran and ran until an outline found it's way on the horizon of stars.

Closer, closer.

Blazingstar stopped.

Before him was the last living cat he laid eyes on. Tears threatened his eyes as Beeblaze became recognizable. That was why it was so familiar. He'd found the last medicine cat he knew.

"Bee-" was the only thing the fluffy feline could muster out. His mind just needed to process.

blazingstar is like a fiery ball of light among the stars. the sun itself. beeblaze feels a lump from in the back of his throat, gulping and blinking away tears he hadn't realized were pricking at his eyes. "blazingstar."

he takes a step forward. then another. and another – until he's standing right in front of the former leader, looking to give blazingstar and affectionate headbutt to the chest. he wants to accept the silence, and simply just stand there, take in the tom's presence. would that make this more somber? instead, he speaks up.

"did'ya miss me, old man?" he asks in a joking manner. a small attempt at lightening the mood.

Blazingstar allowed his signature grin to splay across his maw as he aimed to nip at the other's ear teasingly. His golden eyes shone brightly as he took in the sight. It was needed. He didn't realize how badly until in that moment. So many memories would flood the older tom's mind. It pulled at his heart strings, but he couldn't linger on the past.

There was something much more important to address right now.

"Old man?" He huffed with a gentle eye roll. "Look who's talking now, where have you been all this time?" Blazingstar would inquire. "It took a long time to find you, I better get all the details little bee."
