Oh great, some random cat had come to annoy her...again. Glancing coldly at the newcomer as they sat beside her, Quietpaw instantly did her best to ignore this cat. Socialising was something that made her shiver with dread. Why would anyone willing choose to participate in such a drull activity? Because they're fond of the cats they speak to? It seemed impossible to her, all the cats she met were either nuisances or utterly stupid.
This one didn't show much promise of being different. Blah, blah, soemthing about the mink fight, blah, blah, blah. Was most of what she absorbed from the useless chatting of the other apprentice. Lingering on the mink fight seemed useless so why were they talking about it? Discreetly rolling her eyes at the classic "I'm going to be the best warrior ever!" Introduction, she silently nodded at the confirming of her name. Magpiepaw, huh? She'd forget that, though the name did sound vaguely familiar...oh yeah, her littermate that just disappeared out of existence was called Magpiekit...she'd hope this one would disappear as well.

Quietpaw obviously wasn't much of a talker and Magpiepaw could tell. She was excellent at picking up on small details, its just she didn't bother to half the time. (Unless that small detail happened to be a noisy little frog who was interrupting her sleep.) She did catch Quietpaw's glare though, and she shot one right back at her. Some cats really just didn't like being friendly, did they? It's not like Magpiepaw had to come over here and bless this odd cat with her presence.
She clicked her teeth together with a soft clank before continuing. If this cat wasn't gonna talk, Magpiepaw wasn't about to see that as an invitation to shut up, no way. This was a challenge now. Game. On.
She mustered a casual smile before counting, her mind very set on annoying this cat. "I bet you those minks taste awful." Magpiepaw flicked an ear towards the pile. "But it's better than voles, honestly anything is better than voles. I'd rather eat a cats eyeball than voles. Oh well, at least I can pretend I kilt them myself." She shrugged her words drowning in sarcasm for the last sentence. She wasn't about to pretend, that was so kitty. "I wonder if Shadowclan will skin all those minks too and make a huge blanket for leaf-bare," Magpiepaw was just rambling at this point. "I wonder if that would be helpful. Heck, if it would even be possible. I'm sure if we really needed it we could do it."
Brown eyes lifted up to the sky as she tried her best to catch a glimpse of the sun without wincing. "Psh, it's not like we'd need it or anything," Magpiepaw scoffed, a genuine smile flickering onto her face. "Shadowclan is the only clan that has some sense nowadays. That's something that'll never change."
Her face hardened. "But this apprenticeship better change soon. I want to be a warrior, especially if that means I can get out more and rake some good for nothing cats to smithereens. I promise you, I'd be hunting like a mad man if I had the chance. I'll just have to find other ways to be helpful, bleh. Even though slitting throats is far more straight to the point than anything else it seems to be the only---" Magpiepaw cut herself off, her sentence going to a staggering halt before she completely changed subjects.
"The meeting surely will be eventful. I know for a fact that I'll be hollering as loud as I can for any of the warriors who aided in this fight, I know I'd want somecat to cheer for me like that. Plus, they made it out with their lives. Something I could've done with ease but y'know, its still impressive and good to know that our clan isn't overrun with disobedient slackers." Her eyes darted over to the fresh kill pile once more. "Oh, and minks too, I guess."

Flamegaze wandered to the meeting to see what was up. she sat down near the edge of the crowd of cats, and fixed her gaze on Dawnstar.

"Honeykit, Fogkit, Silkkit, and Bleedkit. Step up, it's time for your apprentice ceremonies." Dawnstar called for the kittens. Bleedingkit was a bit on the early side, but considering he was an unbalanced hairball, early training might do him good.
"The battle against the minks with WindClan was well fought. We got extra prey out of it, defeated a threat, and stretched our muscles. The very few of you who fought with me, I commended. You have brought honor to ShadowClan, take pride in that." The leader complimented.
"However, we are not without our injuries. Our Enforcer, Silverlark, and new warrior, Palesong, are expected to recover in time. I can't help but wonder if they would have been spared such pain if more warriors had accompanied us to the battle instead of sitting on their asses at camp." Her tone shifted into a nasty growl. She glared down warriors she hadn't seen during the fighting.
"Those peace-loving bunnies had double the number of warriors willing to fight the minks. I was expecting more from ShadowClan, it's one thing for untrained apprentices to stay behind, and another for fully trained warriors to coward within their dens. This is why ShadowClan seems like such a pushover these days, why patrols aren't getting done. Those of you know exactly who you are, lazy, pathetic, kittypets leeching off the hard work of others within the clan." It was insulting and humiliating. With ShadowClan's current numbers, she should have had more than eighteen cats join her for battle.
She had more than eighteen warriors! More than half the clan decided to sit on their asses at home. "From now on, I will give credit where credit is due. When a victory is earned it will be credited to those who put in the work and the effort to earn it, not the whole clan. I will have my Enforcers start questioning and punishing those who think you can sit around and bask in the ShadowClan's glory after doing nothing." She spat irked with many of them.
"I know many were upset with not being able to raid ThunderClan and returning their territory to them. Yet, when I give you a chance to fight, you toss it aside. This is why I decided against fighting ThunderClan. ShadowClan is only as strong as its weakest link, and currently, we have more than enough weak links to drag the whole clan down into the dirt. I will no longer allow the strong to carry the weak, those putting in the minimal effort to be within this clan. Either get your acts together and start putting in the work, or leave cause you don't belong within ShadowClan, let alone any clan, you belong within the dens of twolegs as kittypets."
Yeah, Dawnstar knew that she probably shouldn't have punished the whole clan for the few, but let's be real here, there were more than a few cats being complete trash. As far as Dawnstar could see, any war waged as they were now would result in their utter defeat. Either she needed to start focusing her attention on those strong and deserving enough to be within ShadowClan or she needed to start weeding out the weaklings. Letting things be wasn't work for her or ShadowClan.
"If things don't start changing, we'll have far more exiles and executions on our paws." Dawnstar might have to go back to her old ways if things didn't start changing. Finished with her scolding, her attention returned to the kits as she awaited them. #shcmeeting
Bloomingblaze listened to Dawnstar’s words. Well, she hadn’t been at this specific battle, so she was most likely one of the cats that Dawnstar was talking about. She would definitely have to become more involved in battles and such.
So the little apprentice had been distracted with a rock and hadn't looked up the first time. But her grandmother's voice echoing across the clearing caught Mirepaw's attention and she lifted her head. Oh, there was a meeting! Abandoning her rock the black-and-gray patterned apprentice bolted across the clearing. Her ears perked up at a name, too - Bleedingkit! That was her little brother! She couldn't spot Howls anywhere which was odd...
"Bleedingkit!" she called as she got closer, skidding to a halt with a big grin. "You get to be a 'pprentice today! You get a 'paw on your name - like me!" Excitement had Mire bouncing from paw to paw until she finally plopped down next to him. "I'm Mirepaw, incase you forgot. Which is okay! I don't see you much after..." At the thought of the disastrous family meeting her ears drooped, and her blue-green eyes turned as round as the full moon. "...Are you okay? I'm sorry I haven't come to talk to you after. But I can help you pick out a nest in the 'pprentices den if you want!"
She was aware of her grandma talking, and she sounded angry. Instinctively Mirepaw tried to make herself a bit smaller and scooted closer to Bleedingkit if he would allow it.
Moonmeadow swiftly padded from the warriors den the moment that she heard Dawnstar's voice much louder than it usually was. At least, around camp, and knew that it was a meeting. What was it with her luck this meeting and last meeting about being late. First out hunting and then trying to nap away this killer headache. Moonmeadow must be cursed somehow, but despite the fact that she could hardly make out any cats, and everyone was really just blurring into one fuzzy shape, Moonmeadow padded into the mass and found herself a spot. Looking up at her leader with fuzzy green eyes, the light of the Shadowledge was not helping the whole blind and headache thing, the warriors den was much kinder to her worsening eyes, but the warrior persevered. She was not going to miss another one of the clan's meetings.
Only to immediately be slapped in the face by the news that the bunnies across the border pulled more weight during the mink fight. The warrior cursed the stars and cursed her lazier clanmates, now with Thunderclan thinking something was up due to their offering up land and over all lack of raid for the foreseeable future, and now Windclan who thinks less of them from that kind of turn out. Great. Maybe Moonmeadow should have pulled through and trotted along but she would've been nothing but dead weight during the fight, Lostspark also probably would've had the feline's pelt. Would've been a waste of herbs and her wounds were too serious to even walk around without wanting to topple over let alone fight. She had thought that her clan had it handled, that a fight would get more attention but no!
Moonmeadow let out a sigh and focused on the more positive and less infuriating side of the meeting news. Apprentices! That was good, unless they got duds and learned bad habits, not it would be their faults but Moonmeadow was going to work over time to make sure the youth knew how to actually be a warrior and not skip out and laze about. The warrior was all for the stricter rules, maybe it would get some tails in gear. She still couldn't really get over the fact that Moonmeadow almost went with missing flesh torn from near her neck, and some of her clan mates completely intact decided to hang back. No matter, what done was done, Dawnstar and the enforcers will get it handled. Hopefully, things will get in order sooner rather than later.
The warrior was sad that such words had to be spoken right during apprentice naming, hopefully none of the new apprentices got spooked or felt at blame. But that was just how it goes sometimes. When things got better then apprentices won't have death threats dealt during their time.

Kitty Soft Paws, Heightened Perception [smell]

She wasn't expecting anything good. Honestly, when was the last time the clan cheered over things that weren't ceremonies? She was starting to want to opt out on coming to meetings. And this one wasn't any different to the last ones. Maybe even a tad worse. She thought that there'd just be a few ceremonies, a scolding, and then it was all over. But this time, they were praised? Or at least, the ones that took part in fighting minks- Then life pulled a lucky Uno-Reverse aaaand they were gettin scolded. That didn't last lon- MORE EXECUTIONS AND EXILES? It seems as if the monster of 'Good things that happen in meetings' had broken down and is now rolling down hill at 50 miles per minute and if someone didn't stop it then it'd crash light-eyes-first into the thunderpath! Though she was pretty sure Dawnstar's next words would send it flying through the rough stone, to the grave and back. Welp, fingers crossed she doesn't have to see any executions today. Or ever. Actually never. Does crossing paws count too?

Silkkit's little ears wiggled.
No more missing cats was a good thing, even if such concerns were secondary to him.
He could only nod in response to Hawkbite as Dawnstar started the meeting.
He let his eyes drift to where the scarred tabby stood stop the Shadowledge, drinking in her words as she spoke, and more details about the battle that had occurred were shared, as well as the failures of their Clan. For perhaps the first time in his life, Silkkit was exposed to the short comings of his Clanmates in a broader term.
Lazy, Dawnstar had called them.
He tried to shrink and hide away in his own fur as his eyes began to water, and a heavy weight pressed down upon his belly. Was he also lazy for how long it took him to become an apprentice?
Was that something he could have even done more for?
Silkkit bit his lip when Dawnstar called his name to step forward. To become an apprentice, finally.
And so, on shaky paws, the lilac-point stepped forward.
He was the oldest of those being made apprentices today, and his pelt burned with shame.
He was off to a late and terrible start. He could only hope that Dawnstar didn't decide to punch him by naming one of the warriors she decided to be "lazy" as his mentor.
He already had so much going against him.
He looked over his shoulder, wide eyes searching for the comforting familiarity of Hawkbite's shape among the crowd. It was hard to tell one shape of a Clanmate apart from another up here, side by side with the other kittens, but he thought he could see a brown striped pelt regardless.
He sat, and gave a slight wave to the direction he thought he'd seen Hawkbite in, before turning his head back to stare up at Dawnstar, waiting for her to bring her judgment down upon the lot of soon-to-be apprentices.

While I do not (currently) have any cats in the Clan's, I try to have at least a few role plays with my outsiders (Sedgestorm, Woollyfeather) and my StarClanner Coldamber. Most of my role plays until I feel well enough to keep up with sweeps will be related to Covenant of the Sky duties.
