In Kyoto, Japan, there is a school. It’s quite small, not many know about it. The students there are very strange. None are quite human. They all have features resembling something else, like a fish, a cat, a butterfly... or, in this case, a mushroom.
This school is called Redwood High School.

Now that you know the basics, our story begins.


Ayame was a strange girl. She knew that. Her mushroom head made her stand out, and the things she saw made outbursts very frequent. Even now, she felt like tiny mushroom people were gathering around the somewhat crowded hall. A little giggle escaped her, and Ayame forced herself to move faster. Not a time for spacing out! She had to run off to class. The lockers were glowing bright red, but that wasn’t enough of a distraction, for Ayame was heading to art, the absolute best class in the world.

One could only wonder.. what it would be like to be normal. But alas, nobody in Redwood would be normal. Ever. White ears perked up at the sound of laughter and talking. Now what could they be talking about? A concert? Redwood? Himself? Good question, wolf boy. He strode forward, his ears remaining perked and listening. Mushroom? They were talking about Mushrooms? Oh. No, they were just talking about the mushroom girl. He looked up, seeing a girl with a mushroom head walking away from the scene. He followed after the girl, his interest piqued. This girl was.. in fact, interesting. His sky blue eyes shining in the sunlight breaking through the closed windows. Oh, he could only wonder.. Ah, no, Silver, focus on the girl. He refocused on following the mushroom girl, his white tail flicking behind him every so often.

The little mushrooms were extremely unsettled when she sat down at art class. They kept pointing to this strange white blob behind her, throwing rocks at Ayame to try and get her to focus in on it. She sighed, as one hit her top. They didn’t hurt too much, but she couldn’t focus on what the paint brush was saying. ” 見て！ 見て！ オオカミの少年！“ The mushrooms screamed, their voices distorted. She stared. What? Turning to look at the blob, Ayame finally noticed. It was a wolf boy! ” wolf boy.... “ She smiled and clapped her hands, turning to look at the little mushrooms. They were smiling, but still pointing at wolf boy. ” 彼は見てる！“ The mushroom girl turned away. This was pointless. She saw a wolf boy and that was the end of it.

So this mushroom girl had.. art class? Hm. He watched her paint in silence. She was.. really good. But her focus seemed to be elsewhere, then she suddenly turned to him. He was surprised, his eyes widened a little at her reaction. She wasn't going to.. tell him to go away? How.. odd. Hmm.. Wonder and curiosity filled his eyes as he watched her longer. Silver was silent. Making no noise at all besides breathing, which of course, was technically a noise. What an interesting girl..

She was being watched. Ayame knew this, because the mushrooms kept screaming about it. It was hurting her ears- she felt like they were bleeding rainbows. Each stroke of her paintbrush led Ayame closer to the finished product of her art- it seemed like what had started as an eye, turned into some demented wolf boy. He was everywhere. “Shut up... shut up shut up shut up shut up!” she screeched, hands on ears, and staring wildly at the mushrooms. Oh...no... She had said that out loud.. Hands still over ears, Ayame ran off to the women’s restroom, a haven away from the mess that was her art class.
Eyes wandering to the fire hydrant in the corner, a wolf girl became noticeable only when it was in Ayame’s reach.
She seemed to radiate rainbows.
They hurt Ayame’s eyes.

She wanted it gone.
