Magpiepaw smelled a new scent and heard pawsteps entering the den. She jolted awake, claws out and wings pressed flushed against her black fur, looking around as her eyes settled onto the newcomer's body.
"Wha-" She started, her mind still foggy from the rough sleep she had just woken up from. "Who are you ? How long-" How long have I slept ?! She thought, and coughed a little, awkwardly looking at her paws before looking back at the other, well, apparently apprentice.
"Sorry about that, um ... Hi, I'm Magpiepaw. And you aaare ? ..." She asked, trying to fix that first impression she had given the other cat.

Ebonykit squealed in protest. "My name's Ebonykit. Put me down!" she squirmed, watching the butterfly drift away from her. She looked over at the other kit, Tinykit. Maybe they would become friends. She had never had a friend before, so she was excited to see another cat her age. She remembered what it had been like in the clan before they left. Ebonykit liked the idea of everyone looking after each other. Her wings fluttered slightly on her back. She had never learned to fly, but it was her dream to one day soar among the butterflies.
