Can elders have apprentices?

No. Elders have essentially retired from warrior life and duties, which includes training apprentices.

Nope, not to my knowledge; they are essentially retired and aren't supposed to take on any duties that a warrior would, including training an apprentice.

I don't think so, elders are elders because they've gotten to old to properly perform the duties of a warrior. I don't think an elder would be able to teach an apprentice properly. Now they could probably give advice on techniques when the apprentices care for them. So basically what everyone else said.
