Goldenpaw pounced on a squirrel and dispatched it with a swift bite to the neck. She picked up her catch, then looked around. "Oh, hey Redfeather!" She called, spotting the red furred she.

RedFeather opened her eyes. She turned her head and looked at Goldenpaw. She shyly smiled at her younger friend. RedFeather had been a warrior for only a few days and Goldenpaw wasn't far from joining her. "Hey Goldenpaw!" She called.

Goldenpaw bounded over and set the squirrel down. "So, what's it like to be a Warrior?" She purred.

RedFeather purred. "You know, I've only been a warrior for a few days" she said, her ears going down bashfuly.

No luck.
She stopped looking.

"Good, I suppose." Ebonypaw mewed.
"Where are you off to in such a hurry?" She couldn't help but find it quite queer for him to be running so quickly. She could smell no fear or injury about him, and so the likelihood of him running from something was rather slim, leaving it more likely for him to be running to somewhere rather than from.

She waited, watching his movements as she waited for some response from him. His words were kind and lively, so unlike her own. In some unusual and curious way she was beginning to envy this about him. This pleasantness of voice that she did not possess. How ridiculous though, it was her own doing that brought her voice to how to it was, and her own decision to do nothing to change it. She wanted to hide the emotion in her voice, and she was succeeding. It was rather unlike her to want otherwise.
Hawkpaw nodded, satisfied with the answer he’d been given. He hated seeing his clan mates in a bad mood. No one liked having bad days but they always came anyway. Even if the black and white tom himself wasn’t a particularly huge fan of socialising, he was always willing to help if someone was indeed having a bad day. Unless they wanted to be alone of course. Although they would have to tell the apprentice that they wanted some time in solitude. While the tom might be very intelligent, more intelligent than most of the cats in his clan, he wasn’t so intelligent when it came to friendship and emotions. He often struggled to correctly identify emotions and wasn’t very good with them. Perhaps he’d spend a day sometime talking to different types of cats and studying their emotions. He would willingly socialise without a hesitation if it meant he got to learn and examine something new.

“Nowhere in particular. I just thought a run in the forest would clear my thoughts for a decent amount of time,” Hawkpaw responded. With so many complicated thoughts constantly rushing through his mind, the tom needed a break from all that every now and again. It could be a lot to take in at times and occasionally he just needed to get away from it. He needed to stop thinking about so many things and let his mind rest for a bit. Or else it would get too tired and he would never be able to think of things that matched his intelligence levels. Hawkpaw didn’t lie at average when it came to intelligence and if anything, he found it extremely hard to focus on easy things. He could answer easy questions without even thinking about it. But they didn’t interest him in the way that more advanced things did. He liked to have his mind busy at work and was much more curious about harder things. He struggled to concentrate on things that didn’t interest him. But he wasn’t the only one. That happened to everyone.

As the tom awaited her own response, he used the moment to wonder why her tone was flat compared to his bright and cheerful tone. Hawkpaw might not be very good with emotions, however he at least knew that a pleasant tone of voice would immediately make you likeable amongst most cats. He didn’t mind using a happy tone all the time, but it could be a challenge at times. It wasn’t always easy to be cheerful and if he were to just speak without the forced cheerful tone, he would be quite dull.

Lemon's ears flicked in amusement at his own thoughts. The tom was still himself, but maybe a little too prideful now due to the experiences he'd been through. And survived. And because he had done that, the golden tom felt as if he could take on anything. Except face his former clan.

But being here, talking with Auroraflame, had sparked something new in Lemon. Sparked courage that he knew was there, but it was just hidden by his overwhelming fear. But she was accepting him and what happened to him. So maybe all of the cats in Skyclan would forgive him and still love him. The golden tom wanted to believe that. But he still had his doubts. "Yes, a moon." He sighed. He knew it was time for the truth to come out, that he was scared of facing his former clan. He was scared they would no longer love him. And Lemon couldn't stand not being loved. "I've been living outside of Skyclan territory for a moon because.... I'm..." Lemon took a deep breath, flattening his ears. It hurt every single part of his pride to admit this, but sometimes you just have to do it. "I'm scared that the cats in Skyclan will no longer love me because I left them." Lemon said this quickly, closing his eyes tight as he said it.

When he was finished with the fast-paced sentence, he opened his eyes and let out a sigh of relief. Like he had just confessed a super important and secretive secret. Which in the large loner's mind, he had. And he was not looking forward to what Auroraflame would say about it.
It put a smile on the deputy’s face to see that she’d managed to reassure him. Family was extremely important to the inky she-cat and she knew if she were in Lemonstar’s situation, she would want to know nothing more than if her family were okay. Luckily, she was fortunate enough to not have gone through what the former leader had, and she was glad for that. She might’ve not experienced the full extent of how bad his situation had been, but she didn’t want to find out.

Auroraflame glanced up at the sky for a moment, trying to spot the sun. About a second later, she spotted it peeking out from amongst the leafy canopy. Judging by the position of it, the deputy could just make out that it was sun high. She new that she had duties back at camp. Patrols would be coming back at around now and she had to notify those who she wanted on later patrols. But although she knew she was busy, she stayed and didn’t stop him from talking. Patrols and other duties could wait, they didn’t take very long anyway. This wasn’t something she got to do everyday and if she was lucky, this time would be spent well and she wouldn’t have to walk back to camp alone. Auroraflame listened with a patient expression, curious to hear what he had to say. At his last words, the deputy found her icy hues widening and she had to stop her jaw from hanging open. Lemonstar, the former leader of SkyClan and the cat who had managed to survive an ordeal with twolegs was scared that his former clan would no longer love him. That left Auroraflame shocked and for a moment, she did nothing but stare at him, her bottom jaw eventually dropping a little. It took her a few long seconds for her to realise that she was basically gawking at him and once she had, she straightened up and closed her mouth. She closed her eyes and took in a few deep breaths before looking back at the golden tom. “I don’t know how the twolegs managed to get that into your head but you need to stop it!” Auroraflame scolded, as if she were talking to a little kit. She knew that she shouldn’t scold the former leader, but she didn’t care. If that was the best way to make him understand then so be it. “You were once the leader of SkyClan and a well liked one too. You should know better than to think such nonsense. You led us well and chose us a strong deputy to lead the clan once you were gone. There are bound to be a few cats that won’t like your presence but you shouldn’t worry about them. You’re welcome and loved in SkyClan and that’s all that matters,” Auroraflame said. The tone of voice she used wasn’t an angry one, but rather it was a firm tone. Hopefully the tom would see what she was trying to say, or else she might have to be even sterner with him.

Yes, I do mind," she rushed, her tail waving behind her. She realized too late that the tom was kidding, and relief pooled in her eyes. "Oh," she murmured, glancing away in slight embarrassment but not in any way going to apologize for her outburst. At least he knew that she wouldn't appreciate him intruding, even if she hadn't shown so in the best way. Since when did she care what he thought, anyways? Since when did she really care what anyone thought, really? It had been a long time since she tip toed around another cat, careful of hurting their feelings or angering them, and she never wished to go back to that lifestyle again.

All the molly did was nod at the other's simple statement, but she could practically hear the questions in his voice. She fully expected him to ramble them off- nothing had been keeping him from asking her questions before, anyways- and was surprised, but very appreciative, when he didn't. She'd rather avoid talking about how she wound up in Skyclan if possible. No one knew that story, not even her best friends, and she would like to keep it that way. Her eyes flickered closed again. Big blue eyes widened in horror. "What are you doing? Stop!" Her shrill voice did nothing to stop the larger cat. All the tiny cat could do was watch on dreadfully, waiting for the outcome she dreaded most. Sadly, it was the most probable one as well.

A shiver overtook Marble at the short memory, and she violently shook her head to clear it. She stood up, her pelt still feeling irritated with discomfort. The feline needed to do something to keep herself from remembering; something she didn't normally struggle with while here by herself. Perhaps it was because of Palmettoleaf next to her... it was always a bit hard for her to be around a tom, just the two of them. Even with her best friend, Blazingcomet, flashbacks would still come to her. Of course, he didn't know of her past and she didn't want to burden him with it as well. She also didn't want him to get the wrong idea and think she wasn't comfortable with him- he was her best friend, and she might not show it well, but she fully trusted him.

A swim would do a good distraction, certainly. Without a second thought, Marblestrike bunched her hind legs and leapt forward, clearing the edge of the rock the two had been laying on. She fell into the stream with a loud splash and immediately opened her eyes under the water, watching any surrounding minnows swim away in fear. A few short seconds later her head popped back above the water and she took in another breath- she had been so rushed to get into the stream and away from her thoughts that she hadn't taken in enough air beforehand. This certainly wasn't one of her most graceful leaps into the water, and probably had caused the tom above some fear, but it wasn't like she was intending to impress Palmettoleaf. Blinking water from her eyes and shaking her head to get a bit of it out from her ears, she looked up to see what her companion was doing.
The multicolored's tom fur was bristling as Marblestrike jumped. Did she even know how to swim? What kind of an idiotic stunt was she pulling now? His eyes flashed with anger and fur continued to bristle as he watched her, green eyes flashing before her head came up and he took a deep breath. Palmettoleaf had never really been one to show that he was upset to those he was around. For one thing, she might have just done that to upset him and for another, he wouldn't want to make her feel bad if she hadn't. Putting on a smile, and struggling to keep it there, Palmettoleaf's green eyes still weren't lighting up the way they normally did when his smile was genuine. He liked Marblestrike, there was nothing wrong there - so that's why it was hard for him to feel really genuine. Are you crazy? He wanted to yowl. Did you even think before you did that? The answer, of course, was probably no. She hadn't thought. She didn't ever think. She didn't look like she did, anyways. "I didn't know you knew how to swim," He mewed in a calm, friendly tone. Palmettoleaf was, of course, being careful to keep his voice level. He didn't want her to see how worried he had been - while this wasn't generally something that the tom did, it was a new approach for him.

Perhaps if he wasn't so friendly he could show her that it was better to be friendly and caring and try to make friends with everyone. Though, to be honest... the tom sincerely doubted it. His bright eyes almost seemed to gleam with amusement as he looked down at her. Not a lot of the cats he had met in SkyClan knew how to swim. In fact, it seemed that more had struggles with swimming then knew how to do it. But that was okay, right? Everyone had strengths and weaknesses. His personal weakness was swimming, which was perhaps why he had been so nervous. Although he could tell there had been no reason to be now, of course she wouldn't just do that without thinking!

"It's a good skill to have. Where did you learn it?" The tom went on, his tail swishing behind him in an almost careless manner. This was quite uncharacteristic for Palmettoleaf, considering he almost always looked excited or happy or at least as though he cared about something, but today was... different. He didn't. Or at least he wasn't acting like he did. Palmettoleaf wondered if Marblestrike was going to be fooled by his little act - she seemed too smart for that, but you could never tell - and part of him hoped that she would be. After all, he wasn't doing this for nothing. He was more or less doing it for her, so that she could see it never payed to be unfriendly. You couldn't do anything that way! Why, if Grousestar and Auroraflame were unfriendly, would they have any loners in their Clan? The chances were, no. They wouldn't. Palmettoleaf yawned, his light pink tongue curling up and green eyes closing - though, he didn't really want to keep Marblestrike out of his sight for that long.

When she had jumped, he had felt like a new father or a worried Queen looking after her kits. As though it was his fault or something. Like he needed to protect her. Palmettoleaf wanted to protect all his clanmates, didn't he? They were all important. Every single one had something to give, even the shy ones who sat in the corner of the clearing and never spoke, or the loud ones who forced their opinions on everybody else, or the ones like himself - ordinary, but with what seemed to be extraordinary power anyway. Or, perhaps the ones like Marblestrike. Fierce... but special all the same.

Mousejump felt betrayed. She was willing to give up anything just to learn about the secret that Ebonyfrost seemed to care so much about to deny her own mother. She curled her lip back in a silent snarl, swiveling her head around ti avoid her kit's gaze. Now, the hurt was settling in, but Mousejump tried to bury her pain with a shovel of anger. Folding her ears back, betrayal dancing in her amber eyes, Mousejump hissed at Ebonyfrost. ``And here I thought my own kits could rely on me for anything!`` Tears formed at the edge of her vision, blurring her sight. They were mainly angry tears. ``I thought my kits trusted me! Oh, how wrong I was!`` Shoulder fur bristling, Mousejump growled at herself, stalking a few steps away from her daughter. How had she been so stupid to believe her once-young kits, now full-grown, would continue to look to her for advice and protection? She struggled to accept the fact that her offspring were growing up, and were no longer kits suckling at her belly.
But I can rely on you! I do trust you... Even as the words echoed in her mind she knew that they were false. Empty. She wanted them to be true, but Ebonyfrost no longer trusted as strongly as she had wanted to trust.
This realization came as a shock.
She didn't trust her mother as fully as she believed she had, and if this was natural or if this was ridiculous and stupid she could not tell.
"I..." She began, but the dark feline did not know what to say. Words had escaped her sullen mind.
"I do trust you..." Ebonyfrost's voice had become darker, quieter, barely a whisper. It could not be heard in the coldness of her voice if she was angry, sad, some other emotion alltogether and the feline who's voice it was could not tell which emotion lay behind it.
"At least... I think I do... But this isn't a necessary thing for anyone to know."

Or, perhaps the ones like Marblestrike. Fierce... but special all the same.
Marblestrike had a slight frown on her face when she gazed up at Palmettoleaf. He certainly didn't seem as cheery as he had been earlier during their chat in the clearing and later during their walk. She watched his expression change to amusement however, and whatever curiosity she had she allowed to slip away. "You didn't know me until earlier this morning," she pointed out dryly, swimming over to the shore and getting out to shake the water from her pelt. At least that had cooled her down; sitting on that rock had started to make her hot.

She sighed when the tom asked the obvious question, one that dealt even more with her past. Maybe this was why she disliked making friends even so much- then she had to share more about herself than she liked to discuss. Marble sat down, avoiding Palmettoleaf's eyes when she spoke. "I learned to swim back home. Or, er, in my old territory," she quickly corrected herself. "Me and... my brother would swim in this pond all the time, just the two of us." Her voice held a tint of sadness as she spoke of her littermate and she quickly cleared her throat to change this. "So, can you swim?" The molly changed the topic quickly, turning back around to look up at the top of the rock where the other cat was laying.

She seriously doubted it; not many in this clan knew how to swim. It wasn't as if they had a need to, or any spare time on their paws to learn it for fun. Marblestrike and her brother hadn't needed the skill, per say, but they certainly wanted a way to get out of the den. The pond became their spot to hang out, just the two of them, and as such the close cats began to venture into the water until they both were fairly skilled swimmers. In her young days, Marble would guess that she spend just as much time in the water as she did on land. They had even caught a fish or two, but both of them preferred land prey- swimming wasn't a job for them, rather an enjoyment. Sometimes she missed having a partner to enjoy the water with, as there wasn't anyone here that would and it wasn't as if she wanted to grow closer with any cat. She would be without a partner for a long, long time.

@Raven & Co

Bouncepaw ran after Petalpaw out of the clearing. He was extremley happy right now to be with her. To him the only thing that mattered now was Petalpaw. Exhilaration coursed through him as they sped through the territory. He ran for a few more heartbeats and then stopped, seeing they had found a good place to hunt.

"Do you want to stop here?" He asked, panting. Waiting for her answer, he perked his ears, listening for for prey, and scented for any sign of prey. He heard a rustle in a nearby bush, then he smelled it. Squirrel He flicked his tail towards the bush to signal Petalpaw that there was prey there.
