Dogkit looked up at the Otterstone."I hurt my chest" he told the medicine cat. He showed the she-cat the wounds on his chest from claws digging into it. The fur around the wounds were stained with blood.

Fawnsqueak shuffled from the herb storage to the main part of the den but didn't approach as he saw the kittens, a light frown pulling on his muzzle. Besides, Otterstone had this interaction dealt with, she didn't need his disruption or for the visitors to feel inclined to repeat what the issue was. Not that it wasn't obvious to begin with, the chest wound was pretty nasty to be inflicted on a kit. "Oookay," he said, what was formerly a frown now becoming a deepened grimace, "so, uh, here's a thing to consider.. we don't really have any herbs." No moss balls, no cobwebs, no nothing. Hopefully Otterstone had the magic touch.

She looked over to Fawnsqueak, returning his grimace. Her earlier digging into the herb store had shown that they were cleaned out of herbs.

She turned her head back to the kits, her grimace turning to a smile for the kits. “I wouldn’t worry. A little water to wash it out and a nice...”

she glanced around then den, eyes landing on the rough nests in the den. Scratchy fern and old moss. She could make it work.

She snagged a claw full of the dry moss from one of the nests, submerging it in water. “A nice moss patch.” She came forwards, cleaning the chest wound with the wet moss before wringing it out with her paws. She dried the chest wound before kneading and winding the moss into his chest fur.

It would work.... for now. Before they gathered more herbs. She turned quickly to Fawnsqueak. In a low voice she whispered “He is the first we need to treat. The moss is gonna soak up any more bleeding but nothing more.”

After his response she turned to the kits with a smile. “How’d this happen?” She asked. A kit shouldn’t be hurt like this.

Dogkit let Otterstone do his job and sat there silently. He moved his gaze to his paws at the medicine cat's question."I don't know" he lied.

Skyripple walked into the medicine den. "I've got a thorn in my pad." She winced. "It's a good thing that I have no patrols, but I kinda wish I was busy." @CheetahPelt @Dipper

As much as he didn't know why cats felt the need to come to the medicine cat's den for this, Fawnsqueak was actually glad it was a thorn in Skyripple's pad rather than anything more serious. "So.. that looks serious," he said dryly, grave as he inspected it. "I think we're going to have to take drastic measures, and-- and you might want to tell your clanmates you love them before you do this, but you're going to have to..." A pause, a deep breath. "Pull it out of your pad. I know it's kind of a life-threatening treatment and basically one of the most difficult endeavors you might ever have to do, but it's the only way."

Skyripple shivered. "Really?" She met Fawnsqueak's gaze and saw the sarcasm in there. "Oh, sorry. Could you give me some herbs for it once I pull it out?" She grabbed the thorn in her jaw and pulled it out. Skyripple began to hop up and down. "Ow, ow, ow!" @Dipper @CheetahPelt

Otterstone gave a knowing smile at Dogkit. She leaned in close, so only the small Tom could hear. “Do you want me to ask CloudKit to leave the den? I care about it, and need to know who’s hurting you.” She leaned back, waiting for the young Tom with moss clinging to his chest, to answer her.

[Fawn]

Fawnsqueak debated on that a moment, expressionless. "Uhhhh," he hung on the word, pupils darting anywhere but on Skyripple, "no. Alright anyway--" he moved along quickly with a clearing of his throat, "Don't let anything get in it because the infection will probably hurt way worse than that thorn did, and.. have a nice day."
