The tabby was shocked, struggling not to drop his jaw. This was... this was...! This was favoritism! Nepotism! This was outrageous!! "Dawnstripe! Dawnstripe!" he would call, trying to maintain his good status. Internally, he was seething! This was horrible!! Beastspark wasn’t that bad — he had served Iceystar for many seasons, only to be kicked down and replaced with her own kin!! Well, he sure had some strong opinions for a young apprentice. These were all his own ideas, right...?

That was.... a whole load of information to take in. Doetuft didn't much care about the dispute that seemed to happen between... Dawnstripe and Hailstorm was it? Her sensitive ears picked up on it but... it didn't matter as a whole. Not at that moment at least, but... it seemed, hindsight was a thing. Because not soon after... changes were happening it seemed. And some that would change things... even for her. But not really. Beastspark would be her father no matter his rank or title... it was not that that had brought her to him. It was his caring nature. And so, feeling the only natural thing... as a daughter and as someone who did care for the now former deputy would be to stand up and well... offer as much support as she could. So standing up, she slowly walked her way over, not pausing before she reached him and sat down, beside him, tail resting on his shoulder. She knew she should probably not sit there... but consequences be damned at that time, just because you cared didn't make you weak. And it wasn't like Doetuft in general cared about a whole lot of things. So she sat there, calling out Dawnstripe's name more out of duty than anything. "Dawnstripe... Dawnstripe." Duty done, she could turn to be a daughter... for now unless more significant changes were to happen. But for now, her ears would be turned towards Beastspark, awaiting his reaction.

The tortoiseshell tom rolled his eyes. Ripplefang had woken him before the sun came up, and Spiripaw was not happy. He was the opposite of happy. In fact, if he weren't so adverse to confrontation, he'd have outright refused to get up!

Can't believe we're practicing this early. I mean, come on!

Still, it wasn't like Spiritpaw could do anything about it- not without getting in trouble.

Tail drooping sadly, the apprentice made his way over his mentor, a sour expression on his face. His paws squelched in the thick mud as he stepped.

Doesn't mean I have to pretend I like it, though.

"Oh boy. Fighting. A kit's method of settling conflict. Honestly, when are the leaders going to lean what diplomacy is?"

And when will mentors learn about sleep?

Still, for all his talk, Spiritpaw knew that fighting was an essential part of being a warrior. Of course he would learn it. He didn't mind that aspect of training.

What he did mind was when it encroached on his rest!

Spiritpaw opened his mouth to make another snide comment, but a long yawn interrupted him.

Bearstrike's ears oerked up and the massive tom rose to sitting position. Finally, Icestar was doing SOMETHING intelligent for once! A grin split his muzzle and he howled his support to the sky. "DAWNSTRIPE! DAWNSTRIPE!" The useless toddler deputy was gone, out of the picture. Maybe now ShadowClan could get back on its feet.
