Elmshadow snorted and lowly meowed, "Rocks mangle moor grasses. Would you like a demonstration?"

Elmshadow flexed his claws into the soft soil beneath his pads. His ears fell backwards and his stomach churned with battle-preparation. The fire of the fight lit within him. All these words were pointless, he want to sink his claws into Windclan flesh. It'd been too long.

Goldenstep jumped upright, anger pulsing through her. She pushed her way to Elmshadow's side and hissed, "How dare you! You couldn't be half the cat Elmshadow is! And he could have you crawling back to your lousy hole in the ground with one leg broken and blinded!"

Elmshadow shot a look of shock at Goldenstep. That's a fire I'm not sure I've ever seen from her.

But he turned his attention back to the Windclan warrior. He took in a breath and stood up straighter. Dismissively he meowed, "Yes, Shadowclan warriors don't need fancy words to prove our worth. There's enough proven in our fighting."

Goldenstep was taken aback momentarily by the 'wife' comment, a small fluttering opened up her rage just slightly. She looked at Elmshadow with round eyes, unsure how he'd react.

Coolly, Elmshadow took a pace forward. "I don't need to make you mad, like you couldn't make me mad. You just make me hungry for wind-blown pelt," he growled the last words. "Come touch this border and figure out just how not angry I need to be to shred you from ears to tail tip."

"I obviously made you mad, which made you stupid and unalert, or otherwise you would have noticed I am touching the border." he said, looking pointedly at his claw over the intangible line.

Goldenstep hissed. But she cut it off and looked to Elmshadow. Quietly, she urged, "Elmshadow, he's not worth it. He's not going to do anything. He's trying to provoke you."

"Then stay out of it," Elmshadow growled with a smile, his eyes never having left Elderflare. The thrill of the fight was already itching at the beds of his claws. He leaned his weight back into his haunches then launched himself, screeching, at the Windclan cat. "How could I be mad when you give me such an opportunity?"

(What are the rules? No killing, no maiming. Injury?)
