Well I didn't tell anyone,
But a bird flew by,
Saw what I'd done,
He set up a nest outside,
And he sang about what I'd become.
Several sunrises ago, Birdwing, the Successor of the Tribe of Shooting Stars, had murdered her own mother, Flowerheart, out of pure rage. Birdwing didn't realize what she'd done, nor did she know why she snapped. At that moment, her own sister passed by. Horrified, Poppydaze, her sister confronted her. "Why did you do this? She was our mother!" Poppydaze began to back away.
He sang so loud,
Sang so clear,
I was afraid the neighbors would hear,
So I invited him in,
Just to reason with him,
And I promised not to do it again.
Birdwing calmly talks to her sister, keeping her voice low. She offered for Poppydaze to take a seat, and she would explain everything. She even promised that she would never do it again.
But he sang,
LOUDER AND LOUDER INSIDE THE HOUSE,
AND NOW I COULDN'T GET HIM OUT,
SO I TRAPPED HIM UNDER A CARDBOARD BOX,
STOOD ON IT TO MAKE HIM STOP,
PICKED UP THE BIRD ABOVE THE DIN,
AND SAID, "That's the last song you'll ever sing."
No matter how calm and soothing Birdwing was, Poppydaze screeched to the top of her lungs, "Killer! Killer!" The healer sped back to camp, screeching the words over and over. Fearful for the secret getting out, Birdwing caught up to Poppydaze, and tackled her. The Successor pinned the Healer down, fur bristling, and eyes blazing.
Held him down, broke his neck,
Taught him a lesson he wouldn't forget.
Birdwing snapped her sister's neck that day. Her family was dead. Birdwing was all alone. The warrior left the clearing, and washed the blood off of her. The Successor entered the camp, and screamed about her family's demise. Some were shocked, some heard the screams of terror from Poppydaze, some were non-chalant. All the Tribe knew was that there was a murderer among them. Guilty and scared for her life, Birdwing kept her mouth shut. No one would know. No one. Now the Clan was without a Healer, and a beloved Respected One.
Leader: Pretty obvious. One thing different from Clan leaders is that the new name for the leader is "(Name) the Star Chaser."
Successor: Basically a deputy.
Healer/Healer Apprentice: A medicine cat, except they read the stars and tell the Leader.
Hunters: Warriors who hunt.
Fighters: Warriors who fight.
Trainees: Apprentices. They are decided what they will be from the moment they are born.
Young Ones: Kits.
Respected Ones: Elders.
A beautiful forest with oddly shaped trees. It's always sunny here. Prey is plentiful. But when prey is plentiful, so are predators. They often move around, but they settled here for a while. Since Poppydaze and Flowerheart died, they will stay until the murderer is exiled.
