Lightningpaw and the cursed Apprentice! (P)

Lightningpaw would hiss at the Apprentices words. "I haven't forgotten about anyone or anything! I just know that Follownose is with Starclan now! They will always be watching over Windclan! But what does my grief do for the clan? Me grieving would drive me crazy with as much time as I got on my hands!" Lightningpaw would hiss his tail lashing he had to dig his claws into the ground to keep from lashing his claws across Rabbitpaws face. Lightningpaw also cared about the Deputy he knew but he wasn't sure how he should grieve instead he could only focus on the future. On the battle with Riverclan on the cats who murdered his Deputy! Lightningpaw had to get away from Rabbitpaw before he did something he regretted. He would turn around and stomp off his claws flinging dirt in his wake. Getting his pelt and feet unusually dirty and for once not obsessively grooming himself to clean it.

For the rest of the day and not Lightningpaw wouldn't speak to Rabbitpaw going as far as to turn his back to the young apprentice in the den. And although they sometimes shared tongues after eating they didn't even do that. Lightningpaw usually was easy going and the like but right now Lightningpaw was very much holding a grudge. 'Try and insinuate I didn't care about Follownose! Mouse-brained Rabbitpaw! Of course I cared!' Lightningpaw would continue to stew.

Rabbitpaw felt like Lightningpaw was projecting in some way. That he didn't know what to do with his own grief and is forcing Rabbitpaw to feel the same. Well, he was sorely mistaken then, Rabbitpaw can be grieving and helping the clan. His mourning doesn't control his life and he thinks he is being relatively healthy about it. It wasn't like he was letting it control his life or anything. But before the tom opened his mouth to sleep, Lightningpaw was padding away. Well, fine then, best to just let him go and see how wrong he was about this. Rabbitpaw wasn't Lightningpaw and so Lightningpaw could expect him to react to Fallownose's death the same. It was his fault, not Rabbitpaw's. Rabbitpaw had been honest about feeling sad and then what? Lightningpaw threw that right back into his face and he had the nerve to act upset? As if!....unless... was Rabbitpaw in the wrong? The apprentice wasn't sure.

Green eyes watched carefully as the ginger apprentice left his view. Rabbitpaw felt guilty, he should've just given into what Lightningpaw said but...what was he searching for? Rabbitpaw was being honest with himself, he wasn't sure what else Lightningpaw wanted him to say. This was all too confusing for him, what should Rabbitpaw even do? Lightningpaw probably hated him and now he lost a friend. With a small wince, Rabbitpaw finally turned away and decided to search for his mentor. Crowtooth would know what to do! His mentor probably could tell Rabbitpaw if he was wrong or right...because Rabbitpaw wasn't sure who else he could turn to, maybe his mom, but he didn't want his mom to worry about him right now, she was already so stressed out with his siblings.
The blonde apprentice sighed and decided to focus on finding Crowtooth first.

After his freak out, or whatever it was that happened to him after his talk with Crowtooth, Rabbitpaw had shakily gotten to his paws. Still not completely sure that they would hold his weight in the remnants of his...of what felt like a near-death experience in his mind even though all that happened was a chat with Crowtooth and a fight with Lightningpaw. It was normal parts of life, Rabbitpaw wouldn't be able to get along with everyone all the time. Though it still made worry gnaw at his stomach and he chose to skip out on dinner that night. Instead he padded to the apprentice's den, Lightningpaw was in there but the ginger tabby turned away from when he came through the door and Rabbitpaw physically winced at the cold shoulder being thrown at him. Though he deserved it, after all he was the one in the wrong and had said bad things about Lightningpaw just because he was upset. Rabbitpaw wasn't a kit anymore, he couldn't lose his temper. Not that really remembers having done so before this, what Lightningpaw had said just struck a certain nerve that Rabbitpaw himself didn't realize he had until this.

He allowed Lightningpaw his time alone, obviously he didn't want to see Rabbitpaw so forcing an apology on him now wouldn't be the best course of action. Hopefully he will be more willing to listen tomorrow. What would Rabbitpaw even say though? How do you open that kind of conversation? And Rabbitpaw still didn't understand why Lightningpaw had been so upset with him in the first place. Crowtooth says that it was because Rabbitpaw was going too fast, did Lightningpaw not like it that Rabbitpaw was going too fast? It wasn't like Rabbitpaw felt like he needed to prove something, no, rather he was trying to not be a burden. Oh...wow...that sounded really depressing just saying it bluntly like that. He just means...his curse and all. That was a lot to make up for so that's why he needed to always be learning and getting better, though he also liked learning. Rabbitpaw liked knowing about the world around him!

For now, it was time to sleep. Tomorrow will be a new day, and he would be able to talk things out with Lightningpaw. And perhaps figure out what his freak out was earlier. Though that was probably, hopefully, most likely, a one time thing and not something that he has to worry about anymore. The blonde found his nest and curled up in it. It was cold. Though it always was, but for some reason it was a different kind of cold tonight. He misses Quailheart, he thinks, which is silly because Rabbitpaw sees her everyday around camp and doing things. But something is wrong with her, Rabbitpaw wasn't dumb, he could see that she was hurting in some way. At first he thought it was grief, and that was probably a fraction of it but there was something else there as well. He closed his green eyes and set his head down on his paws. He slowed his breathing and knew that sleeping was going to evade him like a rabbit on a chase tonight.



The next morning came both too fast and too early for Rabbitpaw. It was the movement of his fellow apprentices leaving for their daily stuff that woke him up. Though it still took more than a few moments for him to fully wake up and remember both his night and the fight before that. He looked over... though Lightningpaw seemed to be gone and as he looked outside he realized that it was late morning. Oh, so he was sleeping in now too, what a mess. Though given his night that wasn't too out of the blue honestly. He didn't really remember his dreams unless they were on the spiritual side of things but sometimes he wakes up and thanks the stars that he can't remember. he doesn't want to know what has him biting his tongue to not scream, eyes tearing up, and his heart racing as he has woken up like more than a couple times. Probably some remnant of before that only the very bottom of his brain remembers.

The apprentice sighed which turned into a yawn, which led him to stretching in his nest before padding out into the clearing and looking around for Lightningpaw. Who he found out in the clearing after some short looking. Umm, has he eaten yet? Perhaps having this chat over some prey wouldn't hurt, and also Rabbitpaw was very hungry from not actually eating any meal before bed. So rather than making his way towards the apprentice first thing, the blond turned and made his way over to the fresh kill pile to collect a rabbit big enough for him and Lightningpaw. Okay, enough stalling, time to clear this up.

Rabbitpaw slowly made his way over to Lightningpaw and set down the rabbit in front of the ginger tom. His green eyes moved from Lightningpaw to a different part of the clearing nearby so he wouldn't have to make eye contact even if accidentally. "I..I want to apologize. I wasn't thinking when I said that you forgot about Fallownose... I was just upset with what you were saying about me taking my own time to mourn the way I always have... and I just snapped back at you when I knew you were only trying to help. I want to try this conversation again, if you would be willing." That was a good start, Rabbitpaw thought but he wouldn't know until Lightningpaw gave his reaction to it.

Lightningpaw was grooming himself as he usually did outside the Apprentices den. The orange tabby seemed to be in a better mood today so hopefully that worked in Rabbitpaws favor. When the Apprentice dropped the Rabbit in front of Lightningpaw he looked at the prey item with interest. "How'd you know Rabbit was my favorite prey?" Lightningpaw asked Rabbitpaw before stopping to listen to Rabbitpaw begin his apology. Lightningpaw would scoot a bit aways to let Rabbitpaw in next to him without touching Rabbitpaw if he sat down next to him. Rabbitpaw hopefully didn't take offense to Lightningpaws clean habits of not liking to touch with most cats. However the gesture was likely reassuring to the blonde cat that Lightningpaw was at least ready to talk. Lightningpaw would take the first bite of the Rabbit. The prey wasn't warm anymore but it still tasted good despite that. @Dolomedes
