He was told that the end was nigh,
and it's happening here and now.

No! No! Say it isn't so!
This isn't my destiny,

I'm not ready to go!
Let me explain, see...

~ ANDY, COLLEGE-AGED BOY - HE/HIM ~

Tall, slender man with pale skin, smooth brown hair, and clover-green eyes.

The day was not a pleasant one for a picnic. Andy sat on the red-and-white checkered quilt his boyfriend had brought, softly stroking it with one hand. The soft yet smooth fabric slipped between his fingers like threads of thought, fleeting but sometimes rough and catching at the edges. It was easy to fixate on the old quilt and ignore the weather outside. Why did we think this was a good idea? he wondered with a silent sigh, chapped lips barely parting to release the slightest smidgen of air. The wind lashed at his face, flushing his pale skin to ruddy red and turning his nose into a long block of ice. His silken brown hair, which he'd spent so much effort combing, was now a touseled mess atop his finely-shaped head. Andy didn't even bother touching it. He didn't want any idea of what it looked like.

"Isn't this wonderful?" Andy's sister, Merlinda, threw her hands into the air and laughed. Her long blonde hair fell back like a waterfall made of sunshine, and her nose, stuck so valiantly in the air, looked like the red-hot tip of a gun that had just finished firing.

No, Andy thought, suppressing a shiver. He was tucked in a fleece-lined coat, bright red against the dull and dying grass. He'd known it would be cold. But not this cold. A fierce breeze ran through him like he was nothing more than a ghost. Andy shivered this time.

"Come on, Andy! I know you hate the cold, but you're not usually this miserable!" his boyfriend, Jared, chuckled. There was a big smile on his warm brown face and a twinkle in his dark eyes, one Andy usually loved, but now, it just irritated him. In a light-hearted way, of course. But why did any of them think this was a good idea?
