RiverClan Nursery

[Featherflight]

(Featherkit came into riverclan, found by a riverclan warrior. She is half riverclan, half thunderclan, and her sister, hazelkit is in thunderclan.) Hazelkit heard the noises around her and sighed, she wanted to go and explore, but she had to open her eyes first. She thought of her mother, how she smelled of herbs and fish before she died, if only she had stayed in camp to give birth, featherkit thought, then I would have a mother and have hazelkit to play with... Featherkit shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts of her sister, hazelkit. She had no idea where hazelkit was, and the queens tried to assure her that she was still alive, but featherkit heard the uneasiness in their voices, telling her that her sister was probably dead. Featherkit hated all the thoughts in her head and decided she needed a distraction. She sighed, knowing the best distraction would be to open her eyes, so she took a deep breath and let the light surround her.

Cedarkit was soon to be an apprentice. In fact, he was just waiting on Fallenstar to give him his apprentice name and mentor. The process seemed to be taking forever, but the young tom was ready to get out of the nursery. Ready to make friends and see the territory. He was ready for the life of a clan cat, even if he came from loner roots. With that said, the ginger and white she-cat seemed lonely. He hadn't seen his siblings lately and he rarely saw either one of his fathers. The last one he spoke to was Russetswirl and that was two moons ago! So the kitten curled up in the nest he had chosen to sleep in and quietly thought about his broken family. It saddened him each day.

things had been...uneventful these past few moons, but cedarkit was growing older day by day, and whisperblaze couldnt be more proud. he slipped into the den, a small piece of fresh kill in his maw. he was getting older, after cedarkit has announced an apprentice, whisperblaze was planning to finally retire as an elder. growing up he didnt think hed live this long to see the elders den, with how close to death he seemed at every corner sometimes, but he was happy. he would watch his kits grow older, with their own families, just as he did. he couldnt wait to call himself a grandfather. "Cedarkit, i pick up your lunch." he mewed softly, maw still full of a tiny rodent, a mouse he was carrying. "And before you ask, no, it does not have bugs on it."

Cedarkit poked his head up out of the nest when hearing Whisperblaze come in. His small ears perked up and he sat up straight as the tom came closer with the rodent. His tail tip twitched with anticipation. "Wrong!" he spoke loudly compared to his father's soft voice. "All animals have bugs on them!" he cooed, bending over the rodent with a wide gaze to prove the light colored queen wrong. His face got so close to the rodent, that it was shocking he didn't poke his eyes with the fur. "I call them.. tinybugs! They crawl all over birds and rodents!" he spoke again, his voice a little quieter with focus as he stared hard into the rodent's fur until finally he saw movement. The ginger and white tomkit jumped into the air at that point. Upon landing, he pointed his paw at the piece of prey. "THEY'RE ON IT!! I TOLD YOU SO!" he yelled, disrupting the nursery's normally quiet nature. Cedarkit was so proud of himself for knowing about those tiny insects and he made it known.

whisperblaze raised an eyebrow, sighing. he was hoping to have a bug free afternoon. but with cedar, that would never happen. he slinked into the den, plaving the mouse down so cedarkit could eat, snugging himself back into his nest where it was still warm from when he left. he spent most of his time in or right outside the nursery, letting cedar catch whatever bigs he could in the clearing. "You know, when youre an apprentice, youll get to see so many bugs, more kinds then there are in the clearing." he said in a dramatic voice. he knew that cedar felt.. a bit alone since all of his siblings were growing up a bit faster than him, but he would always keep his kit company. "Youll have to make sure to bring me back the prettiest ones."

Driftingkit, her breathing slow and soft, gently yawned, her pink mouth displaying her tiny white kit fangs. She had tiny, delicate gray ears and soft fluff all around her body, dark gray tabby markings littered all over her cloud-like pelt. She snuggled in closer to the warmth of her mother’s fur, and her paws kneaded the soft moss she was dozing on. She could smell the nursery, the scent of warmth and calm easing her gently from the sleeping to the waking.
She moved slowly to the edge of the nest, and soon teetered on the edge, her paws just nearly managing to hold on.
Her short stubby whiskers twitching, she sniffed the air, as if almost testing how dangerous her surroundings were. Cold air hit her, but it was still strangely warm and welcoming. But she felt the warmth of her parents gone. Letting out a small, highpitched mewl, her tail quivered. No twoleg nor other creature could hear her, but the other felines recognized her wail of fright.

Duskferns content face melted into a worried one, and he quickly raced over to the little kit, grabbing her by the scruff and depositing her back into the nest.

Brokenkit meweled as she felt her sibling thump into the nest beside her.
