Dawnkit was sat at the edge of the nest she shared with her mother and siblings, watching the other cats in the nursery talk and play with the kind of interest only a kit could truly harness. All these families are so close... she mused thoughtfully. Are they just like that right away, or do they have to get to know each other first? Mother doesn't know me, but she loves me, and I love her... hm, weird. Her green eyes were wide and round and bright with a curiosity that had taken up all of her attention. This meant that the voice suddenly speaking up beside her was unpleasantly startling, eliciting a small squeak from the ginger she-kit, who hopped to her paws and stared at her brother in surprise. "Sunflowerkit!" she huffed, internally proud of herself for remembering his name (names were hard). "You made me jump."

Sunflowerkit hung his head in shame,” Sorry Dawnkit.” He appologized. He felt really guilty for scaring his sister,” I don’t mean to be scary.” He appologized guilt filling his every word,” I just wanted to play with you.” He admitted.

Honeybee gave a soft purr,” I love you Seedkit.” She murmmered softly licking her fur gently.

Honeybee purred her heart full of pride, it made missing her mate more bearable. She loved her five kits dearly and would protect them at all costs.

"You weren't scary, mousebrain," Dawnkit sighed, gently flicking her brother over the ear with the tip of her tail. "I just didn't see you coming, so you made me jump!" She glanced around at the nursery one last time, satisfied that she'd learned all she could for now, then turned back to Sunflowerkit, smiling reassuringly. "We can still play together, if you want."

Sunflowerkit revealed a small smile,” I wasn’t?” He squeaked relief filling his voice. He tipped his head a little,” What game should we play?”

Dawnkit gave a little shake of her head at her brother's question, flashing her own warm smile once again to let him know it was okay. "Hm..." She glanced around the nursery, frowning thoughtfully, until her gaze eventually fell upon their nest. "How about mossball?" she suggested, tugging a small clump of spongy moss free with her front claws. It was a simple game, and one every kit had played before, but there really wasn't much else they could work with when they weren't even allowed out of the nursery yet.
