Shiny hunting can take way way longer than an hour XD
I once found a shiny pawniard after only 30 eggs and a shiny joltik in 4, but I've been trying to get a shiny eevee on and off since like october, and it once took me 10k resets for a shiny treecko so it's all about luck.
There's only 2 methods to raise your odds.
Masuda method is definitely one of the simplest/easiest, but you can't get the square type of shiny with it, just the star kind.
How to do the masuda method: You need one pokemon from your country, and another pokemon from another country (that the game registers as another country, if the nickname is in a different language that's a good sign.) It's that easy! Put them in the daycare and the chances for a shiny are about 1 in 600 instead of 1 in 4100! Have a pokemon with Flame Body or Magma Armor to hatch the eggs faster. If you've beaten the game, if you go to the building next to the Pokemon center in Circhester, on the second floor you can fight Shigeki Morimoto and if you beat him he'll give you the Oval Charm, which increases the chance to have eggs spawn at the nursery.
The next method is used in the overworld. You need to knock out the same pokemon a bunch of times in a row, and the more you knock it out the higher your odds get. You have to continuously encounter and knock out the SAME species of pokemon or else your chain will break.
The last method (and my favorite) isn't anything special you have to do. If you have the Crown Tundra DLC, you can go on Dynamax adventures for legendaries. The odds for shinies is a whopping
1/100! Unheard of odds! The catch is that the npc characters are completely useless so it's best to connect to the internet to do the raids with other people, and you need a Nintendo Online subscription. Raids take about 15 minutes, and you can catch a max of 4 pokemon including the legendary. This means the shiny odds if you aren't looking for anything special is 1/25.
The best item for shiny hunting is the Shiny Charm, which increases the base odds from 1/4096 to 1/1356. You get this by completing your pokedex, which is a pain but worth it if you love hunting.
For your Elite 4 troubles, I would say Chansey chaining, but you can only do that after you beat the game.
FYI, transferring pokemon from Home wouldn't work anyway, because you can't trade pokemon from newer games to older ones. Sorry.
Your best option is to go to Mt Lanakila, because it has the highest level pokemon before the league, and just grind on wild pokemon. Max out your pokemon's affection in Refresh to give their experience yield a multiplier. 2 or 3 Rainbow beans will max it out.
For post game, go to Poni Grove (inaccessible until after champion) and SOS chain wild Chansey until you have what you want. Adrenaline orbs will make them call for help more often.
If you really need help, I can trade you some Pokemon from my copy!
Hope this helps!
