Raventalon heard footsteps in the warriors den,having just listened to Swanheart and Coldwind's conversation.She pulled away from the wall quickly,sitting down where she was sure her step-daughter would see her.The black she-cat smiled at her daughter as she walked out,but it wasn't happy or in greeting,and seemed a bit unsettling."Why hello Swansong.Getting a bit close to that grumpy old cat are we?" She asked cooly,curling her tail around her paws.

Swanheart padded out of the den and her ears perked as she heard her step mother
" y-yes I am he is not a grumpy tom just misunderstood and it's Swanheart not song " she meowed and sat down in front of her step mother with a soft smile but seeing raventalons smile just set her fur on end. She looked at her paws feeling a lump in her throat" how are you lately? " she asked

"That's what they all say.And for your information,I said Swanheart." She lied."I've been doing just fine lately,but you on the other hand,not so fine." She said,losing a bit of her fake smile and positive attitude.She never was good at keeping it for long anyways when she was around Swanheart,the cat she was stuck watching after.She smiled a bit again,hoping that other cats around thought it was just two friends talking.

She looked up at her step mother with a puzzled look her left ear twitched as did her nose. She tilted her head " what you mean? I have a daughter who is ever so dear to me. And I haven't done anything wrong. And just a small warning loving step mother do not harm a hair on purekit , if anything happens to her I will be devastated . " She meowed her voice all breathy she scratched her ear again a small purr came from her throat.

SnakeBite strode across the clearing to the fresh-kill pile, and picked up a plump mouse. She ate it in silence, with her mate's flank up against her, breaking the silence she said "Lets go on a hunting patrol.". "Huh" said DarkStorm,"Me, you, hunt! Come on DarkStorm!". "Okay, okay." replied DarkStorm as he slowly got up, and paced after SnakeBite.

Soon they returned with 3 mice, 1 rabbit, and a vole. SnakeBite proudly took her kill to the pile, DarkStorm following behind.

It seemed as if raventalon had been waiting for her daughter to ask that question since they started talking.She leaned forward until she was face to face with swanheart,her yellow eyes burning wickidly into hers."Your being tricked.That Tom is going to crush your heart.If I was you,I wouldn't socialize with him,or go anywhere near him." She hissed."And I would never hurt your precious purekit.That gray Tom on the other hand,he would tear purekit limb from limb,laughing about it the next day.What do you think happened to his kits?" She continued,feeling quite satisfied with herself about 'Saving' her step-daughter from this evil cat.

Swanheart was wide eyed as her step mother was eye to eye with Her she could swear she felt her pupils shrink. But what she said about coldwind it couldn't be true ! He lost his only love in the gathering he was so kind to her , her ears flattened in fear and sadness
" he has no kits and that isn't true! His mate died in the gathering ..... He was kind to me! And charming there is nothing but a misunderstood tom " she hissed back she saw the kindness in others and she hoped hoped that raventalon and coldwind were good. " if you so much as try even try to bring my family down there will be war and I would hate to do that mother " she meowed and backed up slightly

She purred cooly."I believe her name was Fernshade if I remember correctly.The only reason I know is because I was there right when she died.She told me everything and told me to pass it on it he ever tries to kill another poor,innocent cat like yourself."

"The world is just cruel like that sometimes.But I can get rid of him.Forever." She said mysteriously,but sothingly.She sat beside Swanheart,offering no affection,but she had a sympathetic expression.It's all going as planned. she thought to herself,being carefully not to let her victory show.She would have plenty of time for that later.
