I think he'll believe the one who doesn't smell of Shadowclan stink! Fleetwind hissed, his fur bristling. Besides, you DID cross the border, if nothing else! With that leader, that alone could make a battle! @Star Wolf

Fine. Fleetwind huffed, bounding back to camp. He didn't want to deal with that stupid butt anymore. He was going to tell Buckstar, and he was going to do it now.

Agreeing that they needed to move along quickly - he knew firstpaw how standing around waiting for a straggler to show up could ruin a patrol - Finpaw dutifully followed Acornpelt out of camp and to the ThunderClan border.

“Do you think their side of the border won’t be so well guarded, like Dawnstar said?” he asked, hoping a bit of small talk could break the long stretch of silence during their trek through the forest. “She sounded like she had reason to believe they haven’t been checking it properly.”

“Maybe,” His voice was, as usual, flat and without emotion, “Perhaps there’ll be a rogue or something or the other vying for a fight.”

"We can only wait and see." Acornpelt told Finpaw. She kept a strong and steady pace. The Warrior tried to not get distracted by the beautiful scenery, after all the had a job to complete. Acornpelt heard and felt the crunch of dead leaves underneath her paws, and smiled as she remembered her days as an apprentice and how much fun she had. The tabby slowed down slightly as they reached the border.

I kinda hope not, Finpaw thought nervously, though he kept his polite smile towards the other apprentice and hummed an agreement. The last fight he’d been in with an outsider during a border patrol hadn’t gone so great…

Once they reached the border, he took the initiative to step past Acornpelt and begin scenting the air for any signs of trespassers. While he couldn’t smell or hear anything outside of the usual, he did take note that they were standing upwind of the border’s main stretch; anything could be up ahead and they wouldn’t know until they got close to it.
