Message from a future zoologist
Hi there! I'm PhoenixHeart, as you can see, and I want to be a zoologist someday. And even though I'm not quite there yet, I want to try and start making a difference now.
Loggers are destroying animal habitats daily, tearing down beautiful forests filled with life, like the Amazon Rainforest. They are killing animals, taking away their homes, and much more for money. Money. Imagine that. Now, imagine a peaceful day in your house. You're eating lunch. All of a sudden, everything starts shaking. Then a bulldozer crashes through the side of your house, and that's just how it starts. In a matter of minutes, you don't have a home anymore. And the people who bulldozed your house did it for a couple thousand dollars that they got for selling the materials used to build your house. That's what happens to innocent creatures every day.
But, we can stop this!
Whose fault do you think it is that loggers are destroying habitats and forests? Believe it or not, it's ours, as consumers who buy the product. We buy the materials and we're the reason they keep getting more and more money. But we can't really go without wood, can we? We need it to make paper, build things, and so much more.
So what if we made a demand for a new type of material? The greedy people who want all the money go where the money is, right? So if we make a demand for a new material and start buying that, then they won't cut down any more trees because we just don't want wood anymore! We don't want to buy it! Of course, this won't stop the problem completely. But it'll definitely slow it down a LOT.
So, anyone have any ideas for materials that don't require any habitat destruction that we can use as an alternative to wood? Don't forget to mention me @ PhoenixHeart!

Re: Message from a future zoologist
Also golden bamboo lemurs!
People have started thinking of alternatives to plastic packaging. If we get a really efficiant alternative to packing peanuts, that would help a ton. Just think how much packing peanuts you get per package! It's insane!
Also one way you can help is do your research about which fishing companies fish using renewable fishing ie. not cast nets or things that can get other sea animals caught in it. Especially tuna and stuff. Don't litter, if you see litter pick it up, reuse your water bottles, recycle when possible.

No, I mean that people would grow their own bamboo and use only that bamboo

Aah, that would be cool! Bamboo is pretty strong, and is the fastest growing grass in the world! @ Cocoa <3
(finally, my useless knowledge coming in handy!)
