Background info:
There is a long history of bad blood between RC and SC that dates way back and has by now escalated into what has got to be the worst relationship between clans Ive personally ever seen and frequent fights.
It dates back to Clan Origins actually (which Dipper and I were working on), where RiverClan split into ShadowClan due to a disagreement. In roleplay, the Clans have fought each other a lot - even tore the forest into a massive war once too I believe. Lion refueled it because of a border conflict where "ShadowClan moved the border into RiverClan territory" and Windystar/Forestshade (past leaders) did nothing to fix it or investigate further. Lionstorm at the time readied a battle patrol to attack ShadowClan over the border, but because Windy/Forest had died and resigned respectively, he didn't attack. ShadowClan was pretty disrespectful to him though so.. he took some of their territory and attempted to steal fire from the old TC flames to burn them too. (ShadowClan is very swampy so it didn't cause much damage.)
Lionstar met Icestar when she was already leader, strutting around like a proud goose and trespassing in his land. A couple apprentices had gone over to the border but did not trespass, and she still felt inclined to 'escort them back home' because RiverClan couldn't keep their kits in line. (Funnily enough, ShadowClan has had more trespassing issues than RiverClan. Repeatedly, they've been caught over the border and have caused fights or harassed RC cats in their own home. Stinkers!)
Grapples with the other wildlife is common enough with fights with dogs, coyotes, hawks and other predators occasionally rearing up but beyond injuries and upsets it doesn't really have as much impact (in my opinion) (but probably deserves its own post). For some reason WC usually seems gets the worst of it.
Thunderclan has a history of leadership issues and wildfires with a basically annual 'run from the burning territory' thing and an ex leader Flintspirit living as a rogue in the area.
The semi-current events:
With bad blood the norm RC raided SC because the then SC deputy Crowtail stole prey. Lionstar used this as an excuse and raided their camp but lost the RC deputy Frostfall/Frostflight. Then after a raid from SC against TC for (reasons unknown/info needed) in which SC broke into the TC camp and trounced them well enough to count it as a victory for them. The second RC vs SC raid was pre-emptive, because Lionstar was worried Icestar would use her victory over ThunderClan as a booster to rally her Clan into attacking RiverClan. With his Clan's approval, they launched the raid and squeaked a victory.
A wildfire broke out in TC territory and collapsed the camp, and many lives were lost, even the leader Duskstar lost a life due to smoke inhalation and a burnt face (ow). The clan fled to RC who has the biggest territory (having claimed skyclans land when the clan fell a long long time ago) and asked Lionstar to shelter there from the blaze. Lionstar who's a bro and a good bloke (until pushed too far then he'll make sure your skull joins his collection in his den) obliged as the TC deputy (Softbriar) had just gone missing and Duskstar was in too bad shape to rally the clan enough. They stayed for awhile (missing a gathering) some WC representatives visiting to help a bit too. However eventually long after the smoke cleared Lionstar grew frustrated at being taken advantage of; RiverClan previously sheltered ShadowClan under Fallenstar's leadership and sucked up their camp resources. Lionstar didn't want a repeat of this , and so told them to get out and go home, even if the clan was still in disorder. They did so, finding a new site for a camp and rebuilding. Duskstar, disheartened decided to resign from the position and leave the clan grabbing Buckbranch to take her place very soon after announcing him deputy.
Thats right if you though Dawnstripes warrior to leader run was quick theres a precedent Buckstars was too (even if on less bloody terms).
In the meantime tensions between SC and WC rose due to conflicts on the border and Icestars cold blunt attitude. This was made worse by as when Twilightstar was younger WC suffered a famine and rather than helping SC stole valuable warriors (who a long time later went crazy). The WC deputy stepped down and the clan restructured as the former medicine cat became deputy, replaced by two warriors, and the clans attitude hardened. Icestar, worried for SC with the fact that no other clan was allied with them, got even more vicious and defensive which started passively worrying her clan (so the whispers of rebellion started). In the following gathering the tension boiled over with Lionstar announcing that no other clan would ever be allowed to shelter on RC territory (bar maybe WC) until their generosity was actually reciprocated in some way. TC was quiet bar the normal 'hey Im the new leader' stuff (still no deputy) and SC was relaxed enough at first until the ultimatums started. WC demanded an apology and changes to the bloodthirsty clan 'lest there be consequences' to which Icestar responded with the expected 'screw you' reply and the gathering ended early.
WC assured of the correct path left first to initiate their plan, attacking a shocked SC on the way back from the gathering. A large main force lead by Twilightstar blindsided Icestar while a trusted skilled band led by Coyotesnarl entered SC territory to tear down the camp. The queens and kits were driven away (but not directly harmed) and some of them made it to the waterbarn (an old barn that served as the backup camp) as the main force utterly trounced the SC fighters. However tragedy struck as a ruthless Lionstar stole fire from a campfire and lit the barn on fire with the queens and kits inside sneaking away with no-one but starclan the wiser. He wasnt aware of the cats inside but was aware of the raid so make your own choices on the morality of that action. Several queens and kits perished while others escaped, Icestar having sounded the retreat, leading the shredded and pursued clan out of their own territory only to succumb to her own wounds and loose a life. SC got handed a bit of good luck when Flintspirit found them and lead them to a safe area for them to lick their wounds and recover, waiting for Icestar to wake again. After the clan finally managed to get themselves together they were rocked by the concerning announcement that the new medicine cat apprentice (the old one just recently having gone missing) was Icestars own kin and ex apprentice, Ebonyfang who had been (for the most part) content as a warrior. This set a dangerous precedent for the high ranks Icestar elects being made up of her kin rather than those best suited for the task. This decision may have turned out well enough (Ebonyfang is not a bad cat) but the discontented cats started putting plans into motion to 'deal with the issue' anyway only to be interrupted before they could do anything decisive. Retaking SC was calm for the most part with the patrols to the borders staying and the only WC presence being Twilightstar and Coyotesnarl waiting in the old camp to remind Icestar why this happened and to give her a warning.
A gathering occurred at around the same time (no SC) and was about the calmest and most friendly gathering Ive seen with the only big news bar the SC stuff being the new TC deputy Glidingfeather.
Meanwhile in SC Icestar called a clan meeting, de-ranking her deputy (Beastspark) for favour of another of her kin Dawnstripe only for Hailstorm (her own other daughter) to snap and kill her out of fear. Icestar may have been losing lives fast due to some of the rebels but still had some left so it was a shock when due to starclans disapproval she died for good and ended up stuck in purgatory between starclan and the darkforest. Hailstorm fled, escaping, as some of the rebels (acting due to fear of Dawnstripes lack of sanity and how that'd effect the clan as leader) attacked Dawnstripe. Some were maimed and some were driven off but eventually with a show of power from Dawnstripe the clan settled, moving on to find and build a new camp. Flintspirit is remaining with SC for now but his future is uncertain. The construction finished SC has relaxed for the most part getting back into normal movements once more.
Current/future:
SC needs a deputy and with no immediately obvious Dawnstripe is looking around at the warriors considering the options. SC is quiet but agitated.
Dawnstripe is currently getting her lives from starclan (or other places...)
TC is looking for a med cat (and maybe med cat apprentice)
Its not confirmed but given how BILL (Lionstars rper) runs things RC is probably due for a training thing or small event. (confirmed at the gathering, interclan spar w/ WC)
SC is on bad terms with everyone (worst to best WC<RC<TC)
RC are generally chill bar rare terrifying violence from Lionstar (SC bad, TC good, WC great)
TC is just busy with themselves atm (SC still meh in the bad way, RC/WC decent)
WC is trucking along happy with their lot rn (RC great, TC good, shifty eyes across the border at SC)
