As usual this had meant to be a simple and quick patrol - a small refresher of the border for her, all the while ensuring WindClan's safety. And of course, quite to her surprise, Bravebird had been willing enough to accompany them so they may heed the WindClan leader's orders... Orders she admittedly hadn't thought of before, but it mattered little now that they were not breaking any rules. Her leg mostly healed though still stiff, she did her best to keep up with the patrol to the border. Until... Well, this wasn't as simple a patrol as it seemed.
She slowed down and sniffed the air, nose scrunching. Hawkfur seemed to have caught it too... Something off, something not normal, something dead and ThunderClan. She didn't bother hiding the hint of apprehension as she trailed behind the warrior, following the scent that hung in the air until the scene of the crime: a clear blood trail, belonging to a piece of prey, leading into WindClan territory... Judging by the scent, belonging to some foolish ThunderClanner wanting to challenge the borders. She held back a sneer.
To make matters worse, it seemed Hawkfur had yet to realise everyone was the same age here. Silverpaw most definitely noticed him addressing Bravebird and Bravebird only (at least, in her mind), which would've earned him a roll of her eyes had the situation not been this concerning. Rather than acting like a petty child, she decided to ignore the seeming preference, stepping forth and spoke up. ...All things considered she had to applaud Hawkfur for being able to recognise this was a rat - she certainly wouldn't have been able to guess from appearance only. "This is strange, to be sure. It could be some ThunderClanner trying to challenge us, or something else... A trick, perhaps. Either way, we ought to report this to Twilightstar as soon as we return."
She paused only to take a look around and sniff the air. "Perhaps there's something here that may indicate the intention behind this."

The red tom lead the patrol out into the moors, approaching the Thunderclan border marked by the edge of the forest. The smell of moss and squirrels buffeted his nose, and he twitched it in response. It smelled so stuffy in there, he couldn't imagine not smelling the wind all the time. "Let's make this quick, yeah?" He said to the others, tail flicking idly behind him. "Oh, and try not to get in any fights. I don't want to drag another body to the Starry Meadow." But there was no heat behind his words, only grim amusement.

Following Hawkfur, Vixenstare grumbled with annoyance something-Drizzle didn't show up for the patrol. "Can't even show up to a patrol." The molly said, then listened to Hawkfur speak, nodding at his words. "I won't, promise." Vixenstare joked along, unsheathing her claws to add to it. She sniffed the air for any intruders.

Vixenstare snickered too, trotting behind Hawkfur. She let her scent drift along the border to make sure no one would pass without scenting the molly and the tom. Vixenstare's tail flicked to and fro, just waiting for someone to try and cross the border so she could claw them.

The patrol went by without any notable interactions from the other side of the border. It seemed as though the Thunderclan side of the border hadn't been renewed yet, and was approaching staleness. He wondered if he might catch a patrol sent out while on this one.
"I've never been over in Thunderclan territory before," he said idly to Vixenstare. "Can't imagine living under all those trees."
[Have you been in a border patrol before? I'm not entirely sure if we should do something in particular other than mark the territory again]
The brown and orange molly kept her path moving forward as she kept her eyes on the Thunderclan border, her ears flicking. 'Why is it so...Stale?' Vixenstare asked herself, her gaze turning back to Hawkfur as he spoke. "I don't ever want to go there. All those trees and stuffy air. Bleh." She answered, sticking out her tongue in joking disgust.

Hawkfur chuckled at her words, and the two walked in companionable silence as they marked the borders. He was surprised at the lack of Thunderclan presence on the other side of the border. He could barely scent their markers. Something akin to concern flared in his chest, but he quickly shoved it down. Thunderclan had reported no serious issues that would impact patrols during the last Gathering, and seemed healthy enough. Surely nothing could have happened to the forest-dwellers in the time between then and now, right? He realized he was getting worried over nothing, and pushed the thoughts away. Honestly, when did he become such a worrywart over other clans?
[Ohhhh okay okay, yeah it seems like it's been mostly Windclanners here for a while]
Vixenstare smiled at Hawkfur's chuckle as she followed him. He was a nice warrior with good humor. Turning her gaze back to where the Thunderclan border should be, she frowned at the lack of scent. "I bet they're so busy being in everyone's business and acting superior that they can't even patrol their own borders." Vixenstare said, sniffing the air once more to see if anyone was near.

Hawkfur rolled his eyes at the notion. They had reached the final marker, and still no sign of ThunderClan. "I wouldn't be surprised," he sniffed. "I try not to judge cats, but border maintenance is something that cannot be looked over."
