Character of the Month (August 2022)

Welcome to Character of the Month, a feature designed to recognize two characters who deserve kudos!

Using the form found at the bottom of this post, you may nominate two Main Roleplay characters you think deserved to be featured! Please use one form per character - they should not be in the same form.

For the sake of giving every character a chance, avoid nominating cats who have already been nominated for the month.

Nominations will be held for approximately 1 week, ending on the 22nd. Once it ends, a poll will be posted displaying the names of the characters who qualify for voting.

Users can vote for as many characters as they want to be recognize, provided it is not their own character. It is discouraged to vote for every character listed, as only two will win.

If two characters have the most votes, but they are roleplayed by the same person, the winner will be picked by staff based on the nomination reasons, and the second winner will default to the next highest vote.

The voting period will end on the last day of the month, and the results will be posted on the 1st of the new month.

Before you nominate, please keep these in mind.

• Characters should have been roleplayed within the last two weeks of being nominated to avoid inactive characters being featured.
  
  
• You may not nominate your own characters, or advertise your characters to gain nominations.
  
  
• Characters used to violate a roleplay rule cannot be voted for the month they broke the guideline. They will be omitted from the final polling.
  
  
• Nominations must include an explanation of why the character deserves recognition. Posts that do not provide a reasoning will be removed. Additionally, be thorough in your evaluation of the character. Vague or thoughtless statements (e.g. "they're cool") will result in your nomination being discarded. We want to know why you think this cat deserves attention!
  
  
• You may nominate two characters, but avoid nominating characters who have already been nominated.

Why?: Oh, yes! Peach is a fantastic character and Rockfall roleplays her excellent. Why doesn't she have the award yet?

Why should this character be featured?: Despite his anxious tendencies and at times crippling self-doubt, Beansprout remains a solid and steadfast figure in the lives of those who need him the most. He is kind, caring, selfless, and deserves all of the happiness in the entire world. He is such a well developed character and reading about his posts in everything from a happy training thread to an angsty funeral scene, I will forever cherish his story and arc.

Why should this character be featured?: Watching Brightpath develop from a little kit who was more so on the quiet side to a brilliant young warrior who speaks up and stands out has been nothing short of awe-inspiring. They are truly a loyal warrior who cares deeply for their Clanmates and home. I really admire how zen showcases their depth in the various roleplays Brightpath has taken part in and cannot wait to see where they go with them next!

Why should this character be featured?: Lot's of reasons, he's helpful to his clan, for example. Helpful enough to be a shield. Also, I love his relationship with characters like Mistypaw and Snowleap so much! He's just such a talented cat, and poppy roleplays him so well.

Why should this character be featured?: I love him, I just love him. Reading Taker's posts with him is awesome, and I am always excited when a new post with him comes out, he's been through so much as well. And I am excited to see where Taker goes with him.

Why should this character be featured?: Nyan may feel like they're in a rut with roleplaying Ivysnake, but it sure doesn't seem that way! Every post makes Ivysnake seem so real. She's come a long way from the Dawnstar-obsessed apprentice to a more mature (though still Dawnstar-obsessed) medicine cat apprentice working hard to keep ShadowClan healthy.

Why should this character be featured?: Rookscreech has gone from a cold ShadowClan apprentice to a WindClan warrior learning to care about her Clanmates. She may not know everything, but it took courage to leave ShadowClan behind to go after her best friend and join WindClan. Shade has roleplayed Rookscreech's development phenomenally and they're always a joy to read!

Why should this character be featured?: Where to start with this adorable little brat? Lumina manages to make an unfocused, goofy outsider into one of the most endearing cats in Thunderclan. Add on their struggles with fitting in while also keeping up their relationship with Ravenpaw? If you ever need a laugh read their hunting sessions. It's simply... *chefs kiss*

Why should this character be featured?: Oh Hazelkit is just amazing. She’s spritly, adventurous and amusing just as any awesome kit should be. Hazelkit’s roleplays are interesting detailed, showing both how she acts on the outside and what intriguing things she’s feeling on the inside. You never know what she might do next and she’s protective and loving to her friends and family. Overall, Hazelkit is just a great character and deserves the character of the month very much

Why should this character be featured?: Wintermist is an absolutely amazing roleplayer and portrays her characters such as Hopekit so well. Hopekit is a sassy little bully in ShadowClan that is very well thought out and is just great to roleplay with!

Character Faction [indicate if outsider]: ShadowClan
Why should this character be featured?: Centipedepaw is such a wonderful character. He's fun, unique, and extremely well-written. Xath does a great job writing out beautiful posts for him and his brother, Hornetpaw, and the way he interprets the world is just so interesting. I also love his dynamic with his mentor, Ivysnake. The two of them have such a great relationship, and I'm excited to expand more on that!

Why should this character be featured?: Deadmoon has been around for a long time. She had to deal with an abusive mother who didn't love her and two siblings who treated her horribly. Deadmoon has gone through so much in her life, but she was able to push through all that and become a warrior. She's had so much character development, and gs29513 roleplays her so well. Her dynamic with Rookscreech is interesting, and I'm glad that she's now on better terms with one of her siblings, Wolffang!

Why should this character be featured?: Flickerpaw is one of the most beautifully written cats on wco imo. Every post that Xath writes with her is perfection, and the description and Flicker's thought processes are just so so thorough and well described. I love how she's so unconsciously selfless, and how her posts make her even more mysterious. I love characters that tell you through thoughts and memories and nightmares/dreams, what they went through when they were younger and why they do what they do now. And her posts are so. Good. it's just absolutely some of the best writing I've seen and I can't say this enough ;; Flickerpaw deserves win Character of the year, but this is the best I can do.
