Tone indicator meanings!
have you ever seen someone say '[INS THING HERE] /J'? Well, that's a tone indicator, however. . .it's hard to know what they actually mean, as some people don't say what they mean or if it's in a list, it's usually wrong, so I'm here to state some basic ones ,and people will likely give me input and help me with the list, you all on the forums are also free to do so!
[these are only ones that apply to WCO/Are WCO friendly, by the way!]
/J = /Joke
/JK = /Just Kidding
/NM = /Not Mad
/LH = /Lighthearted
/GEN = /Genuine
/SRS = /Serious
/POS = /Positive
/NEG = /Negative
/S = /Sarcasm [NOT /SERIOUS, that is a common misconception!]
/SAR = /Sarcasm [A bit more obvious than the former, both can be used though!]
/HJ = /Halfjoke
LESS USED SECTION!
/LHJ = /Lighthearted joke [?] [I'm 90% sure this is accurate, and it is how I use it, but I could be wrong!]
/RH = /Rhetorical Question
/HYP = /Hyperbole
Edit: so, what are tone indicators used for? Well, they are typically used by or for neurodivergent people who have issues with understanding tone and/or getting it across, neurotypical can and absolutely should use them as well, as it can help plenty of people understand the tone you're trying to go for! [This isn't for say, roleplay, where tone can be a bit more hidden for a reason, it's more so for daily interaction!]

Re: Tone indicator meanings!
/Sar can also mean sarcastic, while /Srs can mean serious! Clears it up a bit, instead of using just /S ^^

Re: Tone indicator meanings!
@WinterMara
I've never seen /lhj used before but /lh is used frequently, usually when giving criticism or correcting someone, as well as after deprecating jokes.
Here's a few more:
/p (platonic)
/rh (rhetorical question)
/hyp (Hyperbole)

Re: Tone indicator meanings!
ooh, those are good ones, I didn't include /p on purpose since it doesn't apply to WCO much, since most interactions here are platonic [and if they aren't, it's usually by people who are in a relationship]
However, /rh and /hyp are ones I'll include, although I think I'll include them in a 'less used' section, since I see them very rarely! | @Erebus

Re: Tone indicator meanings!
I have no idea what this is used for, even after reading what tone indicators are used for. My poor brain can't comprehend

Re: Tone indicator meanings!
Basically, some Neurodivergent people [So people with ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, and other learning disorders like those] use/ask others to use them to understand tone better, as some have trouble using toning, Neurotypical people are also free to use them to not only help themselves but others as well.
As an example, I typically use /NM or /LH in conversations since in text [and voice but. . .I can't use a tone indicator there lol] I have trouble getting people to understand that I'm not using attitude in a lot of instances, and am 9/10 not mad, while I myself don't ask others to use tone indicators on me, it is helpful since I have trouble telling when people are joking, or are mad at me.
| @ ~Fierce~ [I hope that made a least a little more sense, it's hard for me to do a simpler version of it]
