Settingpaw heard pawsteps behind her, and unfamiliar scent making its way to her nose. She twitched an ear gently as she slowly turned her head to look over her shoulder, curiosity keeping her from staying still. What her eyes took in was a gray tomcat, a lot older than her and most certainly had had plenty of moons living. But what really caught her attention was his bright blue eyes, almost the exact shade of blue as her own. She wasn’t sure if she should suspect instantly that this was her father, Whisperblaze. Blinking slowly, she hardly heard the question he asked, her mind was reeling and working full power, trying to find some way to prove to herself that this tomcat was her father. She wasn’t even sure if she wanted him to be or not. She didn’t even know him. Yet her mind was already trying to find a reason for why he hadn’t approached her earlier. Why she’s hadn’t found him as soon as she reached Riverclan. She had so many questions she wanted to ask, so many accusations that she wanted to spit out.
But all that came were five simple words.
A response and a question of her own.

“Yes. And are you Whisperblaze?

"I am." he answered quietly. this had to be the same settingpaw that tumbledrop had gone on and on about, wasnt it? she fit all of her descriptions perfectly. she even had his blue eyes. that warmed him. he so badly wanted to run forward and hold her close, confess to her that he thought she was dead. he wanted to ask her questions on how long she had been here, how long had she been searching, and so on. he wanted to tell her everything thats happened in his life and more. but he stayed silent. for all he knew settingpaw could simply reject him as a father, and push him away once finding out that he was her father. did she..blame him for anything? had he done anything wrong? he didnt know she was alive..he wanted to hear everything about what happened. did this mean rising and peak were alive, too?

Settingpaw wanted to continue to argue on the subject, but she felt that at that moment, it might just be best to let him believe that she thought he was “a little confident.” Settingpaw truly knew that his arrogance stretched beyond that though. Even in the first few moments of meeting him, she could tell. “Alright, minuscule amount above the average amount confidence, got it.” She purposely used larger words, extending her sentence to something that ‘sounded’ more sophisticated, though it really was her just poking more fun at him. She often did this a lot, extended her sentences to more than what they needed to be, just because she felt like it. And also because there were those few cats she knew she could confuse with large words and complex ways of speaking. She wasn’t sure quite yet if this tom was one of those cats.

Settingpaw kept silent as the tuxedo tomcat cocked his head, seemingly studying her. She watched back with intense blue eyes, opening her mouth to say something right as questions started to pour out of his muzzle. Settingpaw blinked, taking a moment to take in these questions. She then narrowed her eyes slightly, though a smile played on her face. “I’ll add in nosy along with sassy. Just my list of words to describe you.” She meowed, shrugging her shoulders. She didn’t really want to answer those questions, her family background had always been difficult. And she wasn’t sure if she wanted to give out the information that she was half-clan to this particular tomcat. She wasn’t sure yet if she could trust him.
“Well, my father is a Riverclan warrior, and the rest of my family are all... gone. No one really knows what happened to them.” Not completely a lie. More like just bending around the truth. She knew what happened to to her mother and one of her brothers, but she didn’t want to talk about it. Not to anyone.

Pleasantpaw genuinely believed that he was only a little more confident than the average cat. If someone were to tell him otherwise about his confidence levels, he would laugh. Cats had told him before that he was arrogant. That he was self-centered. Even that he was unpleasant! Of course he wasn't! He even had pleasant in his name. How could he possibly be unpleasant? The Tuxedo tom truly didn't understand how these cats managed to see that in him. All that he could see was a truly fabulous cat who was humble and great to be around. Why on earth would they describe him otherwise?
"Exactly," he declared, puffing his chest out proudly. Finally she had gotten the message! He took no notice of her use of big words, and did not seem to notice that she was mocking him either, even though he typically noticed this kind of stuff. Perhaps it was because his greatness was filling up too much of his mind so he was struggling to think about anything else.

Pleasantpaw noticed the she-cat daring to stare back at him as he examined her. She was weird this new apprentice. Usually he didn't meet such....challenging cats. Most cats just grumbled in agreement to what he had to say about himself and moved away. This she-cat seemed to want to challenge him. Picking fights eh? Pleasantpaw thought with amusement. Maybe I'll keep her around, I could do with some entertainment, he thought.
"Excuse me?" he said in disbelief, eyes widening in shock. He wasn't nosy! He was sassy either! Ugh, now he was starting to change his mind. Perhaps he didn't really want this she-cat to stick around after all. His yellow gaze then went to look at the smile on her maw. "Ah, I see. You're joking. That makes a lot more sense," he said, a grin widening on his face. He was genuinely thought that she was joking. The thought never crossed his mind that she wasn't. Why wouldn't she be joking? Either she was a joker or she was a liar. Pleasantpaw was sure she would prefer to be a joker.
"Oh..." he said. Although he held little respect for anything, the tom had some respect when it came to death. His mother was dead. So was his father. Death had tried many times to take him, but had failed many times too and he respected its efforts. Here he was respecting the cats who had tried to take on death but had failed. "I'm sorry about your family. I've lost part of my family too. My parents are dead." His voice was sympathetic. This was about the only sympathy he had.

Honeykit jumped-skipped into the clearing, pouncing on the ground in random spots, jumping high into the air in others, until she finally came to a halt at Cactus's paws. "Hi Cactuskit!" She purred a greeting.
