"Why not?" Strike said, walking to the alley. It would provide shelter and possibly food and water, if they could find one of the big den-like things that were the color of a pine tree and where the Twolegs tossed random things. It wasn't as good as the forest, but there would also be mice to hunt. When he entered the dark space, he sent out a silent wish that there were no rats. He had bad luck when it came to rats. Finding a comfortable spot to lie down, he asked the she-cat, "What's your name?" @Peril

Jill. Hmm. A very kittypet-ish name. Strike hesitated half a second before answering. "Strike," he replied, laying his head on his paws. He remembered the last time he ran into a kittypet in their garden. That feeling he had... would he ever feel it again? @Peril

The she-cat shivered, she was cold. She wouldn't admit it though, she didn't want to seem weak. She was glad Strike had helped her, and she didn't wat to be a burden.

Every single sound to Strike morphed into a rat. A mouse scurrying turned into a rat sprinting for him. Every squeal of the round black things on the shiny creatures that Twolegs went into was the screech of a rat. Even the breathing of Jill was the hot, smelly breath of - you guessed it - a rat. He scented the air, making sure all of that was his imagination. He immediately regretted it when the stench of Twolegplace filled his lungs and made him cough. He took a deep breath. He needed to get a hold of himself. He was stronger now. He could easily beat a rat. But what if there was- nope, he told himself, shutting down the thought. His weak days of kithood were far behind him. That tear in his ear and the scar across his nose were signs that he was a fighter! And so was the fact that he was still alive. @Peril

The cat was no expert at being a loner, but she knew how to read a cat's emotion from their scent. "A-are you a-all right-t?" she chattered through her teeth.

The she-cat burrowed into Strike's warm fur, "Yes, sorry I can't handle a little cold." she rested her head on her paws and went into a light doze.
