An Echo in a Shadowed Forest

Echo loved taking walks-- but only when she was surrounded by nature. It made her feel alive-- ready for adventure. Her big yellow eyes took in everything, from the tiniest flower to the tallest cliff. Her footfalls were oddly quiet, given the size of her paws.

Shadow would sit in a tree, she had climbed up there a bit ago.
She didn’t necessarily have a reason, she just liked sitting in trees.
It made her feel powerful.
The boss monster would spot a wolf walking below her, catching her interest.
She’d let out a mischievous bleat and shout hello.
“Hello down therrreeeeee!”
The smol goat would grin.

Echo let out a little squeak of surprise and glanced up, pupils dilating in the shade. She tilted her head curiously to one side.

Shadow would blink, leaning down from the tree she scaled.

“Hi.”

She’d say again, wondering if she scared them.

"Hi." Echo somewhat mimicked. Her vocabulary was limited, but she wasn't completely incapable of speech. She gave the goatlike being a wave, smiling. She hadn't seen a creature like this in the woods before!

Shadow would look at Echo, was it just her, or did they say hi in the exact same tone.
She’d brush it off, there could be any reason.
“My name’s Shadow, what’s yours?”
