Mosspaw let out a relieved sigh, happy the warrior had finally noticed. "I got it from a little stream a little ways back!" Her voice squeaked on the last word, suddenly fearing her mentor would be upset. "I-I got it for you!" She set it on the ground and pushed it over to Leafbreeze. "It's like a thank you gift for getting my flower back! Especially since I made you go through all that trouble." She smiled nervously at Leafbreeze, preparing herself for the worst.

Leafbreeze eyed Mosspaw with suspicion initially, but eventually, she stepped forward and accepted the gift. "I'm sorry Mosspaw, I don't know how I could ever be mad at you. I made such a big deal out of nothing..." Dipping her head, she walked over to the young molly and laid next to her, dropping the fish at her paws. "Would you be fine if we share this meal before we continue on?"

Mosspaw brightened, giving Leafbreeze's shoulder a quick lick. "Yes please!" She swiped her tongue around her jaws, breathing in the enticing aroma. "Oh and I'm sorry I made you upset! I'll try to listen and pay attention more..." She smiled sheepishly at the molly.

"Please don't feel the need to apologise. I never wanted you to feel like you had to grow up so fast..." with her words, Leafbreeze went to comfort Mosspaw as if she was her own kit. She spoke softly as she embraced the apprentice. "I'm the one who should be saying sorry..."

Mosspaw smiled enthusiastically, leaning into her mentor's embrace. "You're such a good mother... Wait, no- I meant mentor!" She giggled at the silly mistake before grinning slyly, "Although I wouldn't mind if you were my mom..." Mosspaw's eyes were twinkling, partially in humor and partially in hope.

Leafbreeze had an awkward expression plastered on her face, taken aback by Mosspaw's shift in tone. "Well... I'm still quite young myself, I don't really know what it means to be a good mother." no matter what logic she could apply to the situation, she still knew that she wanted to say yes. And after seeing the desperation in the young molly's eyes, she knew what her choice had to be. "However, you're the cat that means the most to me. I'll gladly be your new mother if you want."

"Yes! Now I have a mom!" The apprentice wriggled around happily, her eyes squeezed shut. She paused, "Well, an alive one." then continued squirming as if it didn't make a difference to her. Suddenly, she gasped and her sly grin returned. "So... Am I going to have a father too?" The question was meant as a joke, but there was a hint of seriousness in her voice too.

Leafbreeze laid down next to Mosspaw and smiled. "We'll see. You might get a father, or maybe another mother." her reply was serious, but she played it as a joke. She started eating her part of the fish afterwards, curling her tail around Mosspaw as she did so.

Mosspaw's eyes glittered, "Another mother! And I bet she would be just as amazing as you!" She smiled, leaning into her new mom. She took a couple of bites from her part of the fish, letting out a satisfied mmmm... when she finished.

Leafbreeze gave Mosspaw a nudge with her nose once she finished eating. "Are you ready to move on?" she mewed softly. She waited patiently for her... apprentice? kit? she wasn't sure what to call her now. Regardless, she smiled at the young molly, thinking about how she was happy to just spend time together.
