Houndkit had been buried beneath a pile of snow when the voice of Mama rang out; a familiar nickname that beckoned his attention. He popped up with glee, shaking his fur free from the snow (for the most part) before running full speed towards her. Expect when he went to stop he skidded in the snow and instead lost his balance — faceplanting into the coldness. Then he was up again! "Hai Mama, hai sibs! " He squeaked, his neck jerking to cock towards the side. Golden irises flickered about to stare curiously at the food she offered. Looong meat. Next to it was almost clear-like scales in a similar form. Not meat. Looks crunchy.

Houndkit waddled closer, sniffing the flayed skin. The texture looked interesting. So, he settled down in the skin and wrapped his tiny jaws around it and CHOMP! It was a bit tough to bite but after enough tugging he was able to tear it from the rest. It was bumpy and didn't.. well, it just didn't have a taste. His nose crinkled up, swallowing it but admittedly the texture was less fun going down his throat. He stuck his tongue out, shaking his head. Instead, the kit focused on trying to tear it into pieces. That was fun.

A couple of his siblings had already gathered, beginning to ask questions. Mostly about the food. Houndkit listened curiously, his short tail wagging back and forth in a casual movement. Hhmm. Hmmmm. He didn't wanna overwhelm her with questions but. See, the thing was in his freetime the chocolate brown kit had been visiting the nursery. Not to socialize, nono, never. Only to watch what kits his age .. did. And he very quickly noticed something rather interesting. There were Queens who were usually Mamas but also sometimes there would be 'Dads' that visited the Mamas and the kits. The kits shared similar features, some more than others. They were all ... cozy together. Like how he was in Home with his siblings and Mama.

The only other cat Houndkit really saw Mama be cozy with was Miss Mistle. She even trusted the one-eyed cat with his siblings! Like the other Mamas did with the Dads. He was okay if he had just one Mama -- some of the other kits seemed to just have that too .. or two Mamas.... it was confusing, actually. He was just curious.

So, once he was done causing damage to the snake skin he waddled over to the actual meat. He took a bite, swallowing it carefully before turning to look at Mama with wide, curious eyes. He always had a Look when he was about to ask a question; he always became incredibly still. "..Is Miss.sss...sss -" Houndkit scowled at the unintentional dragging, "Miss...st, t, tle .. our d-dad?" He piped up, his left eye twitching. A pause, "or anot-t-ther Mama..?" and then he took another bite. It would make sense. Miss Mistle had white. Some of his siblings had white. Mama had brown. All his siblings had brown. Miss Mistle had green eyes. Some of his siblings had green eyes! Clearly, there seemed to be a connection.
