The small black and white fluffy kit set their paw's in the camp clearing, their dull blue eyes darting around at the cats. Cowkit saw small kits, talking to a black and white apprentice and he angled a speckled ear towards their conversation. The kittens sounded excited as they talked to the apprentice about teaching them to hunt or to play. He didn't share his denmates excitement about playing, at least right now. What Cowkit did find interest in is training. If he learned how to do some now, he'd be the best warrior and he would know everything. Cowkit's puffy tail swiped dust from the ground and he kneaded the undergrowth nervously with his bicolored paws. The apprentice seemed to have their paws full already, they would just scorn them if they ask to join too. His deep ocean gaze swiped the clearing once more before resting on a tortoiseshell tabby apprentice. Perhaps they would like to teach them, if they could convince them.

The fluffball of black and white fur trotted over to the apprentice, their eyes wide with hope. "Hello.." he started, clearing his throat with a rumbling purr. "I'm Cowkit and, uhm, I was wondering if you could teach me something?" Cowkit asked, his voice getting higher with uncertainty. He had no way of knowing if the apprentice would show him any regard, let alone agree. Cowkit flashed them a nervous smile, hoping that will help his odds.

Cowkit's eyes sparkled with relief. The simple nod meant he would teach him something, and this wasn't a wasted trip. The kitten let his eyes show a smile but still tried to be as professional as he could, though tiny flicks of his tail would give away his excitement. "Thank you!" He meowed, admiration in his mew. He hadn't learned the apprentice's name, so it was only polite to ask. "What is your name?" Cowkit queried, his voice rising and falling in volume. "...and what can you teach me?"

The small kit didn't miss the fact that the cat didn't speak to him, perhaps they were mute or trying to save their breath because of the cold. He was grateful that his pelt was thick and that the light snowfall from the sky seemed to quickly dissolve in his black and white fur.

'Silentpaw.' The black and white kit repeated to himself. Cowkit couldn't help noticing how accurate the name seemed to fit them. Maybe they were like him and practiced what their going to do before they put a voice behind it. That would make Silentpaw much easier to talk to. Cowkit may come to the tortoiseshell cat more often if that's the case.

Cowkit twitched his whiskers in surprise. He hadn't thought that far ahead. He assumed that Silentpaw would take charge and decide. Cowkit tried to focus and figure out what exactly he wanted to learn. Hunting was an important skill, but fighting was too. Honestly, he was more interested in hunting because it was simpler, but he didn't want to look like a coward. "Can you show me how to fight?" he responded carefully.
