Re: ShadowClan Clearing

Quietmouth dropped his catch on the fresh-kill pile, pleased to be helping the clan. A faint mumble broke his thoughts as he glanced at either side of him. To one side, an apprentice stood with a mouse in her jaws. Her green eyes wide and full of admiration. Though he couldn't hear her, he could tell she was implying that his catch was impressive. Quietmouth nodded to the apprentice and purred as they carried their mouse to the Elders' den. I'm glad to be where I am he thought to himself, trying to hide the immense feeling of pride he felt.

He thought back to when he was an apprentice, shy, having no friends, expected to fail. He had to work harder than any of the others in order to gain even a small morsel of respect. And as a new warrior, he knew he would only have to work harder than ever to gain the respect of others.

Noticing that the Elders still looked hungry after eating the mouse, Quietmouth picked up the falcon and took it over to the Elders' den, settling next to the brown color pointed apprentice who was sitting just outside the den's entrance.

SpiderThorn gave MagpiePaw an amused look, ears flicking as her words tumbled out in that endearingly chaotic way of hers. He didn’t interrupt, just sat there with a lopsided grin, letting her work through the disaster she’d made of her own explanation. When she finally finished, he went ahead and gave an exaggerated sniff of the air. “Huh. You smell that? Smells like…someone trying way too hard to explain why they’ve been hoarding leaves for me…” he teased, his voice warm but with a playful edge.

Okay, okay, let’s back up a second…” he continued, flicking his tail toward the neat pile of green leaves she had somehow decided to bring him. “First of all, nice leaves. Seriously, top-notch selection. Second of all, where was this thoughtfulness when my pelt actually looked like I’d been collecting the entire forest? Eight moons, Mags. Eight moons of me walking around looking like some kind of moving shrub. And now that I finally clean up, you’ve got a gift ready for me?” Yes, SpiderThorn was finding out how easily teasable the apprentice (who was his only friend) was. It was kind of fun actually, as long as he didn’t mess up too bad.

Still, he couldn’t help but chuckle softly, his gaze lingering on the leaves for a moment before shifting back to her. “But hey, I’ll give you credit. You noticed, didn’t you? First cat all day to say something. Most of the others probably thought I’d lost a bet or something.” He ruffled his fur slightly (yes, making it ruffled yet again), the feathers scattered throughout shifting with the motion.

SpiderThorn bent down and nosed one of the leaves from the pile, flicking it into the air with his tail before letting it land in his pelt. There…he has a leaf now! And one from MagpiePaw, which kind of went with his feather theme when you think about it.

Whyyyy did he insist on teasing her?

Magpiepaw fluffed up like an angry puffin, her fur nearly doubling in size as she scowled. She didn't smell like anything! Nothing! Not shame, definitely not embarrassment! She was completely fine! "Hoarding is not the right word." Magpiepaw grumbled, merely hoping to find something to counter him with. It was cold and miserable, and now she was lukewarm and miserable! Flushed and miserable!? SAME THING!

Magpiepaw watched through narrowed eyes as Spiderthorn reassessed the situation, complimenting the leaves (not her, silly) and rightfully wondering why the heck she'd only done this now. Well, sorry that she was too sick to do so! Some say that it's better late than never, but it seemed they were LIARS, because it was truly better never (to avoid embarrassment) than ever (because you won't do it, ever).

"Eight moons, twelve moons, whatever! I was too busy trying to get my slug of a mentor to train me! Which, news flash, they. Never. Did. Too dang busy to worry about you and your messy messy pelt." She sneered, claws burning as the pricked at icy grass. But she didn't think about him.... Bleh, too much. She hated it when he smiled, hated it sooooo much. It felt weird, and she didn't like to feel weird.

Then, despite how leaves clashed with feathers, he added in her own pile of shame leaves rather casually, making his newly groomed pelt slightly unruly as he shook it. Magpiepaw growled. Alllll that embarrassment, and he was just gonna take it anyways? She couldn't tell what he was thinking (expressions were her worst enemy) but he was definitely smirking evily right now, chuckling in her stupidity, mocking her. How dare!

"I know it's not pretty, you don't have to add it to your pelt, good grief." She huffed, feeling oddly appreciated and resented. Oh my gosh, she hated how tiring her brain could be. Why not feel one thing? Why not be black and white like the world proved to be? Since when did another bright eyed cat have to come along, flip her world view upside down, and in addition, make her feel like frog guts?

Fish smiled then was batted on the head “ bah! she said, tucking her head back as she curled up her nose bridge slightly before returning it back to normal. She probably deserved that, but it was fine she might do it again to others. She thought with a grin as she watched mudslide move she followed behind her mentor.

Once mudslide sat down fishpaw knew she had to do something…’Still. Quiet, low’ her mentor's words said, still. No movement or very little movement, Quiet, that was easy enough to know, just no talking. Low, now that was a different thing to think of. It couldn't be sitting because you would be too easy to see, can't be laying down cause then you would have little time to react to anything… hmmm. Fishpaw thought for a moment thinking about what she's seen others do, crouching! That's what she needed to do, she needed to crouch!

Fishpaw dropped down keeping her body low to the ground maybe too low as he fixed herself onto her legs but she was lopsided threatening to fall on her side, she hoped it was good.

Fishpaw looked like a teetering rock, or like she had gotten her fur wet, but only on one side, so it was only effecting her half way. Regardless, she looked somewhat ridiculous. Too low to the ground, not very confident in her stance. Mudslide knew that confidence was a hard thing to gain, but not impossible.

She crouched down in front of Fishpaw, keeping her shoulders squared, ears and tail low, and eyes narrowed. She then wriggled her haunches before leaping clean over her apprentice. She flicked their shoulder with her tail. "Again." She rasped, repositioning herself in front of her, stagnant, like she never moved.

"Straight. Steady." The building blocks for a good an even stance. Focus was also a factor, but c'mon, this was Fishpaw we're talking about. Mudslide wouldn't be surprised if her brain ran one million thoughts per second.

greenapple, she/her, 46 moons
shadowclan warrior
a dappled ginger and black she-cat with bright green eyes.

Greenapple had just finished eating her blackbird, the feathers that got stuck in her fangs set aside in a neat little pile. It was past sunhigh, warmer than it had been recently, with the sun casting a glow onto the Shadowclan camp. A good day for a walk... but she would need a clanmate first.

Currently, Greenapple did not have an apprentice. Her most recent one, Blackberrybat, was a warrior now... she was glad that he earned his name, but it had been too long since she gave an apprentice a lesson. As a warrior, Greenapple felt like it was her responsibility to help train the youth of Shadowclan. Maybe she could find an apprentice to go out with? That way it would be a productive trip as well.

Soon enough, Greenapple spotted Sootpaw. He had recently returned after going missing, and though Sootpaw was not a warrior yet, he was old for an apprentice... if Greenapple remembered right. She assumed that Sootpaw had the knowledge for a cat his age, but perhaps had to get back into the flow of things before his ceremony. She would invite him for a hunting trip, Greenapple decided.

The tortoiseshell walked over to him, greeting the dark gray tom with a nod of her head. "Going hunting," she said, voice low and slightly rough from disuse. "Would you like to come?"

Well, the meeting came to a close and Scorp wanted to get on her training as soon as possible. So, with her claws dug into the ice for traction, Scorpionpaw would stamp her way to the nearest victim. Unfortunately, she didn't know this warrior and thus didn't know their name. She'd also skip formal greetings, something that she picked up from Mama and the mass amounts of cats that came and left her den. "Hey you!" She called out, approaching as gracefully as the ice would allow her.

"I wanna get my training started! Will you teach me something?! Anything! I dunno who my mentor Midnightsun is, but you're here," she tried to reason this thought process out, but it was still fairly kittish, which... what else do you expect from a newly made apprentice? Hopefully, this warrior wouldn't turn her away, she'd have to go tell her Mama about it if he did! Not that she'd do much about it, but Scorp wouldn't understand that.

Erminekit
~<>~
1/6
1 moon || he/him || shc kit
short haired blue sepia with low white; yellow eyes

It's cold. The nursery is warm, but Erminekit doesn't wanna be in there right now. Too many bodies too close together. Bleugh! He wants to see what's happening! He wants to be the bestest bestest ShadowClan warrior in like... forever and always!! He's gonna be so cool! He's gonna rival um... Dawwwwahn starrr! Daw-ahnstar!!

Small body wiggles itself free of the nursery, and bright golden eyes that still don't know how to work that well blink in the sudden light. It's not that much brighter, but Erminekit isn't used to that. He's used to the dark, used to being passed from nursing queen to nursing queen without a mother or a father to take care of him. He's like... a community pet. Or the one kid that everyone takes care of. It's kinda cool.

Not once has Erminekit ever thought to ask after his mother or father, he's barely old enough to have his own thoughts, let alone enough awareness to ask after his mom and dad.

He isn't paying attention to where he's going, focusing too much on keeping his movements steady and not wobbly on his large paws, and he bumps into some cat, face squashed as he dramatically springs back to fall on his rump.

"Ouff-" he exclaims as he lands on the slightly slushy, slightly muddy ground, "owie..." rubbing his nose, little grey kitten glances upward at the cat he'd bumped into, taking in their size and widening his eyes in awe. A real warrior!! "Big...." he observes, voice dripping in awe.
