The molly realized it was a lot to take in for the first day, and she knew he'd probably get confused. Maybe she should alter it, slow it down a bit? She'd ask later. She might be getting ahead of herself, of Batpaw. "Ok, now, remember how I showed you, and I'll guide you if you need help. Don't worry about being fast right now, we just need to get the move down correctly. Relax, focus your mind, and if you see anything, let yourself make a move." She then crouched, a lot more fluidly than her apprentice, but she realized that someday. Batpaw and her would spar and she probably wouldn't be able to keep up. Pride welled in her chest, she got to teach and mold how this young tom would learn and grow as a warrior. It made her excited and slightly fearful all at the same time. Her balance was impeccable as she approached, slowly moving her white paws against the dusty earth. don't hurt him, knock him over but land in the beginning with your paws off of him. Her inner thoughts guided her, and when she had gotten a few paces closer, she lunged, close to the earth below her, spinning quickly to use her hind paw and knock his out from under him, and twisting to land on top of him, front paws on either side of his head before she adjusted, pinning him as gently as she could while leaning most of her weight on her hind paws, still resting on the ground. She looked down at him, grinning widely as her different colored eyes sparkled with glee. She knew her manner of approaching him and flipping him was much different than the approach he had used, but she hoped he wouldn't focus too long on that, she would teach him that way soon enough, though probably not today. Three advanced moves in a day seemed a bit much, even for an apprentice as eager at Batpaw seemed to be. In all honesty, she shouldn't like fighting, but it was a passion of hers, and she was told to be seriously good at it. She knew she shouldn't, but she loved sparring, and teaching a talent was wonderful. After assuring she wasn't going to hurt him, and preparing her hind legs to assist him in pushing her off if he needed it, she nodded slightly, trying to get him to do as much as he could from the memory of watching her. |

Relax, focus your mind, and if you see anything, let yourself make a move. Her smooth voice echoed in his ears. Batpaw relaxed his muscles and steadied his breathing. Doing this allowed him to focus on each pawstep as his mentor approached, it was as if time was moving slower. His heart began to speed up again as she got closer making his focus break and suddenly his paws were being kicked out from under him. He was flung on his back with Whitewish pinning him from above. His green eyes were wide once again in awe and as he stared up into her different colored eyes, a dumbfounded expression on his face. W-Wow... He couldn't help hide a smile at her gleeful spirit. Suddenly he snapped out of it and realized he had been on his back for too long. Regaining his composure Batpaw remembered the move Whitewish had performed on him. Relaxing his shoulders and shifting the strength to his hips he readied his hind paws and shoved with the right amount of force that would send the she-cat backwards but not too far. Excitement pumped through his whole body, I think I'm getting it! Everything continued to move fast, including him. He flipped around onto his paws but as he was turning to face his opponent he lost footing and slid forward, his face bumping into the ground and his hind paws sliding to try to regain balance. Batpaw quickly stood up straight again, his fur hot with embarrassment. His tail drooped, "Sorry, I messed up." He said in a soft voice. If I had just stayed focused... |

Whitewish felt the familiar sensation of her paws falling forward, landing her in a very awkward position, belly exposed. She felt his paws dig into her soft stomach slightly, and push. The result was her being pushed back, away from the smaller tom. She twisted her legs slightly, landing a ways away and watching him try to follow her movements. When he fell, she just chuckled lightly, shaking her head with a small, quiet purr. "Don't worry about it. It was the first time you tried it. I'm impressed you didn't need my help to get me off, that's a good job." She walked closer, offering her paw to help him up. "We'll focus on the rolling over quickly part in a second, if you like. For now, let's work on that crouch of yours and get your balance on track." She watched him carefully, trying to sense any fatigue. She didn't want to overwork the poor apprentice, but she was very eager to teach, and had a lot of idea flashing through her head. Though she was often told she rushed ahead of everyone sometimes. She didn't want to hurt Batpaw, so she waited on his conformation before they continued. |

He blinked in gratitude at the help, still feeling embarrassed that he had fallen in such a stupid way. Batpaw listened to her speak and when he glanced at Whitewish he noticed her watching him carefully. He blinked, Maybe she thinks I want to stop. He stood straighter and a spark of determination shone in his gaze and he nodded. "Ok. I know I don't have the best balance, b-but I want to fix that." He was a bit tired from jumping around but he wasn't ready to stop. Not yet. Batpaw wanted to improve until his limbs were weighed down with exhaustion. |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave

The molly chuckled at the enthusiasm, nodding. "Don't worry about your balance. All new apprentices start out with that problem, it's my job to help you get better. Now, crouch like you're going to attack me, but don't move. I want to see how you've taught yourself from play-fighting. You didn't look half-bad earlier, and your instincts are good. You'll be a fine fighter one day." Her voice was warm, and she blinked softly, pacing closer on loose limbs, relaxed even in a place where sparring often happened. However, though she seemed to be at home around here, one could see the way her ears swiveled, keeping close attention to the cave's surroundings. She knew that they were alone, but one couldn't be too careful, especially with two of them here and only one with a bit of experience in fighting. If someone wanted to hurt Riverclan, attacking new apprentices was low, but a decent strategy. Not that she'd let anyone who hurt her apprentice live without a shredded pelt, though. She watched the tom with bright eyes, her gaze still friendly, but with a critical edge to it as she observed. |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave

He felt reassured by what she had said and that he wasn't the only one but he still was self-conscious about his clumsiness. It wasn't just today, his first day out of camp he had tripped on a pebble and fell into the river. Luckily it was a shallow part but his fur had still gotten drenched. To sum it up, he just wasn't confident in his paws. Following her instructions Batpaw got down into the crouch he was used to. His tail was straight up, his front paws far out in front of him and his hind quarters raised. From seeing Whitewish's crouch he knew his was different and he wondered if he looked like a kit trying to play. But he waited for her to correct him. |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave
Quote:
The warrior smiled fondly at the tom. His stance was cute, but it showed why he had so many problems with his coordination and staying on his paws. She took a few steps forward, approaching slowly, looking for what to correct first. Probably the fact that his rump was so high. "I'm going to push gently to direct you, just kind of follow the pressure." She instructed, taking a snowy paw and pushing on his hindquarters gently, trying to get them even with his shoulders. Then, she pushed his tail down, stopping when it was just above the ground, but not so close that stray fur would trail in the dust. She then pushed up on his chest a bit, trying to get him to raise up just enough so his belly fur wouldn't also trail. Finally, she pushed on each front paw, directing them until they were positioned just under his shoulders. This way, he looked a lot more coordinated and balanced. She smiled to herself, walking--which looked more like a prowl or a stalk--a bit away before turning on her toes to face him again. "How does that feel? More like you have a bit of control over your balance and strength?" |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave
Quote:
Batpaw moved as she directed, first lowering his rump, then raising his chest, lowering his tail, and finally tucking in his paws. Guess I had a lot wrong. He thought but he was surprised to find it feeling a lot more right. In this stance he felt like a predator about to pounce on his prey. Whitewish really knows what she's doing! He kept the stance while looking up at his mentor, "Y-Yeah, it actually feels a lot... Well, Better!" Batpaw chuckled, shifting his weight between each side while keeping balance. |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave
Quote:
Whitewish purred happily, before slipping into her own crouch, giving him a sly and mischievous smile. "The final thing I want to work on concerning your crouch and movements is pouncing easier, more in-control. This might wear you out, so please tell me afterwards if you're ready to be done, but it'll help in battle and hunting, so we should do it." She readied herself, her shoulders rolling slightly as she shifted her weight on her back legs, tail lashing slowly in concentration. "I want you to pounce at me, and land in control. We can do this until you get the hang of it, but the goal is to have you be able to control your movements precisely. I'm going to move out of the way, both effectively showing you what you should be doing movement-wise, and letting you try to work a strategy to catch me. We end when you catch me, you've got the hang of moving about, or you're too tired. Is that good?" She smiled again, her eyes shining with the challenge. She loved playing cat and mouse, and, while usually she was the cat, it was fun to be the tricky mouse once in a while. Besides, she was sure her apprentice was smart enough to catch her, after all, she still had many openings of her own, and he's shown to be smart enough to use them to his advantage before. She was going to enjoy this little game of theirs. |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave
Quote:
Batpaw nodded, excitement making his paws tingle. He hadn't pounced from this stance before so it would be a new experience, and one that he had to get used to fast. He narrowed his green eyes in concentration and focused not on Whitewish but where she was standing. He guessed his first leap wouldn't be fast enough to catch her so he decided to first keep his attention on balancing. Batpaw kept his weight even between his back and front paws and shoved himself off the ground. He landed heavily on his front paws and sure enough Whitewish had already moved. He had reached the spot with his jump but he knew it could've been more graceful and even faster. Batpaw swiveled to face his mentor again, feeling more confident on his paws, and got into the crouch she had taught him. This time he shifted the weight to his hind legs and pushed himself off the ground with his front paws outstretched towards the long furred she-cat. |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave
Quote:
Whitewish watched the tom take the first leap, nimbly leaping away and landing silently, swiveling quickly to face him again. He would be a tricky opponent , but she enjoyed a challenge. She watched him adjust his weight and nodded her approval, smiling as he hurtled himself at her again, much quicker this time. She grunted as her own back legs snapped into the dirt below her, narrowly missing her apprentice as she skidded opposite of him, turning again and crouching. It was impressive that he had nearly caught her on his second leap, but she still had a few tricks in her fur. |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave
Quote:
As Batpaw landed the second time he lightly swiveled on his paws, barely feeling unbalanced anymore. With adrenaline pumping through him he hardly felt tired but instead felt excitement pushing him on. Who knew training could be so fun! He continued chasing after Whitewish while only leaping, but even though he had improved his crouch and leap he still couldn't manage to catch her. Each time she would just barely be out of reach. By nearly the fifth jump he began feeling winded but Batpaw still lowered into a crouch and launched himself forward, a playful smile on his muzzle. |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave

The margin of the apprentice's improvement impressed the older molly a lot. He was a quick learner and very bright, and he was even teasing back. The young, reserved tom she had met at his ceremony scarcely showed in his expression now, and she let a purr rumble, not noticing the slightly sluggish movements of her own legs. She moved again, misjudging the power she had left and stumbling to her left, landing awkwardly on her paws and skidding a bit on her flank, wincing as pebbles and harsh sand clumps dug into her side. A breathless chuckle left her form, and she thanked Starclan for letting Fallenstar give her an apprentice, she was getting out of shape. "Looks like it's your win, Batpaw. Good job, I'm proud of you." Her voice rumbled with a purr as she flipped her head to the side to look at him with warm eyes, her smile calmer and more relaxed now as she pulled herself to her feet, wincing as small patches of red bloomed on her snowy fur from where the rocks had dug a little too deep and punctured her skin, giving her minor scratches. She licked her shoulder in embarrassment, heat flooding her ears and face at the thought of how ragged and unkept she must look to Batpaw, misplacing her paws in a mere training exercise. |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave

Batpaw landed near the white she-cat and since she was on the ground he felt no need to physically tag her, he knew he had won the game. The feeling of triumph made his tail wave happily in the air and pride welled in his chest. I did it! I actually beat- The victory had completely disappeared when he noticed the red on her snowy white pelt. "Y-You're bleeding!" Batpaw rushed forward to help his mentor. His green eyes widened in guilt, he had been so caught up in his winning that he didn't notice Whitewish had fallen. He hadn't really won fairly but he didn't care about that anymore. Batpaw knew how embarrassing it can be when a misplaced paw sends you tumbling down. "Sorry, I guess I got really excited... Maybe we should head back?" He actually did feel worn out from all the training but he was mostly worried about his mentor. He didn't know how deep the scratches were but they did puncture skin. Oh Starclan, what if it gets infected? Batpaw had a basic understanding that wounds could get infected, just from overhearing things, and that's all that was on his mind right now. |

The shecat pulled herself to her paws easily, patting his head with a forepaw when she had stood fully. Her chuckle was soft and forgiving, and she shook her head as he apologized. "Batpaw, it was my fault for tripping, nothing that you did caused me to fall, rather, it was my own foolishness and inattention. These aren't very bad, trust me. It just looks worse because I have such light fur. But once the blood is washed away you won't even notice them, they'll heal easily in a few days. Plus, training happens, accidents happen. Rather, I'm proud you got the hang of the things I showed you so quickly." She nodded again, laughing softly and flicking his shoulder lightly with the tip of her tail. "We should head back, yes. I don't want to fully exhaust you on your first day, and you'll definitely have things to show off when we go to camp. Keep that head up, I can proudly say that I might just have the smartest apprentice out of the batch." Her last few sentences were said with a purr, and she moved towards the exit, noticing the concern still on his face. She let out a soft sigh, happy that she had someone that concerned about her injuries and well being. She was touched, honestly, that he worried about her, and not his own fluffed pelt covered in sand and sweat from the session. A small giggle was swallowed as she turned her head again, smile twitching to grow bigger at his own appearance. "If it makes you feel better, I'll head straight to Heatherfur when we return to camp. Deal?" She asked softly, eyes still warm. "But in return, you have to go with me to the river to wash off. I'm fairly certain sand is clumped everywhere in both of our pelts." |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave
Quote:
Batpaw felt a bit embarrassed that he had worried so much. He showed a small smile at her compliments and licked his chest fur self consciously only now realizing how dirty his own pelt was. It was an eventful training session and he was glad that he had learned so much. He was also happy that he got to spend time with Whitewish. At first he was hesitant about her being his mentor but her playful nature and sparring style seemed like a good fit, and Batpaw could see that. He felt a rush of relief when she suggested going to check her small injuries with Heatherfur. He would most likely have been worrying about her for the whole day if she hadn't. His green eyes lit up, "Ok! I didn't realize how messy I looked until now." Batpaw purred. He seemed much more comfortable around his mentor. His words came out with more confidence and he stood tall. It was similar to how he acted with his siblings. Batpaw looked up at Whitewish ready to follow her to the river. |

"i think so too," wolfdancer smiled, swiping dawnpaws head to get the last of the dust off with her tongue. she could remember her training, how excited she had been to smell all the new things and places, the hunt prey and provide for her clan. she chuckled at the compliment,"well, i dont have the suffix dancer for nothing," she purred. she earned the suffix for her extreme skill in hunting and fighting, despite her size still seeming graceful on her paws. she was a gentle giant for sure, full of fluff and maternal instincts, but on the battle feild or hunting grounds she could be as fierce as any big cat. "come on, lets go to the territory and see if we can catch anything. after that, ill show you the borders and thatll be all for today." [go ahead and post in the territory!] |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave
Here I am again, Rainpaw thought. I probably haven't improved since last time. he sighed. But he decided to try his best anyways.
Rainpaw looked up at at his mentor, Nightwhisker, that crawled to the ground, redy to launch himself at Rainpaw, and then he looked at Silverpaw that was eagerly watching them. She begged to follow them, and wouldn't drop her happy gaze since they said yes. It reminded Rainpaw of Shadepaw. A throb of pain made Rainpaw hold back a whimper. He really missed Shadepaw, but he hadn't been able to see her for a few days. He was brought out of his thoughts when his mentor announced that he would attack Rainpaw, instead of the other way around like they had done before. "This time, try to see which moves I'm going to do before I do them. You have a talent for observing, I hope you'll put it to good use." Nightwhisker praised. Rainpaw pushed aside the blush that made his pelt grow warm, and nodded a thanks instead. "Then, I'll attack now." Nightwhisker declared, giving Rainpaw a moment of preparation. Rainpaw looked at the way Nightwhisker was hunched to the floor, steeling his muscles. He is going to jump at me. How should Rainpaw counter-act? He didn't know what other moves Nightwhisker would do as he fell on Rainpaw, so he decided it was best to dodge the whole thing. Just as Rainpaw had thought the thought, Nightwhisker flew at him, twisting himself in the air. Rainpaw was able to dodge rather swiftly. A bit of luck, I suppose. He thought, avoiding to crash into the wall beside him. Nightwhisker fell to the ground, and then took a few moments to get up. "You should attack me when I'm confused, or trapped to the ground. Those are the best openings." Nightwhisker told Rainpaw. Rainpaw nodded, taking in the instructions. Nightwhisker attacked again, but this time, he didn't leap at Rainpaw, instead he moved to Rainpaws right with a paw outstretched. If someone is trying to claw me, I should... he didn't have time to finish the thought, as Nightwhisker was barely a few whiskers away from Rainpaw, he brought down his paw again and instead tackled Rainpaw so that his paws fell beneath him. Of course! I should have known. It was the same move he had been taught the last time they were here. Rainpaw raised himself again, and Nightwhisker gave him a thoughtful look. "I think I know where the problem is." he said. Rainpaw waited for him to continue. "This isn't a real fight for you, you are thinking of it like training." Rainpaw was confused. "But, it is?" From behind him, Silverpaw eagerly chattered. "Well, yes! But you know, training is supposed to be like a real fight, except less dangerous. In a REAL fight, you are fighting to protect your clan, territory and the cats that you love..." She quickly declared with warmth in her voice, she broke of at the last part. "Pretend someone is attacking the cat you love, for example." she told him, rather quietly for being her. Rainpaw stared at her with realization. Of course... That is it. he thought. He stared at Silverpaw with happiness. She reminded him of Shadepaw yet again. What if someone tried to hurt Shadepaw? without thinking, he hissed at Nightwhisker and dove under him, making him fall to the ground. Then he jumped at him, pinning him to the ground, and raking his paws at his sides, pretending there were claws there. Rainpaw held his jaw next to Nightwhiskers neck, his teeth glittering. He stopped there, and jumped off as he realized what he was doing. "I'm so sorry! I were meant to just defend myself, even so I--" he was abrupted by Nightwhisker. "It's fine, it really is. Actually, this is a step in the right direction. How did you do it?" he asked. Rainpaw stuttered. "I just-just, um, well I thought about someone hurting S-" he broke off. He was about to say Shadepaw. If he did, he would be deemed traitor by his whole clan. He couldn't say Shadepaw. He said the first name on 'S' that came to mind. "I just thought of someone hurting Silverpaw, and it all happened." His words echoed in the cave, and silence crept over them for what seemed like hours, but was probably just seconds. Until Silverpaw gave a soft "Oh." A chill unwillingly crept up his back. Did they understand what he had meant? But no-one said anything about that. Instead, Silverpaw said "Oh." again. Was that hapiness in her voice? Why would she... Oh. Oh no. He just understood what he had said. Silverpaw had told him to think of someone he loved, and he had said that he thought of Silverpaw. He had indirectly said that he loved her. |

Dustfeather sat in the training caves entrance holding his head high as he awaited for his apprentice he smiled at the thought of having one. He knew his brother didn't have one yet . Nor did his brother have a love interest yet he always teased him about that . Pretty soon little stormy would be a elder and not be able to get a mate . He didn't have one yet either but he was Asexual and perfectly fine on his own . He remembered his days as an apprentice making him smile he looked over his shoulder into the cave memories flooded his mind . He saw ghost like version of his apprentice self practicing with his mentor who was a grey and white tom ,some scenes showed the two chasing each other while they vanished and were replaced with ones that showed him standing on top of his mentor acting like he was standing on a mountain . And some just showed him falling over when he didn't get a battle move right . The ghost like version of the two vanished once he flicked his ears and looked back in front and waited for cactuspaw . He was gonna make this young tom into a fine warrior . Like his mentor did to him. " let's begin " he meowed to himself

Saltpaw sloppily leaped at a ball of moss, landing lopsidedly with a growl. As she started getting more frustrated she was doing worse, her leap landing to short or to far, her aim getting farther to one side or the other, her bites sloppier. She yelled out and tries again, tears pricking the sides of her eyes. |

Padding into the training cave, Cypresspaw immediately took notice of one of his fellow apprentices struggling with . . Was that a ball of moss? It wasn't even a moving target. He had to refrain from scoffing, sitting nearby and wrapping his ash colored tail around his paws. "You'll never be a warrior if you can't even successfully attack moss." If she was hoping for positive feedback, she wouldn't receive it from Cypresspaw. When he wasn't exhibiting his snarky attitude, his harsh, borderline cynical view of any situation was present. |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave
Quote:
"Shut up!" She hissed, throwing her head at Cypresspaw. "I know I'm a bad hunter, and I know I'm not pretty, and I know I'm bad at fighting, I know I'll never be a warrior like this." She hissed. This tom wasn't helping, her frustration was through the roof. She whipped around. She was done with this moss, and she needed something to take her frustration out on. "Attack me!" She snarled, her blue and white tail whipping like it had a mind of its own. Her claws sliced in and out quickly, and she stood at sparring stance, her head low. "I said attack me!" She slid her claws back in, ready to spar. |

Despite the fact the she-cat had managed to startle Cypresspaw with her outburst, he didn't allow his astonishment to show, complying by assuming the beginning of an attack stance, and asking prior to launching at her, "you want me to take you through the motions?" Cypresspaw was younger, yet offered to show her the technique in a borderline condescending way, whether the offer was genuine or not. |

Giving her a look, as if to say 'suit yourself,' without speaking out loud, Cypresspaw leant slightly on his hind legs and launched forward without warning, going for one of the least lethal moves, and attempting to land a hit on her with a front paw blow to the head. There was some force behind the attack, yet his claws were sheathed, so if it landed it would likely only daze her. Following this up he swiped at her front legs to unbalance her, and if successful, pin her. |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave

She dodged the head blow quickly, same with the swipe at her front legs, for she was a much better fighter than she let on. She follows the dodge with a forceful shove, her front paws aimed for his chest, which would follow in a pin. |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave

Anticipating her to be less skilled than she was proving to be, Cypresspaw didn't expect an easy win against a weak opponent in the first place, he had pride in his clan, and how they wouldn't raise weaklings to nearly full fledged warrior status– however he still anticipated a win nonetheless. He had confidence in his own abilities, and in her failure with the moss, and her outburst at him when he'd made a comment about her poor show. From his short observation of the cat, Cypresspaw hoped he could use these flaws against her. Due to his close proximity after his failed attacks, he took the first blow to the chest, slightly winding him, and leaving him open to her following attack. Still, he twisted out from beneath her before she could complete her pin, rolling to the side and leaping at her flank in one flowing movement, again hoping to unbalance her, using the full force of his weight and propelling himself forward this time. |

The tom should've seen it coming from lengths away, however she still managed to take him by surprise yet again, a startled "mraow–" escaping him as she successfully landed on top of him.
