The mossy colored apprentice clicked his teeth awkwardly as he sent an 'sos' glance to Butterflypaw who already seemed put off by the kit and Cricketpaw knew that was even without being able to read cats as well as Cricketpaw could. Like how there were several things that went against this false narrative that Pinekit was trying to build around them, dragging wool over their eyes more like a sheep than a tree. His eyes narrowed further as the kit explained that 'he wouldn't hurt them' when no one had even brought up that possibility.

"Well hate to inform you that me and my pal here aren't easily convinced," Well maybe, Butterflypaw was paranoid but wasn't so much a mind reader and social prodigy that Cricketpaw was, they balanced each other out- Cricketpaw handling cats with ease and Butterflypaw covering all things strength and fighting. "I wasn't worried about you trying to hurt us... but now that you've mentioned it randomly... ehh, seriously, you are weirding me and my pal out." Cricketpaw's attention was brought towards Butterflypaw as the other apprentice seemed to bristle at Pinekit's comments.

His eyes narrowed. Crazy. Pretend. Fake. Was that not what everyone was. Lies and truth are fuzzy, lies and truth not being any better or worse than the other. What harm does it do to take comfort in harmless lies in a world so desolate of hope and built on grief and loss. His mind shifted to Sophia, the cat that found him in the barn before taking him to Shadowclan, where his family resided. Many considered her as fake, a ghost, a haunting. Was he mad for loving the cat that saved his life on the basis of others?

"Butterfypaw? Buddy?" His eyes shifted to his guide, his remaining light within the clan. The brunet only shook his head and continued to stare down the kitten that was quickly securing his place in Butterflypaw's mind as someone not very good.

The Recluse was curled up in a cozy nook of the clearing, slumber creeping upon his heavy features before the faint sound of hurried paw steps alerted him, ears swiveling his eyes fluttered open and peered at the warrior before him, the she cat staring back greeted him with an immediate bit of information- gossip even- that had his attention rather quickly. Ears perking showing his clear interest, despite the deadpan he held firmly still, he cleared his throat and moved up shaking out his fur and smoothing it down. Interesting that he would be so frequently spoken with today, usually he was disinterested in tidbits of socializing but when it was forced upon him it was clear he couldn't do much but oblige the conversation starter. The owls bribed by outsiders? That would have horrendous effect on loners being let into the clan surely... he rolled his shoulders gaze now meeting Lightning Strike. "Really...?"He hoped the question would prompt an explanation. This could be shared elsewhere.

He nodded along, feigning interest in the feline themself as he slowly chewed the conspiracy down, ears twitching he idly folded his paws over one another and waited for the feline to finish, at the offer of evidence he was truly curious, what could possibly back up this?"Evidence?" He parroted, raising a brow, it was a difficulty to think of what would come next but if it was something that required a goose-chase for information he'd be quick to decline, willing to hear the words yet not act on seeking out the "truth". He was quite cozy listening to this stretch of a thread this cat had weaved, he'd only follow it as long as he remained comfortable. A quick clear of his throat, "What sort of... evidence?" Ending with another question, showing his 'interest. "I'm sure whatever you have.. is true." He'd add on, an impulsive set of words, yet not one he held to his true beleifs.
