Re: ShadowClan Clearing

•° Lupinepaw °•

On days like today, one could find a certain creamish orangish tabby sitting in the clearing. His task today? Prodding at a ball of moss he found. It was very squishy under his claws. It felt kind of icky. Lupinepaw kept poking at it as his face grew more and more grossed out.

When he finally got sick of that, he began to bat it around. And then squished it with a paw. And then, of course, re-formed it. And went right back to poking at the material with a claw. Weeeiiiird. He stuck out his tongue. He then kept his tongue stuck out to see if he could see it, which resulted in him crossing his eyes and sticking out his tongue (to no avail, by the way. His big ol' muzzle was in the way.)

Suffice it to say, Lupinepaw was bored out of his gourd. And he didn't even know what a gourd was. He just knew he was bored out of his.

Blackbirdsong padded into the clearing and sat down, stretching. The patrol had been rough, they hadn't caught anything and had a skirmish with a rogue. Stars, he was tired. He couldn't go to bed, though, he needed to go out later.

Sleepysunrise had an utterly dramatic expression on her face. She look askance, tongue entering and exiting her mouth as she tried to get the awful taste off her tongue. Turns out, lizard, not it. She had tried to eat around the bony little tough things and it was not worth it. Maybe her taste buds changed since she last had lizard, but ew.

Sleepysunrise huffed, displeased, when she felt a nudge and heard a purr. Her eye closed above where she'd been nudged, other eye looking up to find her little brother at her side. For a moment her fur prickled uncomfortably, but she chased it down, not letting the younger cat know.
"I'm free."
She answered, letting the tom settle in close if he wanted to.

It was kind of funny watching how displeased Sleepysunrise seemed by that little lizard, it couldnt truly be that bad? Well if any was left he would finish it for her, Bleedingpaw really had no likes or dislikes for prey. He'd wait until offered however, and for now settled down and reached to grab the snake skin.

"Miss Brairsplash taught me to snake hunt of late and as it turns out skinning a snake is rather.... unnecessary. They apparently dont shed like furred creatures do but rather skin themselves and leave the old dried skin behind as evidence of them in the area.

Its rather bizarre but I found the skin and thought you might find it interesting to examine so brought it back.
I think the snake itself is on the prey pile somewhere, Id avoid it I rather uh, pulverized the bones on my first attempt so there'll be lots of little pieces."
Edible still but not the most pleasant unless you were the 'eat the little bones' type. Some of the larger and less picky cats were, but lessons learned about how to properly kill snakes.

That was besides the point however, for now he'd handed his sister a curiosity and she liked those. Maybe she'd try and make a remedy out of it.

Re: ShadowClan Clearing

Grottopaw was making an utter mess in the clearing.

His claws were stained and his paws smeared with the innards of a ruined mouse. He'd wanted to try to learn how to flay - the art that kept Mother's den lined and warm with pelts - but his self-teaching session had turned out... well, much less than satisfactory. Instead of the mouse's pelt (and the skull he had admittedly been trying to get at), he had been rewarded with a mess of blood, bones, and guts.

Perhaps something as small and delicate as a mouse hadn't been a great first pick. Grottopaw frowned down at his ruined project and swept his tail over the ground. Tearing up another prey item probably wouldn't be the best idea. He'd have to find someone to teach him.

He ate what was still edible, cleaned his paws off as best he could, and then stood, scanning the clearing for his nearest victim. That scarred black-and-tan cat looked like she knew what she was doing. "You," he called out as he crossed the clearing to Fishbite. "Teach me how to skin."
