Berryshine ducked into the nursery, blinking her eyes to adjust to the dim, cozy lighting. It'd been awhile since she'd been in here, although she did like to check in from time to time to get a gauge on how the queens and kits were faring. She should do better with it, she mused to herself, letting her green gaze wander around. Alright, everything seemed fine at first glance, no scent of sickness in the air...

...until she noticed a small frame curled up by herself. The kit looked to be older, nearing apprentice age, yet wasn't talking to anyone. Perhaps she could've been asleep; but at second glance, the medicine cat saw that the older kit was awake. In any normal sense, Berryshine might've left her be, letting the cat have some peace and quiet. But something... felt off, like perhaps the kit wasn't feeling well or had other troubles. Perhaps it reminded her of how she used to be; always alone in the nursery, keeping to her own company both voluntarily and not. Something about it tugged at her heart, a feeling she couldn't ignore.

The instincts of a healer taking over, Berryshine quietly padded over towards Acornkit, careful not to disturb the sleeping cats or step on tumbling kits that bounced past her paws. She settled in front of the young cat, a respectable distance away but close enough to be friendly.

"H-Hi, there... I'm Berryshine. What's your name?" The medic asked gently, her tone as quiet and soft as the plush moss surrounding them. The kit may or may not recognize her as the medicine cat—not all kits showed up to Clan meetings or knew too much about the inner-workings—so she didn't want to make any assumptions.
