Eagleflower nodded, shaking his now dusty fur off. The move was quite effective when you did it right. And he did, if fact, so so. He grinned back at the apprentice.

Eagleflower laughed, the chuckle traveling around the hollow. He felt at home. He hadn't since Dreampaw left. Shaking out his fur, he stood up, glancing around the clearing.
"How about some more hunting practice, huh?"

Kinda stupid of me to be honest." the color point shrugged as if fighting and surviving the jaws of a predator three times his size with only a few scars was not a big deal.

As he spoke, the warrior was pressing his paws down in the sand under his feet, looking hard at where the drop of would be. But nearly neck deep without the feeling of an edge had the tom clinch his jaw. Yeah, that wasn't good. The water was deeper and he refused to chance Harepaw's safety when the current could drag the younger cat under if he didn't know how to work around it.

He turned back to his apprentice. "Don't get any farther than this ok. I haven't found the drop off to deeper waters so that means the river's been swollen from snow melt. At this height on the shoreline it'll be deep enough for you to float with your legs above the ground." he warned seriously.

"I'm not sure of the specifics, but last gathering when the new leader, Duskstar made her announcements, she made it pretty clear she wanted nothing to do with Shadowclan." he said as he waded through the river water to come up to Harepaws side.

"Think you're ready to come in deeper? I'll pull you back if you get to far out from the limit I set."

Harepaw glanced at the water, stepping forward a few paces. Glancing at his pelt, he asked, "Do you think my tail will cause me to not swim properly? Since it's like a bunny tail?"

"The tail is just more dead weight in the water unlike on land where we use it to balance, honestly you just have one less appendage that underwater currents could latch onto to drag you under." Brightwhisker explained.

"You mainly use your legs to swim, so you should be fine."

(I have no idea if japanese bobtails can balance as well as any cat, but they can jump amazing heights.)
