Sitting between two cattails near the edge of the pond, sprigcloud stared at his reflection on the water. He stared at himself for what seemed like forever. He shifted uncomfortably, it was like he was staring at another person. He wondered if he had always look like....that. It was hard to describe-- not necessarily attractive, but not ugly or anything. More or so neutral, a mixture of the two. Most people looked neutral, not too many people were unnaturally attractive or unnaturally ugly. Almost anybody would be okay with looking decent.

Except for him. He slapped his paw against the water, his reflection distorting and disappearing within the waves of the water. He felt irritated, unlike himself. Why did he look so odd just then? So neutral? He did not feel attractive, and the feeling made him itchy and gross all over. He shuddered in disgust and borderline fear. Did other people see him like that? He hoped not...surely they would tell him if he really looked like that.

He hoped.

"Maybe it was a bad idea coming here..." sprigcloud admitted quietly, tearing his gaze off of the water. Yeah, no, he shouldn't have came here. Now he felt like little bugs were crawling all over him, just bad in general. No matter how hard he protested, his eyes landed back on his reflection in the water. He grit his teeth together.

Blizzardsky gave a small nod to his dad, he was so glad his dad was home, he couldn’t wait to introduce him to Spicekit, his perfect little child. Who was last he checked napping somewhere in the nursery, at least that’s where she was this morning. He trusted her not to disappear and just to hang in the nursery all day, she wasn’t like him as a kit, he was trouble she was perfect and frankly he assumed she just slept until he arrived then awoke to hang out with him, but he was so wrong, she was secretly a troublemaker and much more mischevious than he realized,” Oh there’s so much stuff that’s happened, some is good some isn’t so good, where do you want to start.” he asked, There was so much he needed to inform him of: Sugarapple, the dangerous warrior Kestrelwing, who was a kitnapper and who he caught stealing a windclanner’s kit, his love interest Heronflight, his child Spicekit, his theory that Finchwhisker killed Sugarapple, that all his other siblings on his dad’s side were gone, but he was still here, and well the whole Sootstar situation. But his dad was here at least.

Kestrelsplash smiled. It's very exciting! I can't wait to see their little faces!" He couldn't help feeling a sharp sting of guilt. Guilt he didn't understand, though. Why was he feeling like this was his fault? What was his fault? He'd done nothing wrong! Fernstream was going to have his kits! It was the best thing he'd heard in moons.

But what if it was painful? Would a kit die? Would he not be the father he sees himself being in the future? Would he not be brave, confident? Would his kits get upset with him? What if his kits grew up into rebellious Apprentices or Warriors because he couldn't be there all the time? So many questions with no answers upset him, but he kept a happy face on for Fernstream.

"I hope I'm a good father. I bet you'll be an amazing mother." He purred.

The tabby immediately took her paw out of the water and gave it a few licks to dry it. Oops. A not-so-smart moment from the warrior.

Once they settled in a different place around the pond, the molly waited for Baypaw to ask the question, which she did. "Glad you asked! Oh! Also, when I was tapping the water I was just, uhhh, testing the water!" A complete lie.

"Anyways, back to how you fish! Oh wait, can I tell you a funny story first? When I was learning to fish, I accidentally mistook a leaf for a fish!" Duckbounce giggled as she recalled the memory.

"Anyways, actually back to fishing. You first want to make sure there's fish in the water, but I saw you were looking at them already so we know they're already there! Of course, unless you want to check again." She waited a few seconds just in case they did want to check.

"Ok! So next, you want to gently stick your paw into the water. Make sure not to touch any fish yet, or you could scare them away!"Like Duckbounce. "Make sure to focus on the area around your paw. Once a fish swims really close, swipe towards it quickly and also quickly bring your paw up! And bam, you got yourself a fish! It's a really simple process, although it may take some practice. Oh! I also should mention keeping your claws unsheathed for all of that!'

A shudder ran down Bumblebellys back, hard and fast like. Was it the feeling of fear? Expecting seven cats to come hit him at once? At least Blizzardsky had been understandable... so far. "We will have to make a night of it, my boy!" He purred with content to him, letting out a deep chesty sigh of relief.

He glanced around camp, a twinkle in his eyes. Everything was so familiar yet... so different. A homesickness burrowed into his chest but along with ut, it bought the realisation that Riverclan was home. A tear pricked the corner of his scarred, cloudy eye. "Thank you for bringing me home, Blizzardsky.",

He purred at her encouragement. "We'll both be amazing parents. Together." He couldn't just sit here and not give her anything in return! He looked down at the pond and decided to get some fish. He stood up and leaned down, putting a paw up a bit so the ground won't get in the way of him striking. The stance made him remember his Mentor. He glanced up at the sky. I hope you're watching over me now, Brownfeather. I won't let your training go to waste. He watched a fish swim near, then come closer, then he swung his paw, watching it spin while it flung into the air.

Yes! I- wait, no! He noticed it was too far away from the ground to fall there; it was still right over the water; it'd fall back in for sure! He jumped up to bite it, and when he did he felt water hit his fur. He had fallen into the pond grabbing the fish. He turned to Fernstream before climbing back up onto the grass, putting the fish down before he shook his fur. "Here's something as a thank you. I know I can't give you anything that's equally as great as kits like you will, but I just had to give you something."

Fernstream smiled. She licked over Kestrelsplash's wet fur. "Thanks. But we should share it" she meowed, taking a bite and then pushing it towards her mate with one paw. "I still can't believe it... kits!" Fernstream meowed happily as she watched her mate, purring. This was so exciting. They'd have their own family soon! She licked her mates ear softly, and then layed down watching the clouds pass by.

Blizzardsky gave his father a comforting nuzzle as he smiled,” I’m just glad your back.” he meowed forcing himself not to yammer on about every little thing that happened since Bumblebelly had disappeared. He instead continued to grin like an idiot.

Kestrelsplash purred back, taking his share of the fish and laying next to her. As he laid down he noticed how much he really needed this time away from the camp; it was nice, relaxing. With all the noise and ruckus in camp he needed to just be outside; just him and his mate, and his future kits. He purred at the thought of the kits.
