[Hawkbite]
Enforcer Commander
Shadow Fiend | Agatha Kitty | Kitty Softpaws T2

Hawkbite jumped into the fray. His claws outstretched, slamming down on rat after rat. Swatting away potential bites from snakes and rodents as he made his way through the crowd, watching the numbers dwindle little by little. Rodents would grow close, a little too close, as they tried to bite him, but not successfully doing so. Not today! Hawkbite didn't feel like falling victim to them.

This is for Yellowtwist. This is for our clanmates.
We will not let you win! You're JUST PREY!

The words were repeated in his mind, driving him forward with his clanmates. Everyone was taking some bites it seemed. A snake had gotten his paw once, but nothing serious. He moved with trained speed. His smaller frame able to outmaneuver the simple leaps and attempted strikes with ease.

Then he heard it. A singular scream of an owl.

Hawkbite swatted away a rat, leaping for a nearby tree and hauling himself up with complete silence. His gaze shifted to the treetops, searching for the source... and then he saw it. A massive bird came crashing down into the midst of a rat pile, taking off with two rats in its grasp. The creatures were screaming, giving away the position of the owl as it tried to make its way back through the forest. It seems it had come for an easy meal and nothing else. He wasn't sure they could've dealt with another fight at this moment.

He had a different idea.

Gaze shifting down from the branch he stood on. The two nearest warriors there would due. "NEWTBELLY! SLEEPYSUNRISE! QUICKLY, FOLLOW ME!" Hawkbite instructed. Sleepysunrise should know better than to disobey. Whether Newtbelly heard him or not wouldn't stop the mission at hand. Hawkbite leapt from the tree and began bounding towards the direction of the owl. He could only just see it's wings flap in the distance as it made its escape. "Quickly!"

The Commander would hope Dawnstar or Mistlewhisker would see them running off before his small patrol would disappear. We're not dead... we'll be back... he mentally promised as his legs moved quickly through the undergrowth. "Keep quiet, stay hidden, we're following that owl!" he huffed through breaths, slinking into the shadows as he led them along. If they stayed close enough, they'd be able to follow him in the shadows as they tracked the owl down.

[this will be a quick 1-2 post per person patrol where they will find the location of the owl nest]

He followed with DawnStars patrol, then the attack was called. He kept out at a snake, gaze narrowed. This was his first true fight for his clan, at least as a warrior, this was big. He couldn’t spect time worrying about others. BristleThorn…MagpiePaw. He had to focus on the slithering demons. His one was wriggling all around, giving quite the fight. He tried to snap at it, but its mouth was all over the place. He lost it upon the stinging pain on his shoulder. The spammed thing bit him. He yelped, just for a moment, before going and wrapping his jaws around its upper body and throwing it around till it was dead.

He stepped away a moment before leaving the body and going for another fight. Blood seeped from his shoulder wound, he’d certainly remember that one for a while.

She leapt when ordered from the opposite side of DawnStar and her own son. She snapped around at snakes, glancing to her son occasionally. She saw the snake he was fighting- she saw it was close to biting him. Just as she jerked forward to warn him- to help him, he got bit. Drat. Just as she was still distracted she felt a sharp pain on her tail…then her stomach. Two snake bites. She quickly turned around, snapping at the snake on her stomach first. It was closer to her front legs, therefore difficult to bend and reach and get a good grasp on, especially in a time of panic. Her tail was quickly moving back and forth as to try and get the second off as well.

She succeeded in getting the one off her tail, snapping down on its neck and throwing it aside once she knew it was dead. The one causing the most pain though…goodness was it difficult.

Kitty Soft Paws, Heightened Perception [smell]
[a small, fluffy tortoiseshell she-cat with pale green eyes and an atrociously fluffy tail, a small tick in her right ear, and a scar on her cheek]

[tw: minor gore]

The shudders running through her entire body froze for just a moment. Willowpaw! Behind you! It felt like she was trembling too much to move, but she managed to turn her head around and spot Starlingcall leap on a snake that had been slithering towards, and finish it off swiftly. Alarm shot through her. Willowpaw hadn't even noticed it was there within all the noise and fighting going around. Another bolt of dread shot through her, worse this time. What about Turtlepaw? The other apprentice might not get as lucky as she'd been, with a warrior warning Willowpaw about the approaching reptile. And if it was particularly venomous and bit her.... The thought sent her gazing frantically back and forth through the crowd, searching out her friend's calico pelt, whilst worried thoughts billowed through her mind like thunderclouds.

Willowpaw nearly died of relief. Turtlepaw had another apprentice fighting with her; she was safe. She was fighting off rats back to back with an apprentice called Pondpaw, if she remembered correctly.

At that time, she hadn't notice the snake, camouflaging itself in the grass, slowly, slowly slithering towards her. It was only at the last second, when a shrill hiss sounded, that Willowpaw had a sliver of awareness. But by then, it was too late. Fangs slid into her foreleg. The apprentice took a bit too long for comfort to process what had just happened, and then began shaking herself vigorously. After a while of clawing at the snake - she saw it was already wounded a bit - that seemed to be holding on with the power of its entire life force and fourteen greek gods and shaking her foreleg, it released its hold. Willowpaw would've let the snake go without impunity, but brain said

https://i.ibb.co/S363dcJ/human3.png

Before it could slither away, Willowpaw pounced without thinking. Her paws slammed down multiple times on its head, as hard as she could muster. The snake hissed one final hiss that seemed to say "YOU WOULDN'T DARE! I SHALL HAUNT YOU FOR A THOUSAND YEARS AND MORE, MY CURSE A BURDEN UPON YOUR FRACTURING SPIRITUAL SOUL SLUGGISHLY COLLAPSING FROM WIT-" just before her paw slammed down on its head, killing it. She stared at the surprisingly big mess she'd made of it, blood and bone and other pinkish mush splattered across the ground where a skull and scales once were. She did that. But she didn't feel proud, not even a bit. Willowpaw nearly threw up at the sight of it, gagging at the horrid smell. It was already overwhelming with the other scents melding together into whatever frankenstein concoction she was smelling at the moment. She decided to not let her instinct to do anymore fighting.

The headache hit a while later. The apprentice had managed to kill her 3rd rat, with the same strategy; slamming her paws down onto its head. She'd only meant to knock it out, so she could maybe give it a more painless death. Instead, she'd killed it in what was probably the most painful way she could. Willowpaw already had a deep, horrible sense of guilt and sick stirring in her belly as she stared at the rat she killed, when a headache blistered through her skull. It was followed by a throbbing pain by her foreleg, where she'd been bitten. The apprentice had nearly forgotten about it, thinking the snake must've just not done the venom thingy they should do https://i.ibb.co/DRyf4Y4/zimozimo-50x45.gif

That theory was proven wrong. Willowpaw was basically death fodder as another rat saw her clutching the swelling bite mark. Fear flooded every single muscle, even her foreleg - that she, for some reason, could not move - wanted to sprint away........ from the tiny.... little..... mouse like.... rodent...... wow she was really wea- It was hard, relying off three legs and a half-holy-whats-that-a-unicorn???-nvm-just-dizzy brain. The rat crawled up her paralyzed leg, giving her a feeling like bugs crawling all over her pelt. Then up, and up, and up all the way to her face. Willowpaw frantically scratched at her own muzzle with one paw, thankfully avoiding injuring herself this time, knocking the rat off and unbalancing herself. It was on her flank before she could get herself back to her paws, biting and gnawing. The apprentice let out a high pitched and squeaky "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" of pain. Willowpaw dug her fang into her own shoulder, ripping a bit of fur off as she yanked the rat's tail. She was able to fling back into the battle, the rat escaping with minimal injuries.

For a moment she lay there, certain she was going to die and everything would be over and nothing wouldve been worth it and she'd never been useful once in her entire life and senpai had never noticed her and now that she thought about it maybe markiplier had hated her. 'Well, i'm fairly certain crying about it won't do much, huh?' She thought sternly to herself in a hiss, 'Get up and deal with it'. Willowpaw heaved herself up with a massive effort. She briefly wondered what would happen if she by any chance took an approximately 7000 year nap in the middle of a battle field. Before that amazing very appealing reality could happen, Willowpaw dragged herself over to Rookfire. Willowpaw carefully avoid the critters they were fighting, seeing with a guilty pleasure (*snipes word guilty with shoe ranged attack* go away!!!!!!!!) that the rats and snakes were dwindling in numbers. "Hey uh... d-d-d-d-do you hav-hav a-anything f-fo-for l-like, snakeb-bites? A-And r--rat bites.. to-too" The apprentice whispered. Willowpaw presented the twin fang marks on her forelimb. A part of her prayed to StarClan that the Twoleg writing her listening to the coconut song or smth wouldn't make them scar; she had enough of those already.

rookfire could barely see what was going on to be honest, already half tempted to come over to see for himself as the hoard of rats slowly grew smaller. or perhaps the rats were fanning out, blending into the dark soil beneath their paws, tufts of grass or fleeing into bushes, he didnt know, couldnt know and he didnt like it. lots of bites and scratches though, he could recognise that. the faint shine of blood on fur, that coldnt simply be those coming from the rats and snakes, yet no cat injured enough to come by him just yet. genuinely, he was slowly starting to believe he couldve easily just joined the fight and treated cats after, back at camp and without the nausea that was slowly creeping up on his, not yet sure if it was the knowledge that swallowing burdock root did that exact thing or the actual reaction of his body. honestly, it was probably the knowledge in combination with the nerves still radiating through his body. when dawnstar started twisting and clawing at her neck in order to remove the snake tightening, threatening to cut off her air, rookfire lunged forward with little hesitance but stopped, seeing two apprentices had gotten to her already.
halfway towards the 'battle field' rookfire was met by willowpaw who looked miserable to be honest and offered her to lean against him as they made their way back to his impromptu medicine den.. medicine..clearing..medicine..tree stump. nothing really had a ring to it but this wasnt a competition for the best name anyway. "yes, come on, sit, ya can lean against th' stump" he ushered her to sit, moving to rip some of the moss off the tree stump and dab it on her wounds, "'s may sting" the medic warned, brushing the soil and fur infested wounds clear by use of the moss before discarding it to the side and scooping up the leaf covered in his already chewed up burdock root paste to place it next to her.
perched up on his hind legs, he first coated the larger wounds, some of which looked to be small in size but relatively deep. the burdock root would numb the wounds no matter their size and get willowpaw well enough to at least not pass out on him, perhaps even rejoin the fighting. though, at a glance to the side, disrupting his retrieving of cobwebs to wrap up the wounds, it appeared most rats and snakes had found their end beneath skilled claws, laying unmoving scattered around the clearing. untangling the cobweb from the stick that had kept it clean and seperated, rookfire applied the silken threats with practiced ease, ensuring everything stay in place and clean for a while, in addition to calming the bleeding.
"all done. anythin' else i missed?" the medicine cat apprentice asked, briefly seeking her eyes before letting his eyes ghost over his body again.

As the snake came closer she found herself getting distracted. Shrewstep not far away from her was struggling as a snake moved towards him. She smashed the snakes head down near her and moved over to her friend. There Marigoldpaw smacked the snake with sharp claws when it was looking hoping to fling it across the clearing. There she ran and killed it instantly. She moved back to Shrewstep to attack anything else that tried to attack the other cat while he was down.

"You alright?", Marigoldpaw asked rather quickly. She kept her eyes peeled for anything else/

Sleepysunrise
[ 13 moons | She / Her | Shc Enforcer | Shadow Fiend ]

Claws ripped through tiny bodies and broken lengthy spines by slamming the snakes against the trees, tiny bite marks covering the base of her legs and slithering creatures increasingly trying to make its way around her every limb. Sleepysunrise fought these bites with surprising tolerance, a likely feat of adrenaline, and bit just behind snake heads when the long monsters tried to strangle her in turn, her own bite quicker than their strangling actions.

Tooth and claw ripped at the dwindling bodies, the bites and tears growing less as she gained on them, trying to keep Birdpaw within her eye – within a line where she could take the brunt of the force – momentarily falling away only when Dawnstar had an snake wrapped around her throat. The enforcer’s chest seized, and rushed forth to help with no regards of what bit her only to stop in her tracks when Pondpaw was there first, resigning the black and white-tufted enforcer to continue her fight.

Until Hawkbite called. His voice was strong, loud, urgent; piercing the overwhelming senses of the rats’ squeaks and demanding her presence. For a moment, she hesitated. Her eyes fell on Birdpaw, her mind went to Miss Grandmama – if she left now, she couldn’t protect them. If she left now, she may going against what her grandmother wanted, had asked, of this fight.

But a part of her remained rational; a part of her was well aware the enforcer’s commander wouldn’t demand them on an unnecessary errand unless he had gone mad. And right now he did not look mad. So, Sleepysunrise bit her tongue, cast a last look on her family, and shook off a rat and snake around her paws and back before darting after the commander with significant hurry.

Her ears twitch, looking ahead to finally spot the creature they were chasing at his command; a creature she had never before seen, but could recognise from tales and words, and knew to be as dangerous as its claws were sharp. Slinking low, Sleepysunrise’s pelt blurred into the shadows despite its lighter spot, for the first time truly akin to the way her mama’s pelt would carry them like a cloak; her paw steps light, she followed Hawkbite closely as needed.

Starlingcall breaths in relief as Dawnstar rips the snake off her hind leg. It tries to twist to examine any bite wounds but can't manage to see the place the snake decided to sink its fangs into their fur. While twisted, Starlingcall's vision is overcome with shadows at the edges. They shake their head and stumble to the side. The edges of the forest and cats around it meld together. Dawnstar struggling with a snake reaches their ears, but they don't recognize it until Pondpaw is already helping her get the snake from around her throat.

It's then Starlingcall realizes just how much blood it's covered in, and soon after that almost all of it is their own.

Starlingcall stumbles towards Rookfire, kicking away a rat on its way over to the medicine cat. They have to use the rest of their strength not to snarl at a whimpering Willowpaw. This is no apprentice, but a kit, Starlingcall thinks to itself, its rage bubbling beneath its dull green eyes. But they manage to hold their sharp tongue with a shake of their head, only for another wave of dizziness hits them and they have to sit down. They turn to the general shape they assume to be Rookfire.

"Treat the apprentice first," they growl, their bloody tail lashing behind them. "I can wait." Their rage seeps into their words, even if it is speaking genuinely. Apprentices come first, no matter if them being involved in the battle in the first place is mousebrained or not.

At the feeling of her mentor´s mate´s amber eyes seering into her fur, Pondpaw´s river-blue eyes flicked over to meet the black-and-white tom´s gaze before flicking back to see Briarsplash and her patrol reach the trees. Her gaze widened with worry as it landed on Birdpaw.

As her leader´s yowl to attack, Pondpaw hared out of the undergrowth at Starlingcall´s and Dawnstar´s sides. The she-cat made no noise, her scent hidden as her claws met with the oily fur of the rats.

A cry of pain hit Pondpaw´s ears, and she recognized the voice at once.

Turtlepaw.

River-blue hues flicked to the calico, and Pondpaw flung the rats she was fighting to the side. ´´I´m coming, Turtlepaw! Hold on!´´ She yowled.

With a burst of energy, the apprentice made sure that her blue-gray mackerel tabby pelt was only a flash in her denmate´s eyes as she appeared in front of her, gripping rats between her claws and opening deep wounds in their flanks. She gripped the rat that was holding onto Turtlepaw between her jaws, crushing its neck as she bit down.

The rat went limp at once, and Pondpaw threw it to the side. ´´Tail to tail,´´ She instructed Turtlepaw with a sharp hiss, a snarl escaping her throat and her claws caught the fur of her Clanmate´s rat.

Tortoiseshell she-cat with yellow eyes

Her eyes flicked over to the feline that tried to help her, Pondpaw? Right.... well she'll try to find her after this battle.. maybe. With a relieved but pained sight the calico molly limped off to find Rookfire, or at the very least Mossfreckle, Turtlepaw tried her best not to ponder about the mess her wounded ankle was making. She could die or get highly sick and would be of no use to her clan, and that alone was a definite no-go. The young molly's eyes light up as she saw Willowpaw being treated for her wounds, well the light didn't last long until some snotty warrior came along, nonetheless she'll keep her composure unlike some adult.

Turtlepaw's tail flicked anxiously as she awaited for Rookfire to mend her friend's wound, she worried less about her own battle scars. "Will she be alright?" She meowed in a low, soft, but anxious tone to the medicine apprentice, as her piercing yellow eyes trained and focused on the scurrying vermin and her dear friend.

Apprentices come first, no matter if them being involved in the battle in the first place is mousebrained or not.

rookfire just concluded his last visual check-up of willowpaw when a warrior made their way over, dilute tortoiseshell pelt covered in so much blood it made rook feel a bit bare with his clean pelt. he realistically couldnt make any assumptions about the percentage of rat to cat blood still sporting a wet shine in their pelt but given that it looked to be a bit of a harder fight than expected (he shouldve been allowed to participate star damn it) he wouldnt be overly surprised if it were a lot of their own blood. willowpaws snake bite had been bleeding a unusual amount as well and as he glanced over to her, the cobwebs wrapped around her leg were already taking on a pinkish tint. stars what the hell did the snakes do.
as the former enforcer strode over to the tree stump to gnaw another bit of burdock root off the .. well, root, he faintly recognised starlingcall swatting away a rat yet the faint appreciation that briefly bloomed in his chest knowing he didnt have to worry about willowpaw being attacked again wisped away like fog in the wind when the warrior spoke up, voice more of a growl than anything. "no worries, 's done, i'll get ta' ya now" the medic muttered around the bitter root currently being crushed and ground between sharp molars, voice as neutral as could be while swallowing stomach-ache inducing leftover juices and having a cat irrationally mad at some apprentice that had probably never seriously fought anything before..which rook thought was a bit stupid but man they needed all the cats they could get to not get overpowered by some rats n snakes. letting the burdock root paste gather on the leaf on the ground he ripped out some more of the trees moss, shaking off bark, soil and any potential bugs before turning to address the dilute tortie.
the first real wound he recognised was on the warriors hind leg but took a moment to locate amongst all the blood before he could briefly press the moss to the wound to soak up some of the coppery liquid before applying some of the burdock paste and securing it with cobwebs. if the warrior flinched at the sting, rookfire ignored it as best as possible, moving onto the next wound to repeat the process, cool eyes flicking to the apprentice and the remaining cats fighting every once in a while. where the burdock root sat dry and bitter on his tongue and throat, the herb would allow almost immediate pain relief for the injured cats, cooling and numbing the affected area.
"this'll help with the bleedin' n pain, try ta' not rip the cobwebs off so soon."

[ since i forgot last time L: 4.5x burdock root, 3 cobwebs, 3 horsetail | perhaps more cobwebs wouldve been a good choice huh :skull: ]

She could die or get highly sick and would be of no use to her clan, and that alone was a definite no-go. once rookfire finished treating starlingcall, grey eyes flicking between the two cats, the rats and snakes still involved in the fight and the remaining herbs, stars three cobwebs what had he been thinking when deciding to take five whole burdock roots and only five cobwebs..to the fair, this wasnt supposed to be some big healing set up here but if a lot more cats came around too injured to go back to camp before being treated he might have to send someone off to find him some more cobwebs.. by the time another tortoiseshell (what was it with tortoiseshell cats and getting injured anyway?), turtlepaw, made their way over to the little 'gathering' around the tree stump, rookfire had not yet finished worrying about the cobwebs. her appearance didnt really make this any better either if she needed to be treated now.
the quiet question that met his ears above the screeches and growls of the fighting, one he had more or less expected as soon as he had seen the apprentice approach. cool grey eyes flicking from the other point of interest to scan the apprentices form, locate and assess any wounds he could see from here. "she'll be fine, 's nothin' i havent seen b'fore. d'ya need anythin' treated urgently?" he asked, swallowing the question about someone fetching cobwebs for the moment before addressing all of of three cats gathered around, "anyone able ta' tell me how much longer ye thing this is gonna last?" the medicine cat apprentice enquired, nodding in the direction they had all come from, in an attempt to scope out the necessity of some impromptu herb patrols.
