the warrior couldn't help but smile. she let out a sigh as she spoke, "i know, but you'll be an apprentice in no time. and you can still ask around camp to see if any apprentices will show you some moves. but you gotta promise, no more sneaking out, okay?" so, what? maybe violetfreckle had a soft spot for kits. just maybe.

"None of the apprentices won't teach me because I'm so tiny!!" It's true, honeykit was a very small kit, smaller than most kits her age. @vellichor

Stay in the shallow. That was the easy part, and to Littlepaw's surprise, the pond had a lot of shallow parts. Perhaps that would make the lesson go smoothly. Littlepaw, despite being nervous, forced herself to listen to her mentor. It was the best choice she could make at the moment, she didn't want to be disrespectful and head out to be in the middle of the pond. She was way too inexperienced for that.

"O-okay... I'll try my b-best," the she-cat hiccuped unexpectantly, making her curve her back. Phew. Here we go... I've got this. Come on, Littlepaw... the apprentice closed her eyes in an attempt to make herself relax while one by one, she began lifting her paws. In turn, she sank slightly into the water and made Littlepaw's anxiety rise. However, Littlpaw fought to keep her paws off of the muddy earth below her and began to kick out as hard as she could with her back legs, making them splash in the water. Once she slowly started to move, the apprentice paddled with her forepaws slowly. It took her a little bit to get used to water going up to her chin, and she was forced to lift her head, which in turn, made her neck hurt. I can do this... I can do this... I can do this... is all the small cat could say to herself. Once she got faster in the water, the apprentice angled her paw and kicked harder with that paw until she started to turn. And then she waved her tail, urging her hind legs to follow suit and turn her entire body around. This made her lopsided and she felt her cheek go into the water.

"G-gingerfrost? A-am I d-doing o-okay?" Littlepaw couldn't help but ask the shield, she had to calm herself down otherwise she'd freeze and start to sink.

After asking her question, she fought to keep afloat so she kicked until she was very close to the edge of the pond. This comforted her a bit, but it still made her anxious. She was grateful for Gingerfrost being close by, so if she started to drown, she could count on him to pull her out. He's a good friend. He's a good friend. In all honesty, Littlepaw was more nervous than she had ever been (besides the disaster that happened at the last Gathering), she tried her best to keep herself calm, but the more time she spent in the water, the more anxious she got.

[ Aww, thank you! Little is going to be such a great warrior as well!! :heartbounce: ]

So this was... Interesting. New. He hadn't seen this one yet. Did age affect the way one learned how to swim? No, no. Cannonball hadn't been much younger, if at all, than Littlepaw (he was pretty sure, at least). He didn't quite yet frown, but there were certainly some interesting things they'd need to address. One of which, her turning. It could be good in an emergency situations needing a quick reaction, but for now they weren't there yet. Would he need to..? Oh no, he'd have to get wet wouldn't he. The shield heaved a heavy sigh. It is true that his mentor gave him an example first... Visual aid was always good. He just hoped this would go similarly to canonball. But guess not.

Forcing himself to his paws, fluffing out his pelt and solemnly staring at the water as he dragged his paws over, he exhaled a breath. Wordlessly the shield got in the water, a brief grimace flashing across his face as the cold water seeped into his thick fur. It had been while.
"Try to push and quick a bit harder;"
Gingerfrost firstly commented, having noticed her near underwater chin. As if demonstrating, he floated a bit there before swimming a circle.
"We use our tails to steer, like so. That won't have you go lopsided like you did."
They could look into the paw technique later. Basics first. Once his circle finished, he moved a few ways away from Littlepaw to give her space to try.

Littlepaw got herself belly-deep in the water, she was close enough to the land to prevent herself from getting nervous but also close enough to the shallows so she'd be able to continue swimming when Gingerfrost gave her the go-ahead. But to her surprise, the tom would be joining her in the water. Now, this was a lot better. Her anxiety was close to dissipating, but it was not yet gone. Perhaps it'd be gone once she learned how to swim and got confident enough. Noticing the shield's grimace, Littlepaw cast an apologetic glance at her mentor. If she had known he didn't like water as much, she would have tried harder.

"Okay!" Littlepaw still tried to be enthusiastic about the whole idea of swimming, so she got her belly back into the water and began swimming again. She looked at how Gingerfrost was doing it and studied his movements. Kicking hard and pushing herself forward with her legs, Littlepaw quickly noticed how her chin stayed above water. Okay, this was an improvement. Next to improve was her steering. She had to use her tail to turn, although her paw was certainly effective, Gingerfrost had a point.

"I'll try," she promised and began trying to turn to her right. Her tail was going left and right, though she lashed her tail as fast as she could to the left without going lop-sided. Little by little, she gained her confidence, and a smile formed on her face. "Am I doing okay now?"

Her voice sounded much more confident, though it was a tad shaky.

It was surprising yet also not that surprising to find his example had helped. He should have figured that out before, that such a lesson might go faster with a proper example, but the tom also knew it was possible to teach swimming without getting wet himself and... Well, that seemed more favourable most often. But seen it's effectiveness he might have to give this a try more often, despite the pain that would be drying his fur.

Carefully observing the apprentice's movements who, admittedly, suddenly looked more comfortable. Her chin wasn't water dipped anymore, and Littlepaw was advancing much more smoothly now. Good. Now he would just have to see the turn. Noting the swishing her tail, Gingerfrost watched how that turn would go; how smooth, how comfortable, with how much struggle, ... It was fairly good, honestly. She at least (hopefully) wouldn't be drowning now.
"You can slightly shift your weight in the direction you're trying to turn as well. It can make it easier, if you don't go lopsided"
Which was why the shield emphasized the words 'slightly'. So she would hopefully understand not to lean with her entire weight, only a bit to encourage turning.

With how this swimming lesson seemed to go - considering Littlepaw was swimming now - Gingerfrost decided it was alright for him to get out of the river now. His thick fur seemed to weight him down as he got out of the water - honestly, it could be quite the funny sight. He didn't suddenly like stick like some would, but the tom certainly did suddenly seem a bit less... Full, and more grumpy. Shaking out his pelt, droplets flying around as he did, he fluffed his fur the best he could to regain some warmth. Then proceeded to turn back to Littlepaw, letting her stay in the water however long she'd like now. Until, actually, the tom gave a nod, indicating the apprentice to swim some laps before they could call it a day. She could stay in the shallow if she liked, that didn't matter on the first lesson.

Littlepaw continued to swim, getting used to the turns while Gingerfrost spoke, it was actually... funner than she imagined. The water, although scary at first, was great to feel in between her toes. The dirt released itself from her paws, which made her feel much lighter. But Littlepaw knew she'd be heavy with all the water once she got out of the pond. Hearing that she could slightly shift her weight when turning, the cream tabby decided to give it a go. With a smile, the she-cat began her turn, shifting her weight ever so slightly. It worked out quite well, and Littlepaw was very happy with the result, but she knew she had to practice a bit more in order to get it down.

Focusing on her movements, Littlepaw breathed in and out. After about three swishes with her legs in the water, the apprentice attempted to turn once more. It was a tad awkward and nerve-wracking, but it was done in a matter of seconds. The process was repeated for about three times, and each time, it got easier for her. Perhaps she would make a good warrior! Happiness was brimming from her, though the thought of her assessment coming up was a little terrifying. What if something went wrong? But of course, Littlepaw was overthinking it. She always overthought everything, but the more confident she got, the less she overthought.

With all the swimming she was doing, she didn't even seem to notice how Gingerfrost had gotten out of the water. At this point, she was having fun. But she was also getting tired. She had too get out of the water soon. Changing her course, Littlepaw came out of the water and shook herself. Almost immediately, a shiver was sent down her spine. Brrr...

"I-I'm d-done, G-ginger... G-gingerfrost," Littlepaw shivered and sat down, hunching her shoulders. "C-can... c-can w-we g-go... go b-back to c-camp n-now?"

Watching from the sidelines with fluffed up fur and what could only be described as something like a neutrally grumpy face, Gingerfrost kept his eyes trained on Littlepaw as she happily swam in the water. Truthfully he wanted to go back as soon as possible once training was done, but seeing the older apprentice having fun, the ginger tabby huffed as he strangely decided he might as well tough it out a little longer and supervise her happy paddling. How annoying, but whatever. It got her practice. Right as a breeze ruffled his drying fur, having him supress a shiver, the tom was grateful when the sun's rays could finally makes it's way to warm his back as a previously present cloud left. Right at that moment, the shield noticed Littlepaw getting out. Clearly the shivering young apprentice was cold, when he was practically dry now (on the very surface only, that is). Getting up and gesturing with his head towards camp, indicating that they could indeed go back. He'd wait a brief moment, grumpy face still in place, until Littlepaw caught up with him to lightly and slightly lay his tail on the apprentice's shoulders as a too help keep her warmer (not that it might do much, but it was at least something). He couldn't have her catch a cold in green leaf, especially with her assessment this close and Fawnpaw. It was just an inconvenient time to get sick.

Seeing her mentor get up and tilt his head towards RiverClan camp, Littlepaw happily smiled and walked over to walk next to him, looking for any warmth that his body could offer. Sure, she could get warm during the walk, but it never hurt to speed up the process. As soon as she got next to Gingerfrost, Littlepaw felt the soft touch of his tail on her shoulders. It was... cold, but much warmer than she was. Casting a grateful glance toward the shield and a smile, she walked toward camp with her mentor.

Wormbite listened with burning curiosity on who Beansprout would go with. It wasn't a particularly hard choice but, he couldn't help but find it rather interesting. A chance to see what was rolling around in his clanmate's thoughts. On top of all, this was a familiar subject. Well, not familiar but, Wormbite was good with battle strategies. They were an interest,,..

He nodded in approval, the twitch of a smile briefly ghosting across his lips. "I do agree. Thunderclan currently carries the least stability and least united... Their leadership is very fickle, " He mewed in agreement, his shoulders loosening. At the light nudge, he only seemed to be slightly surprised before easing into the touch. "Solid leadership is the foundation of the clan, without then things get ... difficult, " Then you turn to mutiny. Thunderclan already tried that once, though, so who knew with them.

Wormbite thought for a moment before going on, "I would go with Windclan as a second target. They are stable and Twilightstar is a good leader with experience but, I do not believe their warriors are .. as vicious as Shadowclan. Along with the efforts of Thunderclan, the battle should be swift." They wanted to limit the causalities.

Whiskers twitching with amusement, "While these are... great plans. Very solid, when they are complete, what shall we name the combination of all four clans, hm..? Or do you believe we should stick with Riverclan..?" Wormbite prompted, he would choose Darkclan. As darkness is a rather nice thing.
