“Relax, you old fool.” Amber teased, leaping gracefully down from the fence and landing softly next to Phoenix. She wandered forward, her eyes scanning the yard. It was normal, ferns here, rose bush there, and there was Thunder, fishing as always. “Hi Thunder.” She meowed, her eyes flickering from the golden fish to Thunder’s paw dripping wet. “Any improvement?” She asked, peering into the water before dabbing her own paw gently into the surface. She then turned to Phoenix while waiting for Thunder’s response, and said: “Phoenix, I bet you can’t catch one either.” A purr and a hint of teasing came along with a sprinkle of challenge in her voice.

“Same. I never catch them.” She mused, looking at Thunder. She then turned with a cocky grin painted on her face to Phoenix. “Reward? Bragging rights,” She meowed happily, flicking her ear. “You aren’t too scared to prove me and Thunder wrong, are you?” She purred, nudging him with her head sweetly. “Come on, I'll try too if you try!” She meowed.

“Ick! You? I’d rather kiss a dog.” She meowed, curling her lip in faux disgust. “But, as I would love to see you fall in, I’ll live.” She meowed, feigning a gasp. She leaned over and gave him a quick lick on the cheek. She recoiled, stifling a playful purr. “Tastes like foxdung!” She meowed, glancing at Thunder. She nudged him, almost telling him to pay attention, as this was going to be good.

“Cheater! You didn’t fish! You flailed around until one smacked you in the face!” Amber meowed, huffing at him. She flicked her tail in aggravation, her eyes slanted but glimmering with tease and humor. “And I could do better, without soaking myself!” She boasted. She looked at the golden fish in his jaws, still flopping around. “Besides, you splashed me.” She then reached over the edge of the pond and licked his head. “And get out. My humans don’t like catfish in their pond.”
