Re: August Gathering

High Rank Announcement [#hrannouncement]

Sitting perched on the Seastones with a clear view of everything, it was hard to miss the entrance that ThunderClan made. Right as he stepped back from the ledge, yellow eyes caught the sight of movement, and almost immediately after the scent of ThunderClan filled his nose. Fur bristling and claws out, a knee-jerk reaction for the leader, one that he stifled before it got out of paw.

Not here. Not again.

Eyes followed a russet-furred molly who leaped up onto the stones beside them, shooting him the cold glare he'd been expecting. Kestrelstar had no idea who this was, and in turn just stared back, not glaring nor offering a dip of his head in greeting. Instead, his face was still as he studied her. She was older than him - once again he was still the youngest leader upon these stones - and seemed to have a thick mixture of anxiety and anger rolling off her. At least ThunderClan had actually made the Gathering; Kestrelstar had been certain they would miss it like they had the last one.

Attention snapped up now by Dawnstar, the gray tabby turned to listen to the ShadowClan leader's announcements. Brief anger clouded his gaze, knowing full well that whatever story the tyrant was trying to spin was not the whole truth. He had experience with how her warriors fought - hell, one of them had attacked his apprentice. It was only there a moment before Kestrelstar composed himself once more. Now was not the time to display personal vendettas he held.

Ouch. The words spat about WindClan, they could cut him if they'd been spoken of RiverClan. Calling a Clan a "joke" warranted claws to the fact, at least in his opinion. From what he'd seen when he'd been there, WindClan was more on the docile side. Going up against a mountain like ShadowClan... was not going to end well - that is, if they kept attempting it alone.

On his other side he heard Twilightstar shift before taking Dawnstar's place. Most of what she reported was just in response to Dawnstar. Deaths of - wait. Suddenly feeling light-headed, Kestrelstar let his claws come out and scrape against the rock. Fernpaw. Fernpaw. An image of the bright eyed and bushy tailed young tom came to mind, green eyes dazzling like late-greenleaf pools of water. The ever excited apprentice, who had accompanied him atop the Seastones during his first Gathering.

A rage he hadn't known before burned in his chest, and briefly the leader considered turning on Dawnstar right then and there, ripping her apart from her ears to her paws. The losses that WindClan had faced... Kestrelstar couldn't even begin to imagine. Finally coming to light was the tragedy they were faced with, and it was hard for the leader to remain with a neutral expression in this situation.

Swallowing his anger, Kestrelstar shifted in his seated position, fighting down the urge to scowl in Dawnstar's direction. Despite his rage he wasn't stupid - he didn't need her on his back, not at least until he could perhaps speak to Twilightstar and get the full story of what had happened.

For now, the gray tabby sat upright, jaw locked, and yellow eyes focusing themselves onto the newcomer; ThunderClan's leader. What would be in her report, he wondered?

[just a reaction post!]

@Wings

Shadestorm snorted. He began to understand
why defeating Windclan was so easy.
"Hearts only mater if they're brave"
or if you rip them out... And honor was only
important sometimes He opened his mouth to
continue but stopped when he heard BunnyStar
speak and smiled at the long list of dead cats.
He wasn't sure who of them was the one he'd
killed a while back but he was glad none the less.

@Ziera

Yarrowshade locked eyes with Stormtalon. The tom had fought her in the raid. He has fought rather well, and almost seemed to have the upper hand, up until Sweetsong had showed up. Ugh, she got mad just thinking about it. He'd taken her spotlight. And, as much as she liked what he did to Storm's shoulders, she would've preferred to kill or at least maim her opponent herself. She could've, but something had distracted her. Not anymore, though. Whitewolf was back and Yarrowshade was seeping with fury.
As he nodded at her, she raised her chin a little, looking down at him as her eyes narrowed. Her expression radiated smug judgement.

High Rank Announcement [#hrannouncement]

~ WOLFFANG ~

There had been... stuff going on. A RiverClan kit sneaking to the Gathering, something Splashleap might've said, and ThunderClan's arrival. It looked as though a new leader and deputy had been chosen. Dogbark? Wolffang turned to look at the small gray tom, noting the scarred muzzle, and dipped his head toward him as a means of greeting. ShadowClan was here, but they had no deputy. Good. He wouldn't be able to keep up with them. Pure fury pulsed beneath his pelt. Everything was fine and dandy... until Dawnstar stepped forward to talk.

If he'd felt angry before, now he felt absolutely furious. Wolffang jumped to his paws, every hair on his pelt standing on end, as he glared up at Dawnstar. She was insulting WindClan in front of them, calling them pathetic and fearful. No cat did that to WindClan! Some of his old mindset leached back to him as he thought of how they needed the strongest cats facing at the front lines, snarling and proving ShadowClan wrong. Then he quickly shook his head. No, they had to prove that every member of WindClan was strong, no matter how ShadowClan looked down on them.

He heard Snowypaw yowling, and felt a flash of pride that his half-sibling was standing up. However, he knew that Dawnstar wouldn't take that too well. She wasn't beyond attacking someone at a Gathering after what she'd done. Quickly, the deputy got up from his spot and stepped in front of his half-sibling, hoping to take some of the attention off of him. Twilightstar had spoken well, but now it was his turn. Fixing his bright yellow gaze on Dawnstar, he snarled, "And that's not all. Those six corpses you killed? You didn't respectfully leave us their bodies. You maimed them. We found them all inside our own territory, stripped of their pelts, barely recognizable because of what you and your warriors did to them. You have no respect or honor, Dawnstar, and you never will. And how dare you insult WindClan? Just because you fight with brutality and fear and love to see blood doesn't mean that every cat does the same. We are strong, loyal, and honorable, while you're just pathetic. Every cat could do without you as a leader." His tail was lashing, he was so livid.

Re: August Gathering

Deadpaw didn't want to find Rookpaw. Or did she? She wasn't sure. Did she want to speak to her after her brother had tried to kill her? Would Rookpaw even want anything to do with her? But it was hard to be angry at Wolffang either, to apologize and call his actions wrong. He didn't know her, her sarcastic wit and lithe grace. He only knew her as a Shadowclan cat, one of the cats who had slaughtered so many of their own. He would have attacked anyone that way, Shadowclan DESERVED to be hurt! They had hurt Windclan too much to NOT deserve it.

And her siblings(half siblings) certainly felt the same. First Snowypaw and then Wolffang yowled up at Dawnstar, and Deadpaw's fur bristled immediately. It was true, Shadowclan was horrible, and did mangle the bodies, but yelling it right into Dawnstar's face? That was probably NOT the most intelligent decision. After all, fights had happened at the gathering before, and the leader certainly wasn't above starting one again. She had long proved that. Shifting through the crowd as subtly as she could, Deadpaw slid in behind her siblings. If Dawnstar DID decide to attack, she wanted a chance to try and smack her around. Rookpaw was, at least temporarily, forgotten.

@Naiad

Silentstorm sat down at the Seastones, her ice-blue eyes roaming over the beach. Kestrelstar looked less... distressed. As though something had happened between him and Thunderclan and he had stopped being so messed up. Thunderclan was back and a new cat sat on the high rock. Was that Aspenstrike? Was she the new leader of Thunderclan? Huh. That was interesting. Shadowclan arrived moments later and she bared her teeth. The villainous savages had destroyed them at their recent battle, but the truce of the gathering might not even be enough to hold them back.

Re: August Gathering

Owltalon stared daggers at Dawnstar as the tyrannical ShadowClan leader as she stood on the Seastones. With a disgrace of a cat. How StarClan had even allowed her to become a leader in the first place was beyond him. Did they not care about the destruction she was causing? How could they sit up there and let this happen? He was progressively losing faith in StarClan's ability. He had not seen them do a lick of good at all. Ever.

Owltalon somehow grew even more angry as she began to speak. "What do you mean, you're disappointed in us?" he yowled, standing up with his pelt bristling. "That's not your job. You don't own us. And you were the one that withdrew your cats in the battle first. That sounds like a retreat to me." Suddenly realizing he was trembling, Owltalon sat down again as Twilightstar began to speak.

What she said was absolutely right. WindClan never stopped fighting. Dawnstar could attack us as much as she liked, but WindClan would still be there. One day, Dawnstar would get what was coming to her.

Re: August Gathering

Rowdy evening.

Wavebreak felt her expression flatten as she listened carefully to each speaker, every word. Dawnstar certainly had her way with a crowd; it was too impressive. Her pedestal was clearly upheld by intimidation and fearlessness, but at least she had the sheer power to show for it. Too bad she's vicious. Wavebreak's back twitched at Wolffang's news of mangled bodies. Was holy Starclan listening? To these apprentices and warriors alike express their hostility and pain.

The Riverclanner dipped her head slightly and peered over at Mothflight. Ironic, where the lighthearted conversation about their pelts has ended up. She wondered briefly what this fatherly figure was like in combat, but having been graced his outward warmth during times like this, she told herself to think of what peace they had.

So, what will come to be with this new cat in the ring?

"Maybe when my kits have kits," Wavebreak replies. "I suppose maybe this new leader could make some changes. If they've got a right mind, it's only up from here."

Re: August Gathering

Leopardfire was not one to normally speak out of turn at a gathering but she about had it with dawnstar "First of all we was patrolling our border and things of that nature when you attacked us for starters." She fluffed and as soon as Twilightstar started speaking she went quiet but she was not going to put up with shadow clan in the slightest first the take over and then taking land and then attacking when they was getting their land back. That was a bit much but Leopardfire was going to stand her ground. @Kunaiskrill

Snowstripe heard the molly from windclan speak that was only the beginning from the guess of it. She saw the molly fur rise from a few fish swims away.

Silverdust had padded in with thunderclan and seen this and then seen snowstripe and turned her head away from the molly that she had seen only afew moons ago. She was not happy to be in the same area but would live none the less.

Darktiger could really care less about what the bunnies said about them but she spat at Leopardfire "Well you deserved it for terespassing on shadow clan land." She mews and then goes silent as the other leader speaks.

Featherpaw of Riverclan however was not going to have any of this from any cat and she decided to say something she may have been new to the whole clan life thing but she was gonna stand proud. "This is a gathering no fighting words should be used here this is a night of peace not a night for this. Now shut your mowls and listen to the announcements. Our ancestors would not want us to be fighting like this." She mews looking at all the clans that was gathered from her spot she was sure Kestrelstar was gonna be mad at her for speaking out of turn but she could not help herself she felt like something had to be said.

Re: August Gathering

High Rank Announcement [#hrannouncement]

Ok, so Wolffang hadn't picked up on how dumb she had been literally.....every time she came to a gathering. That was good, Splashleap would take a neutral conversation. Better than a hostile one, or one where he and Finchwhisker were studying her trying to figure out what the HECK was going on in her head. Which, at the moment, wasn't much intelligent. Mostly worries about when if how would Thunderclan show up at the Gathering. Wolffang was a nice distraction, at least for the time being.

The fish are plentiful as ever. she responded, looking around again. It seemed that Finchwhisker, was in fact absent, which she certainly wouldn't complain about. A more roomy, less smelly spot for everyone. Well, I can't say I particularly miss him. she quipped, a hint of annoyance at the recent aggression of Shadowclan entering her tone. They had always been a bit overactive, always looking for someone to get into a fight with. It had been Riverclan for a while, but it seemed their attention had shifted to Windclan with the rise of Dawnstar. That certainly would explain the anger in Wolffang's voice, there might have been another skirmish.

And then Thunderclan arrived, their woody scent filling the air as they filed in. Splashleap kept a vigilant eye on some of the more excitable of Riverclan for a few moments, before relaxing when nothing more than a few bristled pelts passed between the two clans. While Kestrelstar recognized his mistake, tensions were still high and a single slip could alight the whole situation. The question was, when? Hopefully not tonight.

Greetings. she mewed, a bit of frost joining the typically fairly warm tone of Splashleap. She dipped her head to the new deputy nonetheless, making peace required some effort, and being polite was something she could do. If nothing else it set a good example for the rest of the clan. She wasn't going to be overly friendly, but a lack of hostility was certainly in order.

As the Gathering went on, the relatively peaceful start seemed destined not to last. Twilightstar and then Dawnstar gave their announcements, a fairly coherent story being pieced together between them. Dawnstar's lack of remorse was in a twisted way comforting, at least she wouldn't try and change the truth to reflect her in a better light. She could care less, and would tell it like it was.

Wolffang rose beside her, yowling at the leader as he shielded a smaller cat she expected was an apprentice from the leader, who had spoken up first. Another molly joined them, Splashleap imagined in case Dawnstar attacked. At first blush it seemed paranoid, threatening, but when she considered what had been reported........it seemed more reasonable. After stripping cats of their pelts, would a little violence during a gathering REALLY trouble the Shadowclan leader?

She doubted it somehow, and while she didn't unsheath her claws, Splashleap did become more tense. Windclan were their allies, even if less tightly knit in recent moons, and it would hardly do to allow their allies to be slaughtered. She considered for a moment before making up her mind. While she wouldn't say anything(HOW did cats speak so freely in gatherings, it was simply beyond her) but if Dawnstar did cause any problems she would try to defend their allies, especially if the rest of the pinewoods clan followed suit in attacking. She just hoped it wouldn't come to that and the gathering would come to an end. So much tension was bubbling everywhere it was a wonder things hadn't exploded already! @TheNyanCatMinecart @Willowfern
