Appleclaw grunted as a kit kicked inside her. "Beasts," she muttered under her breath. I am just trying to take a nice afternoon nap, but oh no, these creatures in my belly have to keep me up. She rolled over in an attempt to get comfy again, and maybe squish one of the kits so that it would be still, but the continued their kicking. "Star, will you just..." she started to say. Was it really so much to ask for them to be still? She scratched her belly enough for it to sting a little, and was rewarded with another kick, a bit stronger than any yet. She say up and glared at her belly. "What the fox..."

Then a bolt of pain shot through her, and she realised what was happening. "Now???" She groaned, but at least they would be out of her now. Then they would be next to her with their ear-bleeding cries.
Appleclaw slumped back down defeated. She was about to call out, then remembered that their Medicine Cat was all but deaf. Really, what use was a medicine cat if they couldn't cure their own ears? Shaking her head, she started to stand. She would have to go to the Medicine Den herself, then stopped when she spotted a brown furred apprentice skulking around the clearing, probably up to no good.

"You there," she called out to him, not bothering to even try and remember his name.

Woodpaw in fact, hadn't been doing anything naughty, unless you counted being skinny as a stick and hungry as... something that hadn't eaten in day, which he wasn't sure of himself. The clan needed health, strong warriors, not apprentices that looked like a coughed up mouse in leafbare. When he first heard the queen, his initial thought was that she was talking to somebody else and that he should go back to his nest. Then she called again. "You! Skinny apprentice, go fetch Drizzlecloud and tell her I am having my kits." He flattened his ears. She was definitely talking to him. He didn't want to go to the Medicine Den. He might get noticed, and then they would notice his body and wast their time over him. He didn't want that. "Move it!" Appleclaw yelled. Woodpaw bit his tongue and nodded. He would have to keep his head down and hope that the news he bore was enough to make Drizzlecloud forget about him.
Appleclaw gave a sharp, satisfied nod as the apprentice turned to the Medicine Cat den. Surely she had never been so dumb and slow when she was an apprentice? She returned to her nest, stretching out to make herself comfy and wait for the Medicine Cat.
