It was now Hollowpaw’s turn to send out patrols, and he was feeling quite good about the prospect! And a little anxious, but that might’ve just been because his sister was in the medicine den at the moment and she… well he needed her to get better. More than anyone else, he needed Bravepaw to get better. He needed her better.

Storming over to the Undercrag, the small brown tom curls his long tail over his paws with a scowl and takes in a breath to call out to the clan.

"ThunderClan! I’m sending out more herb patrols! If you hear your name I expect your patrol to be completed, I want nothing to do with cats who don’t care enough to bother completing the simple task of gathering herbs!" That out of the way, time to actually send these miserable cats out.

"Lioncrest [ @Jayvines ], take Orangeblossom [ @Dolomedes ] and Antpaw [ @Badwolf ] to look for comfrey and honey. You should find both over at firefly cove. You get honeycomb outta beehives, and comfrey are bushes with big, sorta wavy leaves and droopy purple flowers. I don’t need the flowers, just the leaves or the roots.

"Skunkridge [ @Idiotic.Bean101 ], take Raggedear [ @TanghuluCat ] to sunkissed creek. You’re looking for thyme and stinging nettle. Thyme is a smaller plant that grows in stalks in clusters with small, rounded leaves and stinging nettle has very spiky leaves that’ll hurt if you touch ‘em while dry, so wash them off first because I’m not giving you poppy seeds for forgetting.

"Mothflame [ @Starphobia ], Wolfpaw [ @Bean ], I want you at willow's rise looking for cobwebs and marigold, we’re running low on both. Wolfpaw can explain what to look for if you don’t know.

“Bumblestar [ @dino. ], I need you to look for catmint. If you need to go beyond the territory, do it. Take Laurelfrost [ @nykyrian ] and Lavendersong [ @twizzypaw ] with you. The plant grows in stalks with purple flowers and small leaves, it’s got a pleasant scent but can make your head woozy.”

That done and dealt with, Hollowpaw sat and waited for the patrols to form together and set off.

Orangeblossom

Orangeblossom flicked an ear as he heard his named called, he looked over. A stinging in his heart reminded bitter as he made eye sight with Hollowpaw, calling patrols to order. An herb patrol. It's been awhile since he's been sent on one. Spring... no. He needed to get his tasks done and then he can think about her. He needed to focus because these will help with the illness that has taken a hold of the clan lately. He got up and padded over to Lioncrest and Antpaw. "Here." He spoke around the owl feather in his mouth before he placed the feather to nestle deep into his thick fur within his eye sight so he would notice if it inevitably dropped.

Flamesurge. No wait. Flamepaw. No. Morningpaw. What was the point of calling him Flamepaw. He was demoted into an apprentice again, and so his name should be Morningpaw. Because just like that name, he was a disappointment. Letting Mudhound and Wolfpaw go on that patrol without him. It wasn’t like they wanted him there?! He was doing them a favor! Mudhound hated his guts and Wolfpaw would prefer that Morningpaw had stayed missing!! After getting his shiny new title there wasn’t any time for Morningpaw. Not after Morningpaw worked his ass off getting named at 6 moons for Wolfpaw only to be thrown away like some stale prey. He approached his leader, only having flicked an ear at her initial call. Half hoping that she would just throw him out and be done with Morningpaw like everyone in this blasted clan wanted anyways.

“Throw me out then. No one wants me here! Wolfpaw wishes I stayed gone like the rest of our dead family! Mudhound wishes me dead! I was doing them a stardamned favor staying back from that patrol. I was going to find someone else to go out to get the herbs without damning them with my presence.

I’m a waste, Bumblestar, not worth the name or chance you gave me. Whatever I was shooting for is gone now.” Whatever he was trying to do for Wolfpaw isn’t wanted anymore. He flicked his tail as he shot a glance towards the medicine den. There’s been a recent pick up in illness lately. It makes sense that Wolfpaw doesn’t have time for someone like Morningpaw. But even before that, Wolfpaw never even shot a glance Morningpaw’s way. Not after he was named. Not even glancing to Morningpaw after the disgrace tried to follow after him to congratulate his brother being named the medicine cat at 6 moons old. That made Morningpaw look like a joke, and Morningpaw has been nothing but a joke his entire life. Something for his dead family to point and laugh at from the stars. “Actually, you may as well save everyone the time and effort and do me in now. I’ve seen you execute people, and for once you’ll have a willing victim.”

...did Wolfpaw seriously not know what marigold was? Okaaayyyy, time to explain to the supposed head medic one of the most basic herbs.

"The orange or red flowers with the frilly petals?" He explains, ear twitching slightly in annoyance. "We have them in the herb supply you should remember what they look like. We use 'em for infection."
