Breeze nodded. She sniffed the air, and almost instantly, the smell of a rabbit. She started creeping up on it and pouncing on it! (20)

Re: Bone Crest Throne

Quiet Hail cast a quick glance at Ares, one of her slender ears flicking in an acknowledgement to him that she was heading out. As she turned to follow Rook, Quiet Hail paused and looked over at Ares again, nodding subtly and quickly to him, grateful that he was putting trust in her paws to help feed the tribe in this crisis. She then followed Rook out, keeping in pace with her tribemates. The urgency prickling her fur as sharply as the cold, they must hurry. Time was not on their side. The slender feline flicked her tail in acknowledgement before turning to mind her own hunting. Great spirit, it had been so long since her paws walked this path, yet her body quickly adjusted to old habits.

-rolled 19-

It wasn't long before she caught onto a prey trail. Rabbit. The she-cat sank low, allowing her legs to be hidden by the snow. Most prey creatures were likely hiding by now, seeking shelter from the coming storm. Following the scent trail, and what her instincts told her. She quickly came across a crevice, with rabbit tracks leading in and out. So, here is where it's hiding. Quiet Hail carefully slipped up the crevice, looking for a gap. It didn't seem that it went that deep, so the rabbit was trapped. She just had to get to it.

-rolled 18-

There! As luck, or the spirits, would have it, she found a gap above where the rabbit was hiding that she could reach through. As quick as a viper, Quiet Hail struck out a claw and wrapped them around the rabbit's throat, silencing any cries before they could alert other prey in the area. She quickly crept back down and reached in with her jaws, grabbing the rabbit with care and lifting it out of its hiding spot. But this still wouldn't suffice, who knew how long they'd be trapped? Unable to go out and hunt? She noticed Rook's success, flicking an ear at him in a sort of congratulations. If they were successful with these two, perhaps there was a nest?

Rook looked over at Quiet Hail, giving her a nod of approval before looking for prey once again, his whiskers twitching as the winds claws scraped his muzzle ruthlessly, blinding him to all but two tail lengths ahead. The long chimera continued to prowl for prey, the need to protect the tribe, to protect his adopted daughters. Cosmo. The Young and initates harboring in the freezing caves.

He couldn't stop. He wouldn't. He didn't care if he got praised for his work, or was given some gratitude, it didn't matter.

Cosmo, Collie, Shy Horse and the tribe did.

Boreas did.

Quiet Hail did.

Aria, Crimson. The cats that kept him going, the cats that passed that gaved their lives so the tribe could survive.

Brutus.

Rook would protect the atari for Brutus, he would do his best, he would find every morsel of prey he could for her.

[rolled a 18 + 6; 24]

Rook's sharp gaze picked up another scent, his ears pricked as he lowered his body. A large rabbit, good enough for two warriors. The tom's claws unsheathed and he lowered himself instinctively, slowly blinking towards the rabbit, ears pinned and teeth bared as he carefully adjusted himself, long tail extended to not make a noise, his whiskers twitching.

[rolled a 11 + 6; 17]

The long chimera lunged, his jaws clamping down on the large rabbit, his ocean eyes blinking in satisfaction as he picked up the second, digging a hole and burying both. They needed more, it wasn't an option.

Well that was quick. No complains here though! She dashed after Rook, thankful for the camouflage of the snow. She made sure to stay nearby the others but not so much that they would track the same prey. She wanted to find her own things.

(rolling d20: 3)

The wind was blowing at her in all sorts of directions and all the smells traveled around at once. It seemed impossible to find something in this horrid weather. Maybe this is why snowstorms were bad, hard to find prey. She took a quick glance at the claw and keeper, eyes widening at their rabbits. Even the other initiate caught one. She was not going to be the one with the least amount of prey, not if she could help it.

(rolling d20: 20)

With fierce determination she forced herself to focus and quickly caught the sent of a mouse. She quickly stalked towards it, feeling confident with her pelt as white as her surroundings. Boreas shot forward, catching the mouse squarely between her claws. She wasn't sure what to really do with it now so she put it in Rook's hole and continued looking.

(rolling d20: 14)

Took a little but she found a thrush flying through the frosty air. She made a dash after it, more focused on it than where she was placing her paws. Boreas slipped on a bit of snow but steadied herself. Maybe she can use it to her advantage? The white initiate slid onto the snow, which was probably very dangerous and not smart but she was able to catch up to it. She made sure that there was no slippery snow so she can bunch her muscles and leap. Boreas hooked the bird out of the air and killed it with a swift bit of the neck. Yeah, the wind almost blew her past it but she got it anyways. She was too far from the hole she put her mouse in so she felt around for some dirt and dug a small hole in it.

(rolling d20: 8)

Again the scents blew in different directions and she crowched low to the ground to maintain her footing. She couldn't really see the others right now, they must be out there somewhere. She hadn't realized she came this far to get that bird. She'll find them eventually, prey was what mattered right now. Her body was beginning to get very cold so she had to stay out for as long as it took. She'd be fine.

Re: Bone Crest Throne

Quiet Hail was very much in agreement with Rook’s mindset. She decided to tuck the rabbit she caught back into the crevice where she found it, hoping that would be enough to shelter it from aerial predators, before turning her attention back to increasingly violent winds. Praying for additional prey.

-rolled 17-

Turning her head into the wind, she parted her jaws to taste the air, an action she partially regretted, and caught additional prey-scent. Seems they would be blessed! Quiet Hail followed the trail, this time her hunt led her to a mouse. Not wanting to waste precious time, she crouched and swiftly launched at the unsuspecting critter.

-rolled 16-

She successfully administered a swift kill, adding the mouse to her rabbit before setting out again.

-rolled 17-

Mouse. Another critter caught in the weather. Quiet Hail crouched and followed the trail, locating her target.

-rolled 15-

Another swift launch and kill. There was a reason she had been close to earning her name when she was a trapper. Quiet Hail had been a prolific hunter when she held the title, until she suffered the crippling losses she was dealt… But now was no time to dwell. She added this mouse to her stash, her tail lashing thoughtfully as she examined the weather. Things were escalating…did they have enough prey? Did they have enough time? She cast a questioning glance at Rook, silently asking him what he wanted to do.

Rook's long figure continued to search for prey, soon coming back to the prey hole.

[rolling d20 for amount of prey: 20 + 6]

The long figure was carrying two crows and a juvenile fox, his ears flicking as he dug back up the rabbits. He made a nod back towards the camp, signaling it was time to go. They had run out of time.

Re: Bone Crest Throne

Quiet Hail nodded at Rook, an ear flicking as an indication of how impressed she was by his haul. She knew the physical limitations of her size, there was no way she would have the physical prowess to take down larger targets. So she hunted what she could, and frankly she was fairly satisfied with her results. Still, as she picked up her mice by the tails and her hare by the scruff behind it's neck, she did find herself wishing she could do more... If she had a different body, actually if she were a tom she'd probably still be a trapper. As a tom, she never would have felt the loss of her kits in the same way. Maybe it wouldn't have crippled her so much. Although, the loss of her mate would still have been rather devastating...so perhaps not. But surely, with broader shoulders she could take down larger prey and-

None of that matters.

Quiet Hail shook her head as though shaking water. Why was she thinking about this? Whether she could challenge larger prey or not had no bearing on her skills as a keeper, which was her chosen position now. There was...nothing else for it. The lithe feline carried her kills to where Rook was waiting to lead them back. Even though her contributions did not amount to nearly as much, between their catches and Boreas they should be okay...assuming they're careful. Quiet Hail's ears flattened against her head as a harsh gust of wind billowed against them, heterochromatic eyes squinting against the cold. She was certainly looking forward to returning to her post as keeper at the moment.

Rook wasn't wanting to waste time, his tail lashing. Time was up.

"We're going now! If you hang behind then you get left behind!" He yowled over the wind. Of course, if somebody didn't make it, he was going to go back for them. He looked at Quiet Hail. "Let's go. Now." He growled, nodding to breeze as well. Boreas wasn't here. and it was wrong. Rook lead the patrol back to camp, dropping his hack and growling.

"get to cover with the prey. I'm going to get Boreas and Breeze. Ares. We have prey, Boreas is missing and I'm going out. the others are safe." He grunted, leaping put into the howling winds.

Okay, she was lost. But she was going to keep searching. Boreas gritted her teeth and shook the snow from her fur. The curly white she-cat raised her nose high and the air and searched.

(rolling d20: 17)

A rabbit! She'll get a rabbit! Boreas crouched through the snow slowly, stalking the white prey in the distance. Her orange eyes sharped on the bunny until she leapt and caught it by the neck. The initiate bit down hard until it stopped moving. It was warm in her mouth, warmer than her body. But she had to find another.

(rolling d20: 4)

Oh it's really cold out here. What if they others already left? She couldn't find anything else, she has to go back. The Atari needed this prey.. Boreas stumbled back over to her thrush and carried it with the rabbit in her mouth. Now where was camp again? She tried to follow her paw prints in the snow back towards where she came from.

(rolling d20: 18)

It was no issue to follow the skirts in the snow back to where she came from. She bounded through the snow until she could see the others in the distance. Boreas wanted to shout out so they could see her apart from all the snow but she couldn't with the prey in her mouth. Instead she snuck up to Rook and jabbed his back with a sheathed paw. "Lok wha I goot!" she said with a muffled voice.

Quiet Hail dipped her head to Rook and followed him back, setting her prey down in the nursery where the others were taking shelter. "Breeze." She turned, trying to call out after Rook, but he was gone. Quiet Hail looked at Ares, her gaze concerned. "Breeze came out with us, but has not returned." She reported, but Quiet Hail was conflicted. Leaving now could potentially put the tribe's young at risk, it was enough of a risk for her to leave them alone as long as she did. The lithe she-cat looked over her shoulder at the keepers who already had the young gathered. Now that she had returned with prey - not as much as Rook granted, but something - she was reluctant to leave her post for a second time to go out looking for Brook. Quiet Hail met Ares's gaze, waiting patiently to hear what he wanted to do about Brook's absence.
